In Sweden, more than 30,000 people per year are affected by myocardial infarction and out of these approximately 40% are women. Nearly 70% of the women survive and after a myocardial infarction a recovery process follows. Today’s health care focuses more on treatment, symptoms and risk factors than on the individuals’ perceptions of the recovery process. Aim: To explore cardiac rehabilitation nurses’ experiences of factors influencing female patients’ recovery after their first myocardial infarction. Methods: Twenty cardiac rehabilitation nurses were interviewed. The study was conducted using qualitative content analysis. Results: The cardiac rehabilitation nurses experienced that women’s recovery after a first myocardial infarction was influenced whether they had a supportive context, their ability to cope with the stresses of life, if they wanted to be involved in their own personal care and how they related to themselves. Conclusions: Women’s recovery after a myocardial infarction was influenced by factors related to surroundings as well as own individual factors. The underlying meaning of women’s recovery can be described as the transition process of a recovery to health. Our findings suggest that a focus on person-centered nursing would be beneficial in order to promote the every woman’s personal and unique recovery after a myocardial infarction. Finally, the cardiac rehabilitation nurses’ experiences of factors influencing male patients’ recovery after their first myocardial infarction should be important to investigate.展开更多

Aim: The study aimed at examining the factors that increase retention of nurses. Research Method: The study is descriptive cross sectional with a sample of 150 nurses including both the genders, from 3 private hospitals located in Pakistan. A convenient sampling technique was used. The data collection was done through close ended questionnaires based on 20 questions. Data collection was done quantitatively and then data was entered in SPSS. Correlation and regression tests were performed. Findings: The analysis revealed that 91.3% nurses are loyal to their hospitals but, 8.7%nurses can switch the hospital for different reasons. It was also found that the idea of leaving the job based on the intention of moving to abroad and public sector was higher than the retirement and other causes. Resultantly, enhancements in nurses’ work environments have the ability to decrease nurses’ job burnout and turnover and increase patients’ satisfaction. Recommendations: Hospital leaders should implement effective strategies to encourage nurses to continue their job by motivation, strengthening management skills within the hospital and improving a positive work environment by promoting teamwork, continuous learning, trust, respect and flexible arrangements which can lead towards achieving better results. However, further studies quantitatively and qualitatively can explore more factors related to dissatisfaction of nurses. Health systems policy makers should lead by developing related strategies for the retention of nurses.展开更多

This study aims to develop a self-rated nursing record frequency scale for delirium care among nurses in acute care hospitals (NRDC-Acute). Methods: A draft of the scale was developed after a literature review and meeting with researchers with experience in delirium care, and a master’s or doctoral degree in nursing. We identified 25 items on a 5-point Likert scale. Subsequently, an anonymous self-administered questionnaire survey was administered to 520 nurses from 41 acute care hospitals in Japan, and the reliability and validity of the scale were examined. Results: There were 232 (44.6%) respondents and 218 (41.9%) valid responses. The mean duration of clinical experience was 15.2 years (SD = 8.8). Exploratory factor analysis extracted 4 factors and 13 items for this scale. The model fit indices were GFI = 0.991, AGFI = 0.986, and SRMR = 0.046. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient for the entire scale was .888. The four factors were named “Record of Pharmacological Delirium Care on Pro Re Nata (PRN)”, “Record of Non-Pharmacological Delirium Care”, “Record of Pharmacological Delirium Care on Regular Medication”, and “Record of Collaboration for Delirium Care”. Conclusion: The scale was relatively reliable and valid. Nurses in acute care hospitals can use this scale to identify and address issues related to the documentation of nursing records for delirium care.展开更多

Infertility is of male origin in 40% of cases. Our objective was to evaluate the epidemiological and clinical aspects of male infertility in our setting. Methods: This was a cross-sectional and descriptive study, with retrospective data collection from the files of patients received for male infertility, over 5 years and 6 months (from January 1st, 2016 to April 30th, 2021) at the Urology Department of the Yaounde Central Hospital. Phone calls were made to patients with incomplete records for completion following a verbal consent. Data reported on data collection forms were entered into a data entry form designed on CSPro software version 7.2. The database was later exported for descriptive statistics using the IBM SPSS software version 23. Qualitative variables were summarized in frequencies and percentages while quantitative variables were summarized in means with their standard deviations for normally distributed data, or medians and interquartile ranges otherwise. Results: Out of 110 patients whose records were analyzed, the median age was 37.0 years, with an interquartile range of 8.3, with 55.5% in the age group 30 to 39 years. Of these 95 (86.4%) were married, 58 (52.7%) were from the West region, 76 (69.1%) were employed. Past history was dominated by mumps 40 (36.4%), varicocele surgery 25 (22.7%), alcoholism 87 (79.1%) and smoking 15 (13.6%). A disorder of spermatogenesis was found in all our patients: 37 (33.6%) azoospermia, 27 (24.6%) asthenospermia and 26 (23.7%) oligospermia patients. Paraclinical evidence of chlamydia and gonococcal infections were found respectively in 38 (34.5%) and 14 (12.7%) patients, varicocele and testicular dystrophy respectively in 95 (86.4%) and 38 (34.5%) patients. Infertility was primary in 67 (60.9%) patients. Conclusion: Most patients with infertility were in their thirties, had risky social habits and comorbidities. An early start of health promotion activities, comorbidities prevention and early detection of spermogram abnormalities would make it possible to reduce the frequency of male infertility.展开更多

Health systems policy makers should lead by developing related strategies for the retention of nurses.
文摘This essay offers a comprehensive comparative analysis of female warriors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe(MCU)and Wuxia films. Both genres portray powerful and empowered female characters who defy societal expectations and embody resilience, effectively challenging gender norms and promoting female empowerment. However, despite their strength, many of these women warriors face certain narrative factors, such as the male gaze and a predetermined fate, which can restrict their agency and curtail their full potential. And it is within the realm of Wuxia films that the captivating element of cross-dressing among female warriors emerges, providing a nuanced exploration of identity and the constraints imposed by society.
文摘Objective:To explore the impact of Ficus carica fruit aqueous extract on fertility parameters in streptozotocin(STZ)-induced male rats.Methods:Twenty-four male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into four different groups. All groups except a normal control group were induced with 50 mg/kg of streptozotocin(STZ)intravenously to induce diabetes.A positive control group was treated with an antidiabetic drug,metformin(500 mg/kg)whereas a negative control group remained untreated throughout the experiment.Meanwhile, another diabetic rat group received treatment with 400 mg/kg of aqueous Ficus carica fruit extract.Rats in the treatment group were administered Ficus carica fruit aqueous extract daily through forcefeeding via oral gavage for a 21-day period.Assessments included the sperm quality(count, motility and morphology),histology of the testes, serum testosterone and fasting blood glucose(FBG)level. Results:The FBG level of the Ficus carica-treated rats exhibited a significant decrease compared to the negative control group(P<0.05).Sperm quality analysis also indicated that the aqueous Ficus carica extract had significant positive effects on sperm count and motility(P<0.05).The histology of the testes in Ficus caricatreated rats revealed an improved cell arrangement in the germinal cell layer.Furthermore, serum testosterone level showed an increment in the Ficus carica treatment group in comparison to the negative control group. Conclusions:Our findings provide compelling evidence for the profertility and anti-hyperglycemic properties of aqueous Ficus carica fruit extract in diabetic-induced male rats.
文摘BACKGROUND This study employs a descriptive phenomenological approach to investigate the challenges anesthesia nurses face in managing emergence delirium(ED),a common and complex postoperative complication in the post-anesthesia care unit. The role of nurses in managing ED is critical, yet research on their understanding and management strategies for ED is lacking.AIM To investigate anesthetic nurses’cognition and management experiences of ED in hopes of developing a standardized management protocol.METHODS This study employed a descriptive phenomenological approach from qualitative research methodologies.Purposeful sampling was utilized to select 12 anesthetic nurses from a tertiary hospital in Shanghai as research subjects.Semi-structured interviews were conducted, and the data were organized and analyzed using Colaizzi’s seven-step analysis method, from which the final themes were extracted.RESULTS After analyzing the interview content, four main themes and eight subthemes were distilled:Inefficient cognition hinders the identification of ED(conceptual ambiguity, empirical identification),managing diversity and challenges(patientcentered safe care, low level of medical-nursing collaboration),work responsibilities and pressure coexist(heavy work responsibilities, occupational risks and stress),demand for high-quality management(expecting the construction of predictive assessment tools and prevention strategies, and pursuing standardized management processes to enhance management effectiveness).CONCLUSION Nursing managers should prioritize the needs and suggestions of nurses in order to enhance their nursing capabilities and provide guidance for standardized management processes.

文摘The migration of healthcare professionals, including nurses,is a global phenomenon. It is driven by various factors, including the pursuit of better opportunities, living conditions, and professional development,as well as political instability or conflict in their home countries. The World Health Organization(WHO)has noted that high-income countries often rely on foreign-trained nurses to fill gaps in their healthcare systems[1].For instance,as of 2021,over 40%(52 million)of all nurses in the United States(US)were expatriates[2].In the United Kingdom(UK),the percentage of expatriate nurses was even higher, reaching approximately 18%in 2021[3].Owing to globalization and migration, healthcare providers must possess cultural competence to deliver improved care[4,5].Culturally responsive teaching(CRT)is rooted in the idea that culture plays a vital role in shaping people’s behaviors, beliefs, values, and communication styles[6].Furthermore,these cultural factors influence patients’perspectives on health, illness, healing, and their preferences for care and communication[7].By recognizing and embracing these cultural differences, nurses can provide more effective and compassionate care to their diverse patient population[8].

文摘Andromonoecy is a rare sexual system in plants. The function of additional male flowers in andromonoecious species has been widely discussed;however, few studies have taken offspring fitness into account. In addition, little is known about the mechanisms that maintain andromonoecy in autogamous species. In this study,we compared morphology, pollinator preference, pollen production and export, siring ability, natural siring success, hundred seed dry weight, and seed germination rates between male and hermaphroditic flowers in an endangered autogamous andromonoecious species,Sagittaria guayanensis.Male flowers, which are larger than hermaphroditic flowers, required fewer resources to produce.Pollinators visited male flowers more frequently than they visited hermaphroditic flowers. In addition, pollen production and export were higher in male flowers.Hand pollination demonstrated that siring ability did not differ between flower type. However, the natural siring success of male flowers was triple that of hermaphroditic flowers. The seeds sired by male flowers performed better than those sired by hermaphroditic flowers, with greater dry weight and higher germination rate.In conclusion, male flowers may be superior pollen donors for outcrossing. The maintenance of andromonoecy in S.guayanensis may result from the better performance of male flowers in male function compared to that of hermaphroditic flowers.

文摘Objective:This study aimed to review the relationship between job embeddedness and turnover intentions among nurses and explore the effects of the Job Embeddedness Scale, number of years in the career, education, and marital status on this relationship. Methods:The review was conducted by searching the China Knowledge Resource Integrated Database(CNKI),Weipu Database(CQVIP),China Biology Medicine(CBM),Wanfang Database,PubMed,Web of Science,Embase,CINAHL,and APA-PsycNet for articles on nurses’job embeddedness and turnover from intention up to March 2024.The research quality was evaluated using the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality(AHRQ)assessment criteria. The review protocol has been registered on PROSPERO[CRD42023483947].Results:The results of this review included 47 studies consisting of 15,742 nurses from seven countries worldwide.A moderate negative correlation was found between job embeddedness and turnover intention(r=0.487).Furthermore,on-the-job embeddedness(r=0.527)was more negatively associated with turnover intention than off-the-job embeddedness(r=0.234).The highest negative correlation was found between sacrifice and turnover intention(r=0.460),while the lowest was for the link(r=0.185).Furthermore,the relationship between job embeddedness and its dimensions with turnover intention was affected by different job embeddedness scales, number of years in the career, education, and marital status(P<0.05).Conclusion:This systematic review and meta-analysis analyzed the relationships between nurses’job embeddedness, dimensions, and turnover intention.Meanwhile, subgroup analysis and meta-regression explored the factors influencing these relationships. It is an important reference for nurse managers to promote nurse retention.
文摘Background: Nursing records play an important role in multidisciplinary collaborations in delirium care. Nurses in acute care hospitals can use this scale to identify and address issues related to the documentation of nursing records for delirium care.

文摘The structural integrity of the sperm flagellum is essential for proper sperm function.Flagellar defects can result in male infertility, yet the precise mechanisms underlying this relationship are not fully understood.CCDC181,a coiled-coil domain-containing protein,is known to localize on sperm flagella and at the basal regions of motile cilia.Despite this knowledge, the specific functions of CCDC181 in flagellum biogenesis remain unclear. In this study,Ccdc181 knockout mice were generated. The absence of CCDC181 led to defective sperm head shaping and flagellum formation.Furthermore, the Ccdc181 knockout mice exhibited extremely low sperm counts, grossly aberrant sperm morphologies, markedly diminished sperm motility, and typical multiple morphological abnormalities of the flagella(MMAF).Additionally,an interaction between CCDC181 and the MMAF-related protein LRRC46 was identified, with CCDC181 regulating the localization of LRRC46 within sperm flagella. These findings suggest that CCDC181 plays a crucial role in both manchette formation and sperm flagellum biogenesis.
文摘Introduction: About 10 to 15% of couples in the world and 20 to 30% in Cameroon consult for infertility problems. An early start of health promotion activities, comorbidities prevention and early detection of spermogram abnormalities would make it possible to reduce the frequency of male infertility.
