Taking into account statistical independence of subcarriers' signals of OFDM, the signal recovery mechanism is investigated to achieve the goal of blind equalization. The received OFDM signals can be considered as the mixed observation signals. The effect of CFO and multipath corresponds to the mixing matrix in the problem of blind source separation (BSS) framework. In this paper, the ICA- based OFDM system model is built, and the proposed ICA-based detector is exploited to extract source signals from the observation of a received mixture based on the assumption of statistical independence between the sources. The blind separation technique can increase spectral efficiency and provide robustness performance against erroneous parameter estimation problem. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that compared with the conventional pilot-based scheme, the improved performance of OFDM systems is obtained by the proposed ICA-based detection technique.展开更多

In this pa- per, we propose a hierarchical power control ( HPC ) scheme where intra-eell and inter-cell power controls interact with each other. The inter-cell power control eommand is generated by radio re- source management (RRM) entity according to the ICI-load model together with the current ICI and served load information. This ICI-load model is proposed as a guideline for coordination among cells to enable the system to approach its system specific interference over thermal noise (IoT) work area. Simulation results show that for HPC scheme, the system' s IoT is well controlled to fit its pre-de- fined work area and the power efficiency is improved significantly. Our proposed scheme is also ro- bust to different settings of its inter-cell power control period.展开更多

Using the spatial and temporal correlation of a geometrical one-ring model, a close-formed expression of intercarrier interference due to the Doppler effect caused by the movement of receiver is derived under the isotropic scattering conditions and non-isotropic scattering conditions. The analytical results are verified by Monte Carlo simulations. We use the generated channels to investigate MIMO-OFDM intercarrier interference under various channel parameters. It can be shown that more than 95% oflCI power comes from five neighboring subcarriers.展开更多

ProSync partly shrinks the preamble at the transmitter and exploits two multi-band filters at the receiver. By doing so, the potential interference suffered by NC-OFDM users, including both the cross-band interference and self interference, can be greatly reduced. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of ProSync, which is able to lower the carrier frequency offset (CFO) estimation error by up to 50%, compared with the traditional method.展开更多

However, FBMC systems suffer from intrinsic imaginary interference caused by the real-fi eld orthogonality destruction when passing through complex-valued fading channels. By analyzing the transmultiplexer's response of FBMC/OQAM systems, in this paper, a simple conjugated transmission scheme is proposed for FBMC/OQAM systems. Following the specific conjugation design, the intrinsic imaginary interference including the intrinsic inter-symbol and the inter-carrier interference can be eliminated at the receiver side through linear signal processing operation. Meanwhile, the proposed conjugated transmission scheme is able to obtain extra linear combination diversity gains for improving the systematic performance of FBMC/OQAM. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme is more efficient than conventional methods, especially in practical application scenarios with large Doppler spread caused by high-speed movement.展开更多

However, in practice, there is an undesirable but non-negligible effect, namely the asymmetric interference, that makes the assumptions no longer valid. In this paper, a simple closed-loop feedback method of compensating interference asymmetry in TDD multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system is proposed. The system makes the estimated interference at transmit-side be able to track the instantaneous receive-side interference dynamically. The proposed method maintains constant frame error rate (FER) by adopting adaptive modulation coding (AMC) and power loading. The final simulations have verified the effectiveness of the new method.展开更多
