AIM: To investigate ophthalmologic findings in children with thalassemia major(TM) and compare the findings with healthy controls. ·METHODS: In a cross-sectional study,43 children with thalassemia major from pedi...AIM: To investigate ophthalmologic findings in children with thalassemia major(TM) and compare the findings with healthy controls. ·METHODS: In a cross-sectional study,43 children with thalassemia major from pediatric hematology outpatient clinics from two university hospitals and age/sex matched 47 healthy children were included in the study. After a complete ophthalmic examination,tear function tests including the Schirmer test,fluorescein tear breakup time(BUT),ultrasound pachymetry,and axial length measurement were performed. Obtained data was recorded for statistical analysis and the values of right eyes were compared between groups. ·RESULTS: The mean best corrected visual acuity was 1.34 ±0.75 in TM and 1.08 ±0.28 in controls. It was found lower than 0.1 logMAR unit in 10(23.2%) children with TM and 2(4.2%) in controls,and the difference was statistically significant(P 【0.05). The mean central corneal thickness was 540±26.95 in children with TM and 536.98± 20.45μm in controls(P 】0.05). The mean axial length was 22.53±0.50 in TM and 22.57±0.43mm in the control group. The mean Schirmer test score was 19.94±6.91 in TM and 24.22±3.95mm in the control group(P 【0.01). The mean BUT score was 9.62 ±1.28 in TM and 9.73 ±0.6s in the control group(P 】0.05). ·CONCLUSION: In TM,while corneal thickness,axial length,and BUT are close to controls,the Schirmer scores are less than normal. The study revealed that TM may be affected by the tear function and visual acuity.展开更多
AIM: To evaluate the frequency of blue-on-yellow perimetry (B/YP) deficits in ocular hypertension (OHT) patients and to correlate these findings with central corneal thickness (CCT), and to investigate the influence o...AIM: To evaluate the frequency of blue-on-yellow perimetry (B/YP) deficits in ocular hypertension (OHT) patients and to correlate these findings with central corneal thickness (CCT), and to investigate the influence of age, refraction and gender on the B/YP results in OHT patients. METHODS: The B/YP and CCT were checked respectively in 72 OHT patients with normal white-on-white perimetry (W/WP) and normal optic nerve head. The B/YP was tested by Octopus 101 automated perimetry using G2 strategy, while the CCT was checked with DGH-550 ultrasound pachymeter. All patients were chosen randomly one eye for statistical analysis, a binary regression model was used to determine the independent contribution of variables included in the model, and the differences of the intraocular pressure (TOP), CCT, age, refraction and gender between the normal B/YP group and abnormal B/YP group were compared. RESULTS: Forty-nine out of 72 patients with OHT showed normal B/YP results, whereas 23 of 72 patients (31.9%) demonstrated abnormal B/YP results. CCT showed a correlation with the B/YP results (B=-0.038, SE=0.019, P=0.044), whereas none of the TOP, age, refraction and gender was found to be correlated with the B/YP results. The mean CCT in OHT patients with abnormal B/YP group was lower than that with normal B/YP group (t=2.066, P=0.043). There was a significant positive correlation between TOP and CCT (R(2)=0.513, P=0.000). CONCLUSION: The mean CCT in OHT patients with abnormal B/YP results was lower than that with normal B/YP results. There was a significant positive correlation between TOP and CCT in OHT patients. The age, refraction and gender didn't influence the B/YP results in OHT patients.展开更多

文摘目的 比较共同性内、外斜视患者的术前眼表状况及术后视觉功能恢复情况。方法 回顾性分析2018年2月至2020年5月成都市第六人民医院眼科诊治的80例共同性斜视患者的临床资料,其中,共同性外斜视患者46例(A组),共同性内斜视患者34例(B组)。对比两组患者术前泪河高度、刺激性泪河高度、眼红指数、第一次非侵袭性泪膜破裂时间(Break up time, BUT),平均BUT及术后融合范围、斜视角、立体视和双眼视觉功能分级情况。结果 A组的泪河高度、第一次BUT、平均BUT均高于B组,结膜眼红指数低于B组(P<0.05)。术后,A组的开散性融合范围高于B组,而辐辏性融合范围低于B组(P<0.05);A组近视33 cm、视远5 m的斜视角均高于B组(P<0.05);A组近视33 cm、视远5m的立体视均低于B组(P<0.05)。术前,两组视觉功能0~Ⅲ级占比差异无统计学意义(P>0.05);术后,A组视觉功能0级、Ⅰ级占比低于B组,而Ⅱ级、Ⅲ级占比高于B组(P<0.05)。Spearman相关性分析显示,泪河高度、刺激后泪河高度、第一次BUT、平均BUT与术后双眼视觉功能分级呈正相关;结膜眼红指数、睫状眼红指数与术后双眼视觉功能分级呈负相关。受试者工作特征(Receiver operating characteristic,ROC)曲线分析显示,泪河高度、刺激后泪河高度、第一次BUT、平均BUT、结膜眼红指数、睫状眼红指数预测共双眼视觉功能的曲线下面积(Area under curve,AUC)分别为0.776、0.749、0.737、0.761、0.754、0.855(P<0.05)。结论 与共同性内斜视患者相比,共同性外斜视患者的术前眼表泪液情况会对其术后视觉功能产生更大影响,术后共同性内、外斜视患者视觉功能分级比治疗前均有所改善,但共同性外斜视患者改善更为明显。
