In order to reduce the physical impairment caused by signal distortion,in this paper,we investigate symbol detection with Deep Learning(DL)methods to improve bit-error performance in the optical communication system.Many DL-based methods have been applied to such systems to improve bit-error performance.Referring to the speech-to-text method of automatic speech recognition,this paper proposes a signal-to-symbol method based on DL and designs a receiver for symbol detection on single-polarized optical communications modes.To realize this detection method,we propose a non-causal temporal convolutional network-assisted receiver to detect symbols directly from the baseband signal,which specifically integrates most modules of the receiver.Meanwhile,we adopt three training approaches for different signal-to-noise ratios.We also apply a parametric rectified linear unit to enhance the noise robustness of the proposed network.According to the simulation experiments,the biterror-rate performance of the proposed method is close to or even superior to that of the conventional receiver and better than the recurrent neural network-based receiver. 展开更多

All optical network (AON) is a hot topic in recent studies of optical fiber communications. Key techniques in AON include optical switching/routing, optical cross connection (OXC), all optical wavelength conversion (AOWC), all optical buffering, etc. Opti- cal switching/routing is in fact wavelength switching/ routing. OXC and wavelength conversion (WC) are introduced into cross nodes so that a virtual wavelength path is established. With WC, communication route is formed only if there is unused wavelength in an individual segment link. The rate wavelength usage is thus greatly increased. The blocking rate of network can be reduced by adding WCs, especially for huge capacity multiple nodes ones. Therefore, WC has attracted much attention in basic research of optical communication and is used in some experimental networks.This dissertation studies all optic wavelength conversion and its application, with the contributions in the following five aspects. 展开更多

The system achieves the measurement of gas density information mainly by demodulating the cavity length of EF- PI fiber optical sensor. There are many ways to achieve the demodulation of the cavity length. For shortcomings of the big intensity demodulation error and complex structure of phase demodulation, this paper proposes that BP neural net-work is used to locate the special peak points in normalized interference spectrum and combining the advantages of the unimodal and bimodal measurement achieves the demodulation of the cavity length. Through online simulation and actual measurement, the results show that the peak positioning technology based on BP neural network can not only achieve high-precision demodulation of the cavity length, but also achieve an absolute measurement of cavity length in large dynamic range. 展开更多

A general formula about the polarization jitter is concluded in polarization multiplexing (PM) system based on two orthogonal linear polarization states when the best polarization correction is used. A 100 Gb/s PM system based on NRZ code is investigated by simulation, and the Stocks parameter about polarization jitter and Poincare sphere diagrams are got for different power and phase difference of two orthogonal polarized light. We propose and experimentally validate an optical true time delay beamforming scheme with straightforward integration into hybrid optical/millimeter(mm)-wave access networks. In the proposed approach, the most complex functions, including the beamforming network, are implemented in a central office, reducing the complexity and cost of remote antenna units. Different cores in a multi-core fiber are used to distribute the modulated signals to high-speed photodetectors acting as heterodyne mixers. The mm-wave carrier frequency is fixed to 50 GHz(VBand), thereby imposing a progressive delay between antenna elements of a few picoseconds. That true time delay is achieved with an accuracy lower than 1 ps and low phase noise. 展开更多

The factors which cause additional losses of guidance optical fiber in wound state were analyzed.A mathematical model used to analyze the macro-bend losses in the cross region producing in the precision winding process was established.For an actual guidance optical fiber,the measured data of the fiber's additional losses under low temperature and the loss curves with radius were given in the paper.The simulation results were compared with the test data.It shows that the additional losses of optical fiber caused by bending and low temperature can meet the actual requirements of the fiber optical guidance system.The established model can be used to predict the change trend of fiber losses in the winding process with a certain tensile force. 展开更多

With the rise of cloud computing in recent years, a large number of streaming media has yielded an exponential growth in network traffic. With the now present 5G and future 6G, the development of the Internet of Things (IoT), social networks, video on demand, and mobile multimedia platforms, the backbone network is bound to bear more traffic. The transmission capacity of Single Core Fiber (SCFs) may be limited in the future and Spatial Division Multiplexing (SDM) leveraging multi-core fibers promises to be one of the solutions for the future. Currently, Elastic optical networks (EONs) with multi-core fibers (MCFs) are a kind of SDM-enabled EONs (SDM-EON) used to enhance the capacity of transmission. The resource assignment in MCFs, however, will be subject to Inter-Core Crosstalk (IC-XT), hence, reducing the effectiveness of transmission. This research highlights the routing, modulation level, and spectrum assignment (RMLSA) problems with anycast traffic mode in SDM-EON. A multipath routing scheme is used to reduce the blocking rate of anycast traffic in SDM-EON with the limit of inter-core crosstalk. Hence, an integer linear programming (ILP) problem is formulated and a heuristic algorithm is proposed. Two core-assignment strategies: First-Fit (FF) and Random-Fit (RF) are used and their performance is evaluated through simulations. The simulation results show that the multipath routing method is better than the single-path routing method in terms of blocking ratio and spectrum utilization ratio. Moreover, the FF is better than the RF in low traffic load in terms of blocking ratio (BR), and the opposite in high traffic load. The FF is better than the RF in terms of a spectrum utilization ratio. In an anycast protection problem, the proposed algorithm has a lower BR than previous works. 展开更多

Prediction-based dynamic routing intelligent algorithm in power optical communication network

New energy power generation equipment has the characteristics of diurnal, perturbative, seasonal, and periodic power generation, which makes new power optical communication network(POCN) more dynamic and changeable. This is directly reflected in the dynamics of the link risk and service importance of the POCN. In this paper, aiming at the problem of the dynamic importance of service in POCN, and the resulting power optical communication network reliability decline problem, a new energy POCN dynamic routing intelligence algorithm based on service importance prediction is proposed. Based on the short-term power generation of new energy power station, the importance of each service and the risk degree of each link are predicted. Link weights are dynamically adjusted, and k-shortest path(KSP) algorithm is used to calculate route results. When network resources are insufficient, low-importance services can give way to prevent a large number of high-importance services from being blocked. Simulation results show that compared with the traditional KSP algorithm, the prediction-based dynamic routing intelligent(P-DRI) algorithm can reduce the service blocking probability by 55.59%, and reduce the average importance of blocking services by 44.77% at the cost of about 6.17% of the calculation delay. 展开更多

Structural health monitoring(SHM)in service has attracted increasing attention for years.Load localization on a structure is studied hereby.Two algorithms,i.e.,support vector machine(SVM)method and back propagation neural network(BPNN)algorithm,are proposed to identify the loading positions individually.The feasibility of the suggested methods is evaluated through an experimental program on a carbon fiber reinforced plastic laminate.The experimental tests involve in application of four optical fiber-based sensors for strain measurement at discrete points.The sensors are specially designed fiber Bragg grating(FBG)in small diameter.The small-diameter FBG sensors are arrayed in 2-D on the laminate surface.The testing results indicate that the loading position could be detected by the proposed method.Using SVM method,the 2-D FBG sensors can approximate the loading location with maximum error less than 14 mm.However,the maximum localization error could be limited to about 1 mm by applying the BPNN algorithm.It is mainly because the convergence conditions(mean square error)can be set in advance,while SVM cannot. 展开更多

A type of combined optical fiber interferometric acoustic emission sensor is proposed. The sensor can be independent on the laser source and make light interference by matching the lengths of two arms,so it can be used to monitor the health of large structure. Theoretical analyses indicate that the system can be equivalent to the Michelson interferometer with two optical fiber loop reflectors,and its sensitivity has been remarkably increased because of the decrease of the losses of light energy. PZT is powered by DC regulator to control the operating point of the system,so the system can accurately detect feeble vibration which is generated by ultrasonic waves propagating on the surface of solid. The amplitude and the frequency of feeble vibration signal are obtained by detecting the output light intensity of interferometer and using Fourier transform technique. The results indicate that the system can be used to detect the acoustic emission signals by the frequency characteristics. 展开更多
