In the middle of December 2018,Hungary has suddenly appeared in the headlines of international news.Although marketing teaches that“all PR is good PR”,as a lawyer, the author thinks it is worth examining the facts behind the catchy headlines well before making our business decisions. The news is based on the amendment of the Labour Code, which is called the“Slavery Act”in the media. The demonstrations and atrocities reported by the international media have broken out as a result of the interpretation of the amendment by some part of the media, which was recently adopted by Parliament. The President of Hungary promulgated the act when this article was completed. What does the new amendment say?Could an employee become a“slave”of the employer,or rather it would help people’s prosperity by allow them to work more to earn more money?Considering the interests of the citizens/employees,can the choice between adoption or rejection of the law be the only possibility, does the new system also have a third possibility using the law’s and the economy’s own logic,or should only a small“fine-tuning”be implemented on the new system? 展开更多

Burnout is a growing concern across numerous professions and industries worldwide. It has increased for many people since the onset of COVID-19 due to the stress, uncertainty, and changes brought on by the pandemic.Burnout is also a significant issue in the field of medicine, particularly urology, where residents face long working hours and high workloads, leading to physical and mental health problems,as well as limited opportunities for rest and rejuvenation. This alarming trend highlights the need for more effective measures to address burnout and promote employee well-being and job satisfaction.A thorough search of electronic databases such as PubMed,Scopus, and Google Scholar was conducted to obtain pertinent articles using relevant keywords.Retrieved articles were screened for relevance, with duplicates and irrelevant articles excluded.Thematic and critical review analysis was conducted on chosen articles, identifying key themes and contributing factors related to burnout in urology residents. The hidden struggle of overworked urology residents and their overlooked burnout represents a complex issue that requires systemic change and individual-level interventions.Organizations must prioritize employee well-being by providing adequate support and resources for managing burnout.Additionally, promoting effective leadership practices that prioritize resident well-being over any personal or institution recognitions or gains is crucial. These steps will improve the quality of care while mitigating negative outcomes for residents. 展开更多

Fighting on the frontlines against the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic,health workers are at high risk of virus infection and overwork-related sudden death and disorders including cardiovascular diseases and stress. When we noted the increase of overwork-related sudden deaths in physicians and nurses in the first 2 weeks after lockdown of Wuhan,we organized the‘Touching Your Heart’program by remote monitoring, aiming to protect health workers from overwork-related disorders through integrated volunteer work by physicians and medical engineering researchers from Wuhan Huoshenshan Hospital,Nanjing Medical University, and Tiangong University.By remotely monitoring the health conditions of the medical aid team working atWuhan Huoshenshan Hospital, the programsuccessfully helped in avoiding severe overwork-related events. The results from our program should be used to remind frontline health workers around the world to take precautions against overworked-related severe events, and showthat precision monitoring is effective in improving work efficiency and maintaining a sustainable workforce during emergency situations like a pandemic. 展开更多
