A version management model of PDM system and its realization

Based on the key function of version management in PDM system, this paper discusses the function and the realization of version management and the transitions of version states with a workflow. A directed aeyclic graph is used to describe a version model. Three storage modes of the directed acyelic graph version model in the database, the bumping block and the PDM working memory are presented and the conversion principle of these three modes is given. The study indicates that building a dynamic product structure configuration model based on versions is the key to resolve the problem. Thus a version model of single product object is built. Then the version management model in product structure configuration is built and the application of version management of PDM syster is presented as a case.

Research on the J2EE-based product database management system

The basic frame and the design idea of J2EE-based Product Data Management (PDM) system are presented. This paper adopts the technology of Object-Oriented to realize the database design and builds the information model of this PDM system. The integration key technology of PDM and CAD systems are discussed, the isomerous interface characteristics between CAD and PDM systems are analyzed, and finally, the integration mode of the PDM and CAD systems is given. Using these technologies, the integration of PDM and CAD systems is realized and the consistence of data in PDM and CAD systems is kept. Finally, the Product Data Management system is developed, which has been tested on development process of the hydraulic generator. The running process is stable and safety.

Key Techniques for the Development of Web-Based PDM System

Some key techniques for the development of web-based product data management （PDM） system are introduced. The four-tiered B/S architecture of a PDM system-BITPDM is introduced first, followed by its design and implementation, including virtual data vault, flexible coding system, document management, product structure and configuration management, workflow/process and product maturity management. BITPDM can facilitate the activities from new product introduction phase to manufacturing, and manage the product data andtheir dynamic changing history. Based on Microsoft. NET, XML, web service and SOAP techniques, BITPDM realizes the integration and efficient management of product information.

System View of Product Data Management and Its Application

A product data management system for a manufacturing enterprise is to make sure that the proper product data can be communicated to the right people at the right time.This paper describes a system analysis paradigm for data analysis in a product data management(PDM)development.Three aspects of the paradigm,i.e.,function,structure and behavior are rep- resented.The use of the paradigm explains why so many kinds of objects are necessary in a commercial database matrix and what models are available for developing a PDM application.As another result,a lot of models are derived from the analysis of product data system paradigm to model product data and PDM database definitions.

Research on Product Data Management Based on Multi-agent System

PDM (product data management) is one kind of techniques based on software and database, which integrates information and process related to products. But it is not enough to perform the complication of PDM in enterprises. Then the mechanism to harmonize all kinds of information and process is needed. The paper introduces a novel approach to implement the intelligent monitor of PDM based on MAS (multi agent system). It carries out the management of information and process by MC (monitor center). The paper first puts forward the architecture of the whole system, then defines the structure of MC and its interoperation mode.

Establishment of Person and Enterprise Process Model in Product Data Management System

Before the implementation of product data management (PDM) system, person model and enterprise process model (EPM) must be firstly established. For the convenience of project management, all the related users must be allocated to the “Person User Role Group” net. Based on the person model and the direction of information flow, the EPM is established subsequently. The EPM consists of several release levels, in which the access controls are defined. The EPM procedure shows the blueprint of the workflow process structure. The establishment of person model and EPM in an enterprise has been instanced at the end of this paper.

Analyses on web-based product data management

This paper is concerned with the development of product data management （PDM） systems--WPDM systems based on web technologies. As a tool to integrate information, traditional PDM system has many benefits for the companies in such aspects as improving design productivity, better control over projects and so on. With the maturing of web technologies, the advantages of WPDM system are obvious. We will show these advantages in detail in Part 3. WPDM system is built on three-tier application model to provide security and flexibility, they are back-end, middle layer and front-end. The basic designs in each layer will be briefly introduced in Part 4. In the future, WPDM will be extended to integrate with other applications to provide a complete web-based engineering environment.

Integrating Polymorphic PDMs

Some implementing strategies and procedures are proposed.

CAD-VR geometry and meta data synchronization for design review applications

In this paper we present the MEMPHIS middleware framework for the integration of CAD geometries and assemblies with derived Virtual Reality (VR) models and its specific meta data and attributes. The goal of this work is to connect real time VR applications, especially for the Design Review, with enterprise software storing and managing CAD models (Product Data Man- agement—PDM). The preparation of VR models requires expert knowledge, is time consuming, and includes selection of required CAD data, tessellation, healing of unwanted gaps, applying materials and textures, and special surface and light effects. During the Design Review process, decisions are made concerning the choice of materials and surface forms. While materials can be switched directly on the VR model, the modification of part geometries must be made on the CAD model. Our system synchronizes modi- fications of the original CAD geometries and of attributes that are relevant for the realistic rendering using the PLM Services standard. Thus, repeated work for the VR preparation can be avoided.

Research on Digital Product Modeling Key Technologies of Digital Manufacturing

With the globalization and diversification of the market and the rapid development of Information Technology (IT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI),the digital revolution of manufacturing is coming.One of the key technologies in digital manufacturing is product digital modeling.This paper firstly analyzes the information and features of the product digital model during each stage in the product whole lifecycle,then researches on the three critical technologies of digital modeling in digital man- ufacturing-product modeling,standard for the exchange of product model data and digital product data management.And the potential signification of the product digital model during the process of digital manufacturing is concluded-product digital model integrates primary features of each stage during the product whole lifecycle based on graphic features,applies STEP as data ex- change mechanism,and establishes PDM system to manage the large amount,complicated and dynamic product data to implement the product digital model data exchange,sharing and integration.

Object Management Framework for CAx Information Management

As CAD/CAM becomes more and more popular, efficiently managing large amounts of engineering data becomes essential for improving design efficiency and quality. This paper analyses five basic features of product data management and combines them with real industrial examples. Then, an object oriented product data management model is presented. To carry out the model, the paper presents the architecture of the Cax information management and integration system (Cax IMIS), and focuses on its core technology, implementation of an object management framework, and discusses the process of realizing the inherent attributes, relations, and messages between objects using the object dictionary and storing detail information about the persistent objects in relation database management system (RDBMS). The method provides an effective object management framework for Cax IMIS.
