Methods: The images of enhanced CT, MRI and PET-CT scans, performed at intervals -〈 20 days on 57 NPC patients from July 2004 to February 2007, were selected and reviewed. The endpoints of the comparison were sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV) of Enhanced CT, MRI and PET-CT, based on histopathologic findings or clinical imaging follow-up for at least 6 months. Results: For detecting skull base invasion of NPC, the sensitivity of enhanced CT, MRI and PET-CT were 68.18%, 84.09%, 97.67% respectively; speci- ficity were 76.92%, 69.23%, 57.14% respectively; accuracy were 70.18%, 80.7%, 87.72% respectively; PPV were 90.9%, 90.24%, 87.5% respectively; NPV were 41.67%, 56.25%, 88.89% respectively. Conclusion: PET-CT has obvious advantages in sensitivity over CT (P 〈 0.05) and MRI, better than the two methods in accuracy and NPV and may be more valuable for new patients in detecting skull base invasion of NPC patients.展开更多

Surgery continues to be the only treatment that offers pot...Important challenges for imaging of pancreatic cancer are the late presentation of the disease and the fact that therapeutic management is of limited success. Surgery continues to be the only treatment that offers potential cure. Therefore, defining whether the patient has an operable tumor remains the ultimate aim of imaging in pancreatic cancer. PET and PET/ CT with fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) are of value in differential diagnosis between pancreatitis and carcinoma and for the detection of remote metastases, but relatively inefficient in the detection of nodal disease. The detection of recurrent disease is of little clinical consequence. FDG-PET may be considered as a prognostic marker for patient survival or therapy response, but evidence for these applications is lacking. Future applications will broaden the spectrum of tracers applied using molecules for the assessment of proliferation and detection of receptors.展开更多

Diagnostic sensitivity of these less invasive modalities for detection of myocardial viability was compared to invasive coronary angiography. Inter- and intra-observer agreement was assessed for di-agnostic performance of SPECT and PET.ResultsOf all patients with proven CAD, 50% had triple vessel disease. Diagnostic sensitivity of SPECT, PET and echocardiography was 90%, 100% and 80% at patient-based assessment, respectively. Excellent agreement was achieved between inter-observer and intra-observer agreement of the diagnostic value of SPECT and PET in myocardial viability (k= 0.9). Conclusion18F-FDG PET has high diagnostic value in the assessment of myocardial viability in patients with known CAD when com-pared to SPECT and echocardiography. The rate of missed diagnosis, the rate of mi.sdiagnosis. the sensitivity and specificity were calculated and analyzed. Results:Compared with the pathology results, the misdiagnosis rate. the rate of missed diagnosis. the sensitivity and specificity of FDG-PET for breast cancer were 0% , 36. 36%. 63. 63% and 100%, respectively. To those who had a neoplasm no more than 2 cm in diameter, the rate of missed diagnosis was as high as 41. 67%. To 33 breast cancer patients, the misdiagnosis rate, the rate of missed diagnosis, the sensitivity and specificity for lymph node metastasis were 18. 75%, 41. 18%, 58. 82% and 81. 25%, respectively. It has various clinical symptoms proceding to the diagnosis of tumors. Although the abnormality of anti-neuronal antibodies is suggestive of PNS and tumors, there exist many false positive and false negative cases. The diagnosis of PNS is usually a challenge in clinic. Positron emission tomography/computed tomography(PET/CT) imaging is an anatomical and functional fusion imaging method, which provides the whole-body information by single scan. Fluorodeoxyglucose(FDG) PET/CT imaging can not only detect potential malignant lesions in the whole body, but also assess functional abnormality in the brain. In this review, the mechanism, clinical manifestation, diagnostic procedure and the recent progress of the utility of FDG PET/CT in PNS are introduced respectively.展开更多
