A problem of the air pollution control in China is getting to know a regional contribution rate of internal and external source of PM2.5. In this paper,Set Pair Analysis( SPA) method is proposed to calculate the contribution rate of PM2.5in Dongguan City. Due to geographic, meteorological factors and the low concentration of air pollutants in Qingxi area, the PM2.5in this place is mainly contributed by the regional transport of air pollutants from other inside areas of Dongguan, and less affected by the outside of Dongguan. So the concentration of PM2.5in Qingxi area can reflect the Dongguan's basic background concentration of PM2.5. On the basis of the basic background concentration, firstly the concentration of each pollutant components is divided into the internal part and the mixed part. Secondly using the source apportionment samples of five monitoring sites in Dongguan we can respectively construct a sample set A and an evaluation set B. Thirdly the SPA is operated onto the mixed part in terms of set B.At last the connection degree between the concentration of each pollutant components and external source and internal source will be calculated, that is the contribution rate. The research reveals that the contribution rate of internal source and external source of PM2.5in Dongguan City is 83%and 17% respectively, which roughly met expectations. This method is simple and effective and it can provide a reference for the government taking reduction measures to control PM2.5pollutants emission. 展开更多

INTRODUCTION In recent years, with the gradual improvement of road construction, the rapid increase of the number of motor vehicles, vehicle emissions and the current poor vehicle performance, poor vehicle maintenance, higher emission factor and so on, air pollution caused by the traffic issues becomes the focus of people attention. The harmful substances are gradually accumulated to atmosphere particles surrounding roads due to dust particles (soil dusts, road dusts, construction dusts), coal emissions, industrial emissions, vehicle emissions, biomass burning, secondary particles, which has a certain harmful influence to the atmosphere, soil and plants surrounding roads. 展开更多

The force analysis of overconstrained PMs is relatively complex and difficult, for which the methods have always been a research hotspot. However, few liter- atures analyze the characteristics and application scopes of the various methods, which is not convenient for researchers and engineers to master and adopt them prop- erly. A review of the methods for force analysis of both passive and active overconstrained PMs is presented. The existing force analysis methods for these two kinds of overconstrained PMs are classified according to their main ideas. Each category is briefly demonstrated and evaluated from such aspects as the calculation amount, the compre- hensiveness of considering limbs' deformation, and the existence of explicit expressions of the solutions, which provides an important reference for researchers and engi- neers to quickly find a suitable method. The similarities and differences between the statically indeterminate prob- lem of passive overconstrained PMs and that of active overconstrained PMs are discussed, and a universal method for these two kinds of overconstrained PMs is pointed out. The existing deficiencies and development directions of the force analysis methods for overconstrained systems are indicated based on the overview. 展开更多

This study investigates the correlation between PM10 and meteorological factors such as wind speed, atmospheric visibility, dew point, relative humidity, and ambient temperature during a brown haze episode. In order to identify the potential sources of PMlo during brown haze episode, respirable par- ticulate matter (PM10) was collected during both non-haze days and haze days and further analyzed for metallic elements, ionic species, and carbonaceous contents. Among them, ionic species contributed 45-64% to PM10, while metallic elements contributed 7-21% to PM10 which was smaller than the other chemical constituents. The average OC/EC ratio (42) in haze days was about three times of the average OC/EC ratio (14) in non-haze days. By using chemical mass balance (CMB) receptor model, the major sources were apportioned, including traffics, incinerators, coal combustion, steel industry, petrochemical industry, and secondary aerosols, etc. The contribution to PM10 concentration of each source was calcu- lated for all the samples collected. The results showed that coal combustion was the major source of PM10 in non-haze days and secondary aerosols were the major source in haze days, followed by petrochemical industry, incinerators, and traffics, while other sources had negligible effect. 展开更多

Trace metals in PM2.5 were measured at one industrial site and one urban site during September, 2010 in Ji'nan, eastern China. Individual aerosol particles and PM2.5 samples were collected concurrently at both sites. Mass concentrations of eleven trace metals (i.e., Al, Ti, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, Sr, Ba, and Pb) and one metalloid (i.e., As) were measured by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES). The result shows that mass concentrations of PM2.5 (130μg/m3) and trace metals (4.03 μg/m3) at the industrial site were 1.3 times and 1.7 times higher than those at the urban site, respectively, indicating that industrial activities nearby the city can emit trace metals into the surrounding atmosphere. Fe concentrations were the highest among all the measured trace metals at both sites, with concentrations of 1.04 ixg/m 3 at the urban site and 2.41 Itg/m3 at the industrial site, respectively. In addition, Pb showed the highest enrichment factors at both sites, suggesting the emissions from anthropogenic activities existed around the city. Correlation coefficient analysis and principal component analysis revealed that Cu, Fe, Mn, Pb, and Zn were originated from vehicular traffic and industrial emissions at both sites; As, Cr, and part of Pb from coal-fired power plant; Ba and Ti from natural soil. Based on the transmission electron microscopy analysis, we found that most of the trace metals were internally mixed with secondary sulfate/organic particles. These internally mixed trace metals in the urban air may have different toxic abilities compared with externally mixed trace metals. 展开更多
