Treatment of Oily Wastewater Using Composite Flocculant of Polysilicate Ferro-Aluminum Sulfate – Rectorite

In this study, a novel flocculant was prepared by an inorganic polymetric flocculant (IPF) - polysilicate ferro- aluminum sulfate (PSFA) and rectorite (REC). The structure of the PSFA-REC composite was characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD), in order to determine the optimal temperature. The flocculation test was made at 25℃, 45℃ and 65℃, the results indicated that when the temperature was 65℃, the removal efficiency of the oil and COD was the best, which was 87.2% and 92.6% respectively. Then by comparisons among rectorite (REC), PSFA and the composite PSFA-REC at the temperature of 65℃ and the optimal dosage of 11 mg/L, the composite PSFA-REC showed better flocculation performance than flocculant REC and PSFA alone. 展开更多

Orthorhombic copper polysilicate, CuSiO3, is isotypic to the spin-Peierls compound CuGeO3 and represents a further example of a quasi-one-dimensional spin = 1/2 antiferromagnetic Heisenberg chain system. This is a representation of the first Raman and IR/FIR spectra for CuSiO3, measured at room temperature on polycrystalline samples. A comparison of the optical phonons, predicted by a factor group analysis, with those observed for the CuGeO3 prototype, is presented. A mode assignment for the silicate is given. Surface effects due to a very small crystallite size may cause additional broad bands observed in the Raman spectrum of CuSiO3. From the analysis of the Davydov doublet an intralayer-to-interlayer bond strength of about 40 is derived for the silicate, which is about 20% lower than for the isotypic germanate, allowing for different magnetic responses at low temperature. 展开更多

The relationship of t... MQ silicone resins were prepared through hydrolytic condensation of ethyl polysilicate or tetraethoxysilane and hexamethyl disiloxane. The unit ratio of the MQ resins was determined by Si-29-NMR. The relationship of the unit ratio of the product resins with that in the feed was studied. When the reaction was catalyzed by aqueous hydrochloric acid, and the unit ratio of M to Q in the feed was more than 1, the unit ratio of the product was usually lower than that of the feed. The MQ silicon with an unit ratio of M/Q > 2 could not be obtained. However, if the reaction was catalyzed by concentrated sulfuric acid and the reverse hydrolysis process was employed, MQ silicone resin with very high M/Q ratio was successfully prepared. 展开更多

A new ternary coagulant polysilicate ferromanganese(PSFM),composed of Fe,Mn and Si,was designed.Its coagulation performance for dye removal was investigated systematically together with the impact of several key operational parameters.The experimental results indicate that an excellent coagulation efficiency with higher than 95%color removal and higher than 94%total organic carbon(TOC)removal can be obtained at an optimized molar ratio of Si∶Fe∶Mn(5∶5∶1).The coagulation performance of PSFM coagulant was studied comparatively with other conventional coagulants,e.g.poly aluminium chloride(PAC),Al_(2)(SO_(4))_(3)and FeCl_(3).Additionally,various characterization techniques were applied to get detailed morphological and compositional information of PSFM coagulants.Furthermore,the underlying mechanism for improved coagulant performance was proposed based on these results.These results have exemplified quantitatively that PSFM coagulant exhibits a great potential as a promising material for application in various environmental fields. 展开更多
