In order to reveal the unique wave propagation characteristics of such a model, the band structures of locally resonant(LR) elastic PC Euler nanobeams with and without resonators, the band structures of LR piezoelectric PC Euler nanobeams with and without resonators, as well as the band structures of LR elastic/piezoelectric PC Euler nanobeams with resonators attached on PZT-4, with resonators attached on epoxy, and without resonators are compared. The results demonstrate that adding resonators indeed plays an active role in opening and widening band gaps. Moreover, the influence rules of different parameters on the band gaps of LR elastic/piezoelectric PC Euler nanobeams with resonators attached on epoxy are discussed, which will play an active role in the further realization of active control of wave propagations.展开更多

The band structures of three lattices were compared and analyzed. It is concluded that the band-gap of honeycomb lattices is located at lower frequency fields, compared with square and triangle lattices. When the filling fraction is between 0.091 and 0.6046, the honeycomb lattices have larger band gaps and gain an advantage over square and triangle lattices. In addition, the gap map is introduced to illustrate the influences of filling fraction on the number, the relative width and the limit frequency of the band-gap.展开更多

Hereto, we analyze the platform planning problem and present nonlinear optimal model aiming at maximizing the task completion qualities. Firstly, we take into account the relation among tasks and build the single task nonlinear optimal model with a set of platform constraints. The Lagrange relaxation method and the pruning strategy are used to solve the model. Secondly, this paper presents optimization-based planning algorithms for efficiently allocating platforms to multiple tasks. To achieve the balance of the resource assignments among tasks, the m-best assignment algorithm and the pair-wise exchange(PWE)method are used to maximize multiple tasks completion qualities. Finally, a series of experiments are designed to verify the superiority and effectiveness of the proposed model and algorithms.展开更多

Transfer matrix method (TMM) is employed for 1D PCs, both finite difference time domain method (FDTD) and plane wave expansion method (PWE) are employed for 2D PCs. The result shows that the photonic bandgaps (PBG) are directly affected by crystal type, crystal lattice constant, modulation of refractive index and periodicity, and it is should be useful for design of different type photonic crystals with the required PBG and functional devices. Finally, as an example, a near-IR 1D PCs narrow filter was designed.展开更多

It is devised with two quasi waveguides and a circular PCRR. The simulation results are obtained using 2D Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method. The Photonic Band Gap (PBG) is calculated by Plane Wave Expansion (PWE) method. The BPFs allow the entire C-band (BPF1) and L+U bands (BPF2), which are extended from 1530 to 1565 nm (C band) and 1565 to 1675 nm (L+U bands). The computed bandwidth of BPF1 and BPF2 is 32 nm and 97 nm respectively. The size of the device is minimized from a scale of few tens of millimeters to the order of micrometers. The overall size of the BPF1 is around 12.8 μm × 11.4 μm and 11.4 μm × 11.4 μm for BPF2.展开更多

The principle of measurement is based on the linear variation of the transmitted field emerging from the PCF with respect to concentration of potassium chloride. Field distribution in photonic crystal structure is simulated using plane wave expansion (PWE) method. Simulation result reveals that the intensity of transmitted light varies linearly with respect to concentration of potassium chloride filled in the air holes.展开更多
