The result indicates that the mass gain during static oxidation of the material under normal atmosphere follows the parabolic law. Oxide increases with increasing temperature and prolonging time. It has good oxidation resistance. The product of oxidation of the material is TiO2. Therefore, the volume of the material expands. The oxide film is destroyed because residual stress inside the oxide film is released. Proper oxidation is beneficial to the improvement of bending strength of Al2O3-30%TiCN-0.2%Y2O3 composite. The strength increase is up to 4.5%.展开更多

Oxidation kinetics and oxide scales morphologies were examined by mass gain measurement, scanning electron microscopy(SEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). The oxidation behavior of the alloy approximately follows a parabolic rate law. Moreover, annealing twins defect structure in matrix deteriorates the oxidation resistance of alloy due to the improvement of diffusion rates for alloying elements and oxygen atoms. At 800 °C, the microstructure is primarily composed of Ni O and Cr1.3Fe0.7O6 and the initial annealing twins structure is visible and Mo-rich phases are emerged to approach boundary of oxide scales. At 1000 °C, however, the morphology microstructure of oxide scales consists of oxide particle with fine Cr oxides and large Ni oxides by inlaying each other, whilst Mo-rich phases hardly appear closing to the interface of oxide scales.展开更多

Electron probe microanalysis, scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction were used to characterize the product phases in the joints. The results show that two intermediate phases form in the sequence of NiAl3 and Ni2Al3 during solidification. After annealed, Ni2Al3 and NiAl3 still exist in the joints of the couples. The reasons for the formation of Ni2Al3 and NiAl3, as well as the absence of NiAl, Ni5Al3 and Ni3Al were discussed, respectively. The growth kinetics of both product phase layers indicates that their growth obeys the parabolic rate law. The activation energies and frequency factors for NiAl3 and Ni2Al3 phases were also calculated according to the Arrhenius equation.展开更多

The weight of both specimens was continuously measured by TGA (thermogravimetric appar...Oxidation study of Fe-36Ni and Fe-46Ni alloys was conducted on the effect of temperature under a 0.2 atm oxygen partial pressure. The weight of both specimens was continuously measured by TGA (thermogravimetric apparatus) at various temperatures and it was found that the weigh was gained with an increase of temperature. The oxidation behavior of Fe-36/46Ni alloys was found to be followed by parabolic rate law and the rate constants were linearly proportional to the temperature. In addition, activation energies of Fe-36Ni and Fe-46Ni alloys were calculated to be 106.49 kJ/mol and 58.99 kJ/mol, respectively. The cross sectional area of oxide scale was examined by SEM (scanning electron microscopy) and analyzed by XRD (X-ray diffraction) and EDX (energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy).展开更多
