From the analysis, we deduce the operating frequency region of the single-mode propagation. Based on this property, a spoof SPPs lowpass filter is then constituted in the microwave frequency. By introducing a transmission zero at the lower frequency band using a pair of stepped-impedance stubs, a wide passband filter is further realized. The proposed filter is fed by.a transducer composed of a microstrip line with a flaring ground. The simulated results show that the presented filter has an extremely wide upper stopband in addition to excellent passband filtering characteristics such as low loss, wide band, and high square ratio. A prototype passband filter is also fabricated to validate the predicted performances. The proposed spoof-SPPs filter is believed to be very promising for other surface waveguide components in microwave and terahertz bands.展开更多

A one-dimensional photonic crystal (1D PC) is comprised of alternate dielectric layer and vacuum layer. Two quantum wells (QWs) as defects can be constructed by sandwiching two plasma slabs symmetrically in the 1D PC, and a dual-narrowband pass-band filter is formed. In this work, spectral responsivity measurements of a mono-crystalline, a poly-crystalline, a CIGS thin film and a bifacial module were measured using xenon-based flash type solar simulator system and a set of band pass filters. For the comprehensive characterization of parameters that may influence the spectral responsivity measurements, initially the simulator system was characterized both optically and thermally according to the IEC60904-9 and IEC60891 standard requirements. The optical characterizations in terms of spectral match, spatial non-uniformity and temporal instability indicate that the measured results (~3.0%, ~0.30% and ~0.20%) according to the IEC 60904-9 standard’s classification requirements correspond to A+A+A+ classes. Moreover, thermal characterizations in terms of the temperature uniformity show that over the 2 × 2 m area temperature uniformity of simulator system’s light distribution (1ºC) is almost two times better than the IEC 60891 standard requirements (±2ºC). Next, PV modules were electrically stabilized according to the IEC 61215-2 standard requirement’s (stability test) to reduce the fluctuations in their electrical performance parameters. Then, using the band pass filters, temperature controlled xenon-based solar simulator system and a reference PV module of the spectral responsivity of PV modules were measured from 400 nm to 1100 nm with 50 nm steps with relative uncertainty of 10-3 level.展开更多

To achieve this, we need to keep the signal in digital form for as much portion of the circuitry as possible, so that the implementation could be carried out by programmable digital processors. For this purpose, the incoming radio frequency (RF) signal is down converted to baseband spectrum using band pass sampling method. Research works carried out so far in this field have developed a few algorithms for band pass sampling. But, these algorithms are not much useful for most of the mobile communication systems and they use complex methodology for computing the sampling frequency values. In order to use the SDR platform to integrate all current wireless technologies, an efficient, cost effective and less complex algorithm that can be labelled as universal band pass sampling algorithm is developed in this paper for multiple mobile systems. This algorithm is based on a novel idea of inserting guard bands between the signals which reduces the design complexities of perfect ADC and sharp cut off filters. Using this algorithm, valid sampling frequency ranges and corresponding IF values are calculated for down converting RF signals. The algorithm is tested for six RF signals of different wireless technologies which are integrated and simultaneously down converted using SDR based front end receiver and thus the system multiplies the base station capacity by a factor of six. The simulation results are obtained and shown in this paper which proves that the algorithm developed works well for most of the wireless technologies.展开更多

Two types of configurational disorders, relevant to the cylinder position and cylinder size respectively, are taken into account. It is found that the phononic band gap and the guide band are sensitive to the disorders, and generally become narrower with the increasing disorders. It is also found that the waveguide side walls without disorder can significantly prevent the guide modes in the waveguide from influence by the disorders in the crystals to a large amount.展开更多

By using the super cell method based on the plane-wave expansion method (PWE), we study the three configurations formed by water objects (either a sphere of different sizes or a cube) located at the vertices of simple cubic (SC) lattice and surrounded by mercury background. The numerical results show that ABGs larger than the original SC structure for all the three configurations can be obtained by adjusting the length-diameter ratio of adjacent objects but keeping the filling fraction (f = 0.25) of the unit cell unchanged. We also compare our results with that of 3D solid composites and find that the ABGs in liquid composites are insensitive to the shapes as that in the solid composites. We further prove that the decrease of the translation group symmetry is more efficient in creating the ABGs in 3D water-mercury systems.展开更多

On the basis of formalized physical knowledge about the behavior of coupled resonators, the CAD system analyses electromagnetic signal passing through a filter structure and makes decisions gradually approaching the optimal filter design through a series of changes in its geometry. From a mathematical point of view, this approach is an alternative to well-known optimization methods and is also very promising for solving the problem of finding a global extremum of an objective function. We also include the filter optimization results obtained with the CAD system for the frequency range 23 - 81 GHz, band widths up to 30% and insertion losses less than 0.5 dB.展开更多

The simulation results are obtained and shown in this paper which proves that the algorithm developed works well for most of the wireless technologies.
文摘An Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) loaded square waveguide Band-Pass Filter (BPF) is proposed in this paper. It’s simply composed by symmetrically loading periodical metal diaphragms on each wall of a square waveguide. The influences of insert sizes and loading periods on the overall BPF performances are analyzed. Experimental results agree well with those predicted. 6 GHz pass-band with insert loss less than 1 dB, 2.5 GHz stop-band and larger than 25 dB polarization isolation can be obtained. The BPF can be applied in dual-polarized waveguide-based antenna-feed systems.
文摘A rectangular waveguide band-stop filter using electromagnetic crystals (EMXT) surface as the top and bottom walls is presented in this letter. The EMXT surface has a band gap that can prevent electromagnetic wave from propagating along the waveguide. Dispersion properties of the waveguide filter are analyzed using an approximated lumped-element circuit model. A W-band prototype based on the proposed waveguide filter is designed and characterized. The experimental results show a rejection band centered at 97 GHz and a rejection level of 16 dB.

文摘The influences of the configurational disorders on phononic band gaps and on waveguide modes are investigated for the two-dimensional phononic crystals consisting of water cylinders periodically arrayed in mercury. Two types of configurational disorders, relevant to the cylinder position and cylinder size respectively, are taken into account. It is found that the phononic band gap and the guide band are sensitive to the disorders, and generally become narrower with the increasing disorders. It is also found that the waveguide side walls without disorder can significantly prevent the guide modes in the waveguide from influence by the disorders in the crystals to a large amount.

文摘We present the acoustic band gaps (ABGs) for a geometry of three-dimensional complex acoustic crystals: the NaCl-type structure. We further prove that the decrease of the translation group symmetry is more efficient in creating the ABGs in 3D water-mercury systems.
文摘The paper presents an original physical points of an intellectual CAD system designing for three-tier wide band waveguide-dielectric filters with LM modes. We also include the filter optimization results obtained with the CAD system for the frequency range 23 - 81 GHz, band widths up to 30% and insertion losses less than 0.5 dB.
文摘This paper proposes third order tunable bandwidth active Switched-Capacitor filter. The circuit consists of only op-amps and switched capacitors. The circuit is designed for circuit merit factor Q = 10. The proposed circuit implements three filter functions low pass, band pass and high pass simultaneously in single circuit. The filter circuit can be used for both narrow as well as for wide bandwidth. For various values of cut-off frequencies the behaviour of circuit is studied. The circuit works properly only for higher central frequencies, when f0 > 10 kHz.
