The purpose of this work is to determine the appropriate allocation of a single tuned passive filter “STPF” in a real distribution network at Tala city to prevent harmonic distortion caused by nonlinear loads. This design will cover the ideal filter parameter as well as the best filter position. The filter design is based on single and multi-objective functions that optimize the cost of the proposed filters, real power losses, total harmonic distortion “THD,” and individual harmonic distortion “IHD”. Upper and lower limitations for filter parameters, quality factor, voltage and harmonic distortion limits are determined using inequality constraints. This will be done under the equality constraint of power balance. The challenge of optimization is solved using two modern algorithms, jellyfish optimization technique “JFOT” and arithmetic optimization algorithm “AOA”, in which the placements of the filters and their parameters are selected. IEEE 33-bus radial system and an actual system as a part of the Egyptian network at Tala city are used for demonstrating the results obtained by the proposed techniques. The results reveal that the system’s harmonic distortion of current and voltage is reduced less than the limitations of the IEEE 519 standards. 展开更多

In industries DC motor drives are very essential due to their high performance applications such as its reliability, ease of control, low cost and simplicity. And speed control of these motors is very easy due to power electronic AC-DC converters. These power electronic converters are with prominent low power factor and higher Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). These converters operate only for short time resulting non-sinusoidal waveform. This problem of harmonic distortion can be mitigated by reshaping the non-sinusoidal waveform to pure sine wave. Different wave shaping techniques have been developed by using different filters among which one is tuned passive filter. This paper proposed power factor improvement and harmonic mitigation of AC-DC converters based on separately excited DC motor using tuned passive filter. In this context experimental model is designed and results are analyzed by power quality analyzer. 展开更多

The exponential passive filtering problem for a class of nonlinear Markov jump systems with uncertainties and time-delays is studied. The uncertain parameters are assumed unknown but norm bounded, and the nonlinearities satisfy the quadratic condition. Based on the passive filtering theory, the sufficient condition for the existence of the mode-dependent passive filter is given by analyzing the reconstructed observer system. By using the appropriate Lyapnnov-Krasovskii function and applying linear matrix inequalities, the design scheme of the passive filter is derived and described as an optimization one. The presented exponential passive filter makes the error dynamic systems exponentially stochastically stable for all the admissible uncertainties, time-delays and nonlinearities, has the better abilities of state tracking and satisfies the given passive norm index. Simulation results demonstrate the validity of the proposed approach. 展开更多

The problem of designing a passive filter for nonlinear switched singularly perturbed systems with parameter uncertainties is explored in this paper.Firstly, the multiple-time-scale phenomenon is settled effectively by introducing a singular perturbation parameter in the plant.Secondly, the interval type-2 fuzzy set theory is employed where parameter uncertainties are expressed in membership functions rather than the system matrices. It is worth noting that interval type-2 fuzzy sets of the devised filter are different from the plant, which makes the design of the filter more flexible.Thirdly, the persistent dwell-time switching rule,as a kind of time-dependent switching rules,is used to manage the switchings among nonlinear singularly perturbed subsystems, and this rule is more general than dwell-time and average dwell-time switching rules.Next, sufficient conditions are provided for guaranteeing that the filtering error system is globally uniformly exponentially stable with a passive performance.Furthermore,on the basis of the linear matrix inequalities, the explicit expression of the designed filter can be obtained. Finally,a tunnel diode electronic circuit is rendered as an example to confirm the correctness and the validity of the developed filter. 展开更多

For the performance issues of satellite transceivers suffering passive intermodulation interference,a novel and effective digital suppression algorithm is presented in this paper. In contrast to analog approaches, digital passive intermodulation(PIM) suppression approaches can be easily reconfigured and therefore are highly attractive for future satellite communication systems.A simplified model of nonlinear distortion from passive microwave devices is established in consideration of the memory effect. The multiple high-order PIM products falling into the receiving band can be described as a bilinear predictor function.A suppression algorithm based on a bilinear polynomial decorrelated adaptive filter is proposed for baseband digital signal processing. In consideration of the time-varying characteristics of passive intermodulation, this algorithm can achieve the rapidness of online interference estimation and low complexity with less consumption of resources.Numerical simulation results show that the algorithm can effectively compensate the passive intermodulation interference, and achieve a high signal-to-interference ratio gain. 展开更多
