It is the first time to report a PQS Ho:SSO laser. For the ew mode, a maximum cw output power of 3.0 W is obtMned, corresponding to a slope efficiency of 31.4%. For the PQS mode, a Cr2+ :ZnSe is used as the saturable absorber, with transmission of 88.4% at 2112nm. A maximum pulse energy of 1.29mJ is obtained, corresponding to the pulse repetition frequency of 2.42kHz. In this study, we change the distance between Cr2+ :ZnSe and the output mirror to research the pulse characteristic of the PQ, S Ho:SSO laser. The minimum pulse width of 73.5ns is obtained, corresponding to the pulse energy of O. 9 mJ and the pulse repetition frequency of 2.65 kHz.展开更多

By using the BP-SA, a compact diode-pumped passively Q-switched Nd:YVO4 laser is demonstrated. One reflecting Bragg gratings is used as the output coupler for mode selection. By inserting those BP-SA solutions in the laser cavity, the maximum single longitude mode, Q-switched output powers of 126mW at 692.5 kHz and 149mW at 630.3 kHz are achieved at the pump power of 8.0 W, corresponding to the pulse durations of 144 ns and 196 ns, respectively. Moreover, longitudinal-mode characteristics of Q-switched output laser in different optical cavity lengths based on two-kind BP-SA solution concentrations are investigated. Our results show that BP-SA could also be developed as an effective SA for the Q-switched, single longitudinal mode pulse laser.展开更多

To measure the echo reduction of a sample with this approach, the received signals are firstly focused according to the TR theory. Then, the sample is removed and the TR processing is again employed to realize the focus of the received signal. Finally, the echo reduction of the sample is evaluated with these focusing signals. Besides, to calibrate the measured echo reduction via the TR technique, a standard sample is employed to measure a constant coefficient that only depends on the measurement environment. An aluminum plate sample and a steel plate sample with the same size of 1.1 mxl.O m x0.005 m axe tested in a wave guide tank. The experimental results show that the calibrated values are well consistent with theoretical results under the free field at the measured frequency range of0.5-20 kHz. The relative errors of all the measured values are less than 10% and the values of the expanded uncertainty are less than 1.5 dB. The TR processing focuses the energy in spatial domain and temporal domain, so it can be used to measure the echo reduction of passive materials in the environments with reflections induced by boundaries and low frequency sources.展开更多

The WTe2 particles were prepared using a simple mechanical exfoliation method together with Scotch tape. By attaching bulk-like WTe2 particles, which remained on the top of the sticky surface of a small segment of the Scotch tape, to the flat side of a side-polished fiber, a saturable absorber(SA) was readily implemented. A strong saturable absorption was then readily obtained through an evanescent field interaction with the WTe2 particles. The modulation depth of the prepared SA was measured as ~2.18% at 1.03 μm. By incorporating the proposed SA into an all-fiberized ytterbium-doped fiber ring cavity, stable Qswitched pulses were readily achieved.展开更多

A novel method is proposed to generate low phase noise MMW signal, which is simply based on a commercial off-the-shelf dual-driven Li Nb O3 Mach-Zehnder modulator and a passively F-P quantum dot mode-locked laser. MMW signal with the frequency of 30 GHz, 45 GHz and 90 GHz respectively is obtained experimentally. Single-sideband phase noise of the 30 GHz and 45 GHz MMW signal is-112 d Bc/Hz and-106 d Bc/Hz at an offset of 1 k Hz, respectively. The linewidth of the 30 GHz and 45 GHz MMW signal is about from 225 Hz and 239 Hz. This is considered a very simple MMW generator with a quasi-tunable broadband and ultra-low phase noise.展开更多

In this work, the relationship between the ellipticity ranges capable of maintaining mode-locked operation against different pump power levels is investigated. An increasing pump power, in conjunction with minor adjustments to the polarization controller's quarter waveplate, results in a wider ellipticity range that can accommodate mode-locked operation. Other parameters such as noise, pulsewidth, and average output power are also observed to vary as the ellipticity changes.展开更多

The SA assembly, formed by sandwiching a thin WSSe sheet between two fiber ferrules within the erbium-doped fiber laser, is used to effectively modulate the laser cavity losses. The WSSe-based SA has a saturation intensity of ~0.006 MW∕cm^2 and a modulation depth of 7.8%, giving an optimum Q-switched laser output with a maximum repetition rate of 61.81 kHz and a minimum pulse width of 2.6 μs. The laser's highest output power of 0.45 mW and highest pulse energy of 7.31 nJ are achieved at the maximum pump power of 280.5 mW. The tunability of the cavity's output at the maximum pump power is analyzed with a C-band tunable bandpass filter, giving a broad tunable range of ~40 nm, from 1530 nm to 1570 nm. The output performance of the tunable Q-switched laser correlates well with the gain spectrum of erbium-doped fibers, with the shift in the gain profile as a result of the saturated SA.展开更多
