Ontology and metadata for online learning resource repository management based on semantic web

An ontology and metadata for online learning resource repository management is constructed. First, based on the analysis of the use-case diagram, the upper ontology is illustrated which includes resource library ontology and user ontology, and evaluated from its function and implementation; then the corresponding class diagram, resource description framework （RDF） schema and extensible markup language （XML） schema are given. Secondly, the metadata for online learning resource repository management is proposed based on the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative and the IEEE Learning Technologies Standards Committee Learning Object Metadata Working Group. Finally, the inference instance is shown, which proves the validity of ontology and metadata in online learning resource repository management.

AI-Driven Learning Management Systems:Modern Developments, Challenges and Future Trends during theAge of ChatGPT

COVID-19 pandemic restrictions limited all social activities to curtail the spread of the virus.The foremost and most prime sector among those affected were schools,colleges,and universities.The education system of entire nations had shifted to online education during this time.Many shortcomings of Learning Management Systems(LMSs)were detected to support education in an online mode that spawned the research in Artificial Intelligence(AI)based tools that are being developed by the research community to improve the effectiveness of LMSs.This paper presents a detailed survey of the different enhancements to LMSs,which are led by key advances in the area of AI to enhance the real-time and non-real-time user experience.The AI-based enhancements proposed to the LMSs start from the Application layer and Presentation layer in the form of flipped classroom models for the efficient learning environment and appropriately designed UI/UX for efficient utilization of LMS utilities and resources,including AI-based chatbots.Session layer enhancements are also required,such as AI-based online proctoring and user authentication using Biometrics.These extend to the Transport layer to support real-time and rate adaptive encrypted video transmission for user security/privacy and satisfactory working of AI-algorithms.It also needs the support of the Networking layer for IP-based geolocation features,the Virtual Private Network(VPN)feature,and the support of Software-Defined Networks(SDN)for optimum Quality of Service(QoS).Finally,in addition to these,non-real-time user experience is enhanced by other AI-based enhancements such as Plagiarism detection algorithms and Data Analytics.

Design and Implementation of an Online Course Management System

Learning abilities vary among individuals, yet schools teach them in one classroom. Managing learning abilities could be difficult. This Online Course Management System integrates learning techniques which addresses this problem. The aim of this work therefore is to develop an adaptative e-Learning Software to enable the learner answer questions or solve problems based on his/her ability. This work is motivated by the need to address deep concern and awareness toward how learners learn best. This study develops an adaptive e-learning platform where the learner is allowed to answer questions or solve problems based on his/her ability or pace. It also provides an online classroom which will run alongside the traditional classroom. The software will adopt the waterfall model. VB.NET, an Object Oriented Programming Language will be used with AJAX and JAVASCRIPT web development tools. Furthermore, this study recommends new strategies & technologies to improve safety, quality, and overall standard of learning amongst learners in educational institutions.

Comprehensive Online Management Based on Cloud Platform for Breast Cancer Patients Using Dual-Targeted Therapy with Macromolecular Monoclonal Antibodies

Objective: The purpose of the study was to explore the application effects of the cloud platform-based comprehensive online management for breast cancer patients using dual-targeted therapy with macromolecular monoclonal antibodies. Methods: 120 breast cancer patients treated by dual-targeted therapy with macromolecular monoclonal antibodies were managed by a cloud platform from March to November 2019. Comprehensive online management included consultation about drugs and side effects and frequently asked questions in the dual-targeted therapy with macromolecular monoclonal antibodies. Results: In the consultation about drugs and side effects, there were five patients with fever, neutrophil, cough, and fatigue;24 with diarrhea;25 with nausea;11 with oral mucosal inflammation;10 with rashes and dry skin;8 with insomnia;and 1 with palpitation. Moreover, 110 patients with anxiety about the missed or delayed treatment were properly handled. Conclusion: The comprehensive online management of dual-targeted therapy with macromolecular monoclonal antibodies based on the cloud platform is helpful to satisfy the at-home breast cancer patients’ needs, ensure the continuity of dual-targeted therapy with macromolecular monoclonal antibodies for breast cancer patients, prevent misinformation, alleviate patients’ negative psychological emotions, and reduce patients’ economic losses. The online cloud platform integrated management model is crucial for managing patients with breast cancer treated by dual-targeted therapy.

Preventive online and offline health management intervention in polycystic ovary syndrome

BACKGROUND Polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS) is characterized by hyperandrogenism, hyperinsulinemia, ovarian polycystic changes, and irregular ovulation, often occurring in women of childbearing age for whom it can be a cause of infertility. Hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis dysregulation is important in the pathogenesis of PCOS and the associated chronic excess of sex hormones can lead to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, diabetes, and malignancies such as endometrial cancer, and breast cancer. At present, most scholars agree that lifestyle interventions in conjunction with drug treatment can help PCOS patients achieve their goals of successful pregnancy and childbirth.AIM To investigate the clinical effect of an online and offline(O2O) preventive health management model on PCOS with kidney deficiency and phlegm dampness.METHODS A total of 82 patients with PCOS of the kidney deficiency and phlegm dampness type who were admitted to Beijing Luhe Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University from April 2019 to June 2020 were randomly divided into two groups. The treatment group was treated with oral Diane-35 for 3 mo and received preventive O2O medical health management for 6 mo(including eating and living, exercise, drug management). The control group was treated with oral Diane-35 for 3 mo and completed outpatient health education. The traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) syndrome score, acne score, hair score, sex hormone level and clinical effects were compared between the two groups before and after the intervention. RESULTS After treatment, the TCM syndrome score, acne score, and serum luteinizing hormone/follicle stimulating hormone level were significantly lower in the treatment group than in the control group(P < 0.05). After 3 mo of treatment, the TCM syndrome curative effect index in the treatment group was 97.30% compared to 54.05% in the control group(P < 0.05), whereas the total treatment effect in the treatment group was 91.89%, compared to 54.05% in the control group(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION An integrated therapeutic approach incorporating medication, TCM methods and social media is more effective than standard treatment for PCOS.

Airway management training program for nurses via online course in COVID-19 preparedness

BACKGROUND Nursing officers are an integral component of any medical team.They participate in taking care of basic airway management and assist in advanced airway management,specifically amidst the current coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic.AIM To assess the efficacy of a standardized web-based training module for nurses in preparedness to fight against COVID-19.METHODS The training was held in three sessions of 1 h each,consisting of live audio-visual lectures,case scenarios,and skill demonstrations.The sequence of airway equipment,drug preparation,airway examination,and plans of airway management was demonstrated through mannequin-based video-clips.RESULTS Pre-and post-test scores as well as objective structured clinical examination scores were analyzed using Student’s t-test and the Likert scale was used for feedback assessment.It was found that the mean score out of the total score of 20 was 8.47±4.2 in the pre-test,while in the post-test it was 17.4±1.8(P value<0.001).The participants also felt self-reliant in executing the roles of airway assistant(63.3%)and drug assistant(74.3%).Fear of self-infection with COVID-19 was also high,as 66%of participants feared working with the patient’s airway.CONCLUSION Amidst this COVID-19 emergency,when the health care systems are being persistently challenged,training of nursing staff in the safe conduct of airway management can ensure delivery of life-saving treatment.

Research about Online Security Warning and Risk Assessment of Power Grid Based on Energy Management System

In this paper, online security warning and risk assessment of power grid are proposed, based on data from EMS （Energy Management System）, combined with information of real-time operation state, component status and external operating environment. It combines the two factors, contingency likelihood and severity, that determine system reliability, into risk indices on different loads and operation modes, which provide precise evaluation of the power grid＇s security performance. According to these indices, it can know the vulnerable area of the system and whether the normal operating mode or repair mode is over-limited or not, and provide decision-making support for dispatchers. Common cause outages and equipment-aging are considered in terms of the establishment of outage model. Multiple risk indices are defined in order to reflect the risk level of the power grid more comprehensively.

Delivering forestry courses online:experiences,lessons learned,and future of forestry online education in the Asia Pacifi c

Innovation in forestry education is needed to address changing contexts of the positionality of forests.This is particularly signifi cant in the Asia–Pacifi c region,where deforestation and degradation are high.However,the accessibility of high-quality forestry education to address changing regional and global contexts is lacking.A series of innovative sustainable forest management(SFM)open education resource(OER)courses were developed and implemented to improve the accessibility of SFM education to enhance teaching quality,curriculum,and research capacity of universities in the Asia-Pacifi c Region.To evaluate the SFM-OER program in terms of student experiences,this study investigated student achievement,perceived success of the pedagogical approach and instructional design,and perceived eff ectiveness of the learning activities in promoting active and transformative learning through the assessment of a 1,191-course feedback survey between 2018 and 2020,including the global pandemic.This study revealed that the program attracted diverse student demographics,including a higher proportion of female students majoring in forestry,ecology,and other environmental studies.Their primary motivation to participate in the courses was to gain international experience,followed by the fl exibility of online learning,mandatory course requirements,and earning course credits.Students were satisfi ed with the Canvas learning management system.Most students spent less than 5 to 10 h of their weekly time in the course and agreed or strongly agreed that the workloads were manageable.Students refl ected positively on various learning activities and assignments,such as watching lecture videos,taking quizzes,reading and summarizing,having discussions,and peer review writing.However,they did not clearly prefer specifi c learning activities,signifying the importance of using diverse learning activities to satisfy diverse individual learning styles in online settings.This analysis contributes to the further development of student-centered pedagogical development for online learning and provides insight into the ways forward for online higher forestry education,while repurposing existing OER courses in a post-Covid-19 era.

Perception of Villa Manager on Using the Online Travel Agents as Marketing Media in North Kuta District, Badung, Bali, Indonesia

The development of villas in Bali is very rapid, especially in Badung regency with the distribution of the number of dominant villas in North Kuta district. Based on preliminary study, tourists tend to make reservations through online travel agents （OTA）. Therefore, there is a tendency if the villa manager in North Kuta district makes promotion through OTA. The aim of this research is to explain and analyze the dominant factors that influence the perception of villa managers in North Kuta district on using OTA as marketing media. The population in this research is composed of 191 villas. The final sample villas, using Slovin formula, were chosen based on cluster proportional sampling technique, totally 66 unit villas. Respondent in this research is the villa manager of each sample villa, so there are as much as 66 respondents. For data analysis, we used confirmatory factor analysis and descriptive statistics. In general, the perception of managers in North Kuta district on the use of OTA as marketing media is strongly agree or strongly positive with an average value of 4.37. The analysis of factors simultaneously showed that the perception of villa managers in North Kuta district on the use of OTA is determined by three factors, namely, factor in the self-perception of villa manager （F 1）, the factors in the self-perception of OTA （F2）, and situational factors （F3）.

Maintaining Power by Guarding the Gates： Journalists＇ Perceptions of Audience Participation in Online Newspapers

Focus on audience participation in online news media has increased rapidly in recent years. Online newspapers offer their audience several opportunities to participate, for example, by submitting comments on articles or uploading pictures/videos. Audience participation has also emerged as a fast growing research field： The motives for focusing on audience participation have been analyzed and the kind of participatory opportunities that news media offer the audience have been mapped. Also, questions on whether audience participation should be regarded as an advantage or disadvantage to professional journalism have been discussed. This study relates to the latter perspective as it examines media practitioners＇ perceptions of audience participation. By focusing on the case of Swedish newspaper journalists, this study analyzes how audience participation is perceived to affect journalistic work and to what extent such participation is believed to benefit journalism. Based on a representative survey of Swedish journalists, conducted in 2011-2012, and a survey of journalists working at three local morning papers in Sweden, conducted in 2009, the analyses reveal a rather ambivalence attitude to audience participation among the journalistic corps.

Ageing management strategies for instrumentation and control equipment in NPPs

This paper aims to explain main ageing stressors and effects on instrumentation and control (I&C) components followed by ageing management strategies through developed design such as using freewheeling diode to eliminate relays contact ageing due to inductive loads, or through traditional practices and new online monitoring where I&C components can be checked and assessed remotely while the plant is operating. It also includes some recommendations for obsolescence management for special I&C components like microcontrollers and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

基于LDA-DLNB网络舆情识别的应急管理智库决策研究

[目的/意义]网络舆情信息在突发事件应对中有着不容忽视的传播影响力。完善舆论引导是中国特色新型智库的重要功能之一。做好网络舆情识别是应急管理智库提高综合研判能力的关键。[方法/过程]本文从应急管理智库建设角度出发,聚焦突发事件网络舆情信息中潜在的关键热点与情感结构识别问题,通过机器学习方法构建LDA-LDNB网络舆情信息挖掘模型,并基于突发事件网络舆情文本信息进行模型验证和实证分析。[结果/结论]本文构建的模型能很好地识别突发事件中网络舆情信息的主题、情感与演化特征,为应急管理智库提高应急管理决策服务能力提供方法支持,为构建数据驱动的应急管理智库提供新的思路。

美国高校在线学习需求持续增长的战略转变——CHLOE 9报告的要点与反思

由Quality Matters、Eduventures和EDUCAUSE联合发布的2024年《美国在线教育发展全景报告》(CHLOE 9)呈现了美国在线教育的发展现状和变化趋势。报告主题包括:在线战略与优先事项、在线课程预算与定价策略、外包在线课程管理、在线学习者支持与跟踪服务、人工智能应用与教学实践、在线课程定期且实质性互动等。报告显示,面对持续增长的在线学习需求,美国高校正逐步将在线教育融入院校长期发展战略。报告内容对我国高等院校在线教育发展具有重要借鉴意义。基于对报告的分析,本文提出以下建议:在线教育要全面融入高校长期战略,有效融合在线学习和线下学习;构建以学生为中心的在线课程管理,健全多元主体参与模式;推进人工智能应用于在线教学和行政管理,提升师生人工智能素养;满足学生个性化学习需求,提升在线学习交互性,确保在线学习质量;全方位加强在线教育学生和教师支持,体现人文关怀;平衡在线课程和线下课程费用,合理制定学费政策。
