Optimization Management of Industrial Organizations Based on Performance Indicators

This paper proposes an intelligent management system (IMS) to help managers in their delicate and tedious task of exploiting the plethora of data (indicators) contained in management dashboards. This system is based on intelligent agents, ontologies and data mining. It is implemented by PASSI (Process for Agent Societies Specification and Implementation) methods for agent design and implementation, the Methodology for Knowledge Modeling and Hot-Winters for data prediction. Intelligent agents not only track indicators but also store the knowledge of managers within the company. Ontologies are used to manage the representation and presentation aspects of knowledge. Data mining makes it possible to: make the most of all available data;model the industrial process of data selection, exploration and modeling;and transform behaviors into predictive indicators. An instance of the IMS named SYGISS, currently in operation within a large brewery organization, allows us to observe very interesting results: the extraction of indicators is done in less than 5 minutes whereas manual extraction used to take 14 days;the generation of dashboards is instantaneous whereas it used to take 12 hours;the interpretation of indicators is instantaneous whereas it used to take a day;forecasts are possible and are done in less than 5 minutes whereas they did not exist with the old management. The Impact of Health Information Technology on Hospital Performance: A Systematic Integrative Literature Review

Objective: To review, categorise, and synthesise findings from literature on health information technology (HIT) functionalities, HIT use, and the impact of HIT on hospital performance. Materials and Methods: We conducted a systematic integrative literature review based on a compre-hensive database search. To organise, categorise and synthesise the ex-isting literature, we adopted the affordance actualization theory. To align the literature with our research framework, we used four categories: 1) the functionalities of HIT and how these functionalities are measured;2) use and immediate outcomes of HIT functionalities;3) different perfor-mance indicators and how HIT functionalities affect them;and 4) what hospital characteristics influence the outcome of hospital performance. Results: Fifty-two studies were included. We identified four types of HIT. Only ten studies (19.2%) define the use of HIT by explicitly meas-uring the use rate of HIT. We identified five dimensions of hospital per-formance indicators. Every dimension showed mixed results;however, in general, HIT has a positive impact on mortality and patient readmis-sions. We found several hospital characteristics that may affect the rela-tionship between HIT and hospital-level outcomes. Discussion: Further efforts should focus on embedded research on HIT functionalities, use and effects of HIT implementations with more performance indicators and adjusted for hospital characteristics. Conclusion: The proposed framework could help hospitals and researchers make decisions regard-ing the functionalities, use and effects of HIT implementation in hospi-tals. Given our research outcomes, we suggest future research opportuni-ties to improve understanding of how HIT affects hospital performance. . 展开更多

The presence of sub-standard ships has been a long-standing concern in the maritime domain and a slew of measures are implemented to tide over the problem.Measurement is a key to verifying the success of measures adopted to enhance maritime safety and protect the marine environment.While there is an abundance of literature based on Port State Control inspections it is argued that in addition to the prevailing indicators of flag State performance deeper insights are to be gained by exploring indicators in other areas such as findings of IMO member State audits.This paper proposes simple and intuitive indicators in conjunction with existing indicators to identify trends in flag State performance and explores application of the indicators to a select set of member States in Latin-America region.The paper concludes that the proposed indicators have the potential for global application. 展开更多

Strategic maintenance plays a key role in ensuring high availability and utilization of the haul trucks,and as equipment began to grow more complex towards the end of the 20th century,there was a need for a proactive maintenance strategy,which led to the development of condition-based maintenance.Realtime condition monitoring(RTCM)is the ability to perform condition monitoring in real-time and has the ability to alert maintenance and operations of abnormal conditions.These alarms can be used as an indication leading to a problem,and if a suitable corrective action is initiated in time,it could result in significant savings of equipment downtime and repair costs.This study aims to compare some maintenance performance indicators prior to and after implementation of RTCM strategy at a mine site using some tests of statistical significance.The study also indicated the presence of seasonality in the data,and thus the data was deseasonalized and detrended prior to being subjected to the statistical tests.Finally,the results indicated that RTCM strategy has proven to be successful in improving the availability for some of the failure categories chosen in this study. 展开更多

Every company wants to make a profit in the short run but doesn’t think about the long run.The environment and human resources are used by the companies but eventually,they will react in a repugnant way.The environment is being polluted every day and it is a threat to human life as well as the world.To assess the impact of activities being done by the companies,a non-governmental organization was established in Boston called Global Reporting Initiative(GRI)in 1997.GRI(Global Reporting Initiative)established a sustainability reporting framework that provides a systematic guideline for the sake of companies to disclose their performance on the environmental,economic,and social degree of sustainability.This study will find out how responsible multinational(listed and non-listed)companies(MNC)in the case of sustainability reporting when they are consistently doing business in the environment of Bangladesh.This study was analyzed based on GRI(Global Reporting Initiative)guidelines towards their reporting on sustainability.A quantitative score from 0 to 3 was given for each of 84 performance indicators(9,30,and 45 exhibitors for environmental,economic,and social dimensions respectively)of the GRI 3 guidelines based on sustainability reporting.This study reports that tidings on the economic degree are better compared to environmental and social dimensions.Much deviation is reported in environmental and social dimensions,but less deviation is reported in economic dimensions by the selected companies as the sample.Overall,the reporting practices of Nestle Bangladesh Ltd are better than other selected companies. 展开更多

Interacting The highest storage capacity of a circular tank makes it pop-ular in process industries.Because of the varying surface area of the cross-sec-tions of the tank,this two-tank level system has nonlinear characteristics.Controlling theflow rate of liquid is one of the most difficult challenges in the production process.This proposed effort is critical in preventing time delays and errors by managing thefluid level.Several scholars have explored and explored ways to reduce the problem of nonlinearity,but their techniques have not yielded better results.Different types of controllers with various techniques are implemented by the proposed system.Sliding Mode Controller(SMC)with Fractional Order PID Controller based on Intelligent Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Infer-ence System(ANFIS)is a novel technique for liquid level regulation in an inter-connected spherical tank system to avoid interferences and achieve better performance in comparison of rise time,settling time,and overshoot decrease.Evaluating the simulated results acquired by the controller yields the efficiency of the proposed system.The simulated results were produced using MATLAB 2018 and the FOMCON toolbox.Finally,the performance of the conventional controller(FOPID,PID-SMC)and proposed ANFIS based SMC-FOPID control-lers are compared and analyzed the performance indices. 展开更多

To meet the considerably increase of mobile data traffic and wireless communication connections around 2020,the 5th generation(5G)mobile network will necessarily consider more frequency bands,enabling technologies and diversified key performance indicators and test environments comparing with existing network,for example Long Term Evolution.More specifically,the obvious difference between 5G and previous wireless communication system are not only included eMBB(enhance mobile broadband) usage scenario,but also introduced mMTC(massive machine type communications)and URLLC(ultra-reliable and low latency communications) usage scenarios.Hence,in order to evaluate 5G related technologies,some novel test environments will be widely discussed,as well as,certain new key performance indicators will be drawn into5 G evaluation methodology for satisfied new requirements.We will discuss characteristic of these 4 candidate test environments,such as indoor isolated environment,high speed train environment;and the definition of 15 keys performance indicator will be explained and clarified,for example,Throughput,Network Energy Efficiency,Device Connection Density and so on.Furthermore,high-level assessment method of each test environment also will be initially considered.It is notable that an initial evaluation of indoor isolated environment also can be found,which the results show that there are 3 times average cell spectral efficiency than IMT-advanced's in same test environment. 展开更多

The sixth generation(6G)mobile network is envisaged to be commercially deployed around 2030,which will profoundly change people's lifestyles and accelerate the digitalization of society.To ensure that the requirements of 6G can be achieved,it is essential to establish a set of key performance indicators(KPIs).This paper comprehensively assesses the KPIs not only from the service requirements but also from the technical feasibility points of view.Specifically,theoretical derivations of KPIs have been clarified,and numerical evaluations have been conducted with reasonable technical assumptions.Evaluation results show that some KPIs defined from the service requirements can be improved through advanced technologies while some are still challenging for practical implementations,such as Tbps-level peak data rate and 0.1 ms user plane latency.In addition,it is also necessary to comply with multiple KPIs for some cases.Furthermore,based on the technical analysis,the potential enabling technologies are outlined and foreseeable implementation challenges as well as possible solutions are presented,which promotes a more reasonable design for 6G mobile network. 展开更多

Background: Novel player tracking technologies can change the understanding of performance determinants in team sports by allowing to accurately measuring the activity demands. The aim of this study was to identify how the defensive pressure affects the time-motion variables and the technical actions in basketball.Methods: Twenty international male players(age: 16.05 ± 2.09 years, weight: 73.13 ± 8.10 kg, height: 183.10 ± 5.88 cm) played two 10 min basketball quarters, where they used a man-to-man 1/4-court defense until the 4th min(F1/4), changed to man-to-man full court(FULL) for 3 min and, from the 7th to the 10 th min returned to 1/4-court defense(S1/4). A computerized notational analysis was performed using Simi Scout and positional data were captured with the Ubisense Real Time Location System(mean sampling rate 3.74 ± 0.45 Hz per transmitter/player).Results: The time-motion variables presented similar results between defensive conditions, showing a total distance covered around 90 m/min.However, results suggested possible vertical jump impairments in S1/4 periods. There was more distance covered while jogging in the offensive court(38.15 ± 12.17 m/min offensive court vs. 32.94 ± 10.84 m/min defensive court, p < 0.05) and more distance covered while running in the defensive court(16.41 ± 10.27 m/min offensive court vs. 19.56 ± 10.29 m/min defensive court, p < 0.05).Conclusion: These results suggest how to improve task representativeness during specific conditioning or game-based training situations and also to help coaches' strategic decisions during the games. 展开更多

Fifth Generation(5G)systems aim to improve flexibility,coexistence and diverse service in several aspects to achieve the emerging applications requirements.Windowing and filtering of the traditional multicarrier waveforms are now considered common sense when designing more flexible waveforms.This paper proposed a Universal Windowing Multi-Carrier(UWMC)waveform design platform that is flexible,providing more easily coexists with different pulse shapes,and reduces the Out of Band Emissions(OOBE),which is generated by the traditional multicarrier methods that used in the previous generations of the mobile technology.The novel proposed approach is different from other approaches that have been proposed,and it is based on applying a novel modulation approach for the Quadrature-Amplitude Modulation(64-QAM)which is considered very popular in mobile technology.This new approach is done by employing flexible pulse shaping windowing,by assigning windows to various bands.This leads to decreased side-lobes,which are going to reduce OOBE and boost the spectral efficiency by assigning them to edge subscribers only.The new subband windowing(UWMC)will also maintain comprehensively the non-orthogonality by a variety of windowing and make sure to keep window time the same for all subbands.In addition,this paper shows that the new approach made the Bit Error Rate(BER)equal to the conventional Windowed-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(W-OFDM).This platform achieved great improvement for some other Key Performance Indicators(KPI),such as the Peak to Average Power Ratio(PAPR)compared with the conventional(W-OFDM)and the conventional Universal Filtered Multicarrier(UFMC)approaches.In particular,the proposed windowing scheme outperforms previous designs in terms of the Power Spectral Density(PSD)by 58%and the(BER)by 1.5 dB and reduces the Complementary Cumulative Distribution Function Cubic Metric(CCDF-CM)by 24%. 展开更多

The mathematical model of single degree of freedom(DOF)nonlinear autonomous bearing system under constant flow supporting model is deduced.The single DOF nonlinear autonomous bearing system is transformed with the method of linear and nonlinear treatment,the mathematical expression and parameters sensitivity of relative error of stiffness and damping are presented.Finally,the main factors of magnetic-liquid double suspension bearing(MLDSB)are analyzed,and the influence on bearing performance indicators of single DOF nonlinear autonomous bearing system of main factors is revealed.The results show that linear stiffness/damping is the first part of equivalent stiffness/damping,and the second and third parts are high order minor term of Tayor series transform.The film thickness,the magnetic-liquid proportionality coefficient,the mass of rotor are the major influence factor of the bearing performance.The research can provide the theoretical reference for the design and nonlinear analysis of MLDSB. 展开更多

Objective:This research aims to develop a more scientific and reasonable performance evaluation indicator system for the implementation of an essential drug system in community health service institutions.Methods:The Delphi method was used to establish an indicator system based on three rounds of expert consultations,and the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method was used to determine the weights of the indicators.Results:The participation in the three rounds of consultations were 100%(10/10),90%(18/20),and 85%(17/20),which showed that the experts had real enthusiasm for participating in this research.The authority coefficients of the first-,second-,and third-level indicators were 0.75,0.76,and 0.76,respectively,which showed that the consultation results were dependable.The concordance coefficients of the second and third rounds were 0.489 and 0.487,respectively(P<0.001),indicating that the expert opinions were highly consistent.The performance evaluation indicator system consisted of three first-level indicators(supporting,implementation,and effect indicators),nine second-level indicators,and 21 third-level indicators.Conclusion:In this new performance evaluation indicator system,the selected experts were representative,the consultation results were dependable,the constructed evaluation indicator system was reasonable,and the setting of weights was scientific. 展开更多

This paper mainly aims at proposing an effective method of speed control of the low power motors like Permanent Magnet Direct Current (PMDC) motor used in the orthopedic surgeries using a natural optimization technique called genetic algorithm. Using this method, better values of Performance parameters like rise time, settling time, fall time, peak overshoot and steady state are achieved compared to the conventional PI controller. The SIMUINK MODEL of both the controller operation is obtained using MATLAB version R2013a. The simulated results reveal that the proposed control drive exhibits reduced peak overshoot, rise time, settling time and steady state error. An experimental setup is devised to validate the simulation results. The comparative analysis made depicts the superiority of the proposed algorithm with reference to its conventional counterpart. 展开更多

A robust deep learning model consisting of long short-term memory and fully connected neural net-works has been proposed to automatically interpret homogeneous petroleum reservoirs having infinite,no flow,and constant pressure outer boundary conditions.The pressure change data recorded during the well test operation along with its derivative is input into the model to perform the classification for identifying the reservoir model and,further,regression to estimate output parameter.Gaussian noise was added to analytical models while generating the synthetic training data.The hyperparameters were regulated to perform model optimization,resulting in a batch size of 64,Adam optimization algorithm,learning rate of 0.01,and 80:10:10 data split ratio as the best choices of hyperparameters.The perfor-mance accuracy also increased with an increase in the number of samples during training.Suitable classification and regression metrics have been used to evaluate the performance of the models.The paper also demonstrates the prediction performance of the optimized model using simulated and actual oil well pressure drawdown test cases.The proposed model achieved minimum and maximum relative errors of 0.0019 and 0.0308,respectively,in estimating output for the simulated test cases and relative error of 0.0319 for the real test case. 展开更多
