This system is based on intelligent agents, ontologies and data mining. It is implemented by PASSI (Process for Agent Societies Specification and Implementation) methods for agent design and implementation, the Methodology for Knowledge Modeling and Hot-Winters for data prediction. Intelligent agents not only track indicators but also store the knowledge of managers within the company. Ontologies are used to manage the representation and presentation aspects of knowledge. Data mining makes it possible to: make the most of all available data;model the industrial process of data selection, exploration and modeling;and transform behaviors into predictive indicators. An instance of the IMS named SYGISS, currently in operation within a large brewery organization, allows us to observe very interesting results: the extraction of indicators is done in less than 5 minutes whereas manual extraction used to take 14 days;the generation of dashboards is instantaneous whereas it used to take 12 hours;the interpretation of indicators is instantaneous whereas it used to take a day;forecasts are possible and are done in less than 5 minutes whereas they did not exist with the old management. These important contributions help to optimize the management of this organization.展开更多

One single Key Performance Indicator (KPI) is mainly employed to evaluate equipment in most studies, neither integrating the KPIs into a completed evaluation system nor considering the impact and conflict among KPIs. In this paper, a KPI evaluation architecture is presented to define and analyze KPIs, and then a common structure for KPI to obtain the KPI set of manufacturing equipment is introduced. An available multi-KPl coordination model is proposed to discern and balance the relationship among multi-KPl. Finally, a case study is introduced to illustrate the applicability of the coordination model by using multi-objective optimization strategy and an efficient solution is obtained.展开更多

Using a case study methodology and focusing on the Italian context, this exploratory study, through a qualitative approach, interviewed two main cruise terminal concessionaires and indirectly observed events planned by cruise companies in sea ports selected for outlining the role of control systems, coordination, and knowledge sharing between the players in cruise events decision-making processes. The first results show that the cruise event management processes on ship berthing and on terminal are separated. The cruise companies don't involve terminal concessionaires in the event organization considering them only service suppliers Also, the concessionaires conceive the events planned in the cruise infrastructures as a business unit to optimize the space use, without any forms of coordination or control with cruise companies. Knowledge sharing, coordination, and control among the two players could support the planning, and management of "new cruise events" in which the visitors may be led from the infrastructure to the ships stopped on the quay. This study offers a set of key performance indicators to support the management, control, and coordination of each inter-organizational relationship identified. Managerial implications and suggestions for improving cruise events management have been provided.展开更多

The world economical situation and the global container market have improved slightly after the 2008 world economical crises. Egyptian container terminals are important to serve the world liner services in particular the main east-west routes. Egypt is considered the leading country in Africa and the 18th worldwide in serving the liner markets. Alexandria container terminal as a medium size terminal shows an acceptable super/infra structure facilities and throughput. The analysis of Alexandria container terminal performance indicators from 2007 to 2011 shows a slightly progressive trend. Selected indicators, reflecting production, productivity, utilization and service measures, were used according to the available data. Terminal production shows a slight increasing demand concerning number of vessels and TEUs (Twenty Equivalent Units). Furthermore, productivity indicators proved remarkable development in moves per working hours rather than moves per hours in port, deducing lack of port services accompanying cargo handling. Moreover, Utilization measurements show the terminal occupancy ratio fluctuating from 45% to 67% with slight development. Finally, Service measures show progress in vessels turnaround time, while long wasted time consumed in processes rather than operation was observed.展开更多

Public organizations must, at the present, to consider the strategic issues that are of vitally importance to their survival. In this context, the Balanced Scorecard (BSC), due to its intrinsic characteristics, is presented as value added in attempts to link the set of objectives with the corporate strategy; determining, a priori, a course of action that must be constantly monitored. Our research analyzes the issues underlining the development of a model of performance management based on the BSC and formatted to a higher education institution (HEI). The analysis of the results confirms the viability of applying an evaluation model constructed within a specific framework. In addition, the analysis attests the importance of performance indicators in this model of evaluation, specifically those of accounting, and consequently, the added contribution they can make in the process of decision-making within HEI, particularly, in current times when the priority is to achieve more with fewer resources.展开更多

The performance assessment studies are successfully used to describe the irrigation problems and provide remedial measures. In this study, the performance assessment of the twin main canals of the Gezira Scheme were examined and evaluated using a set of performance indicators. The analysis was made using 3 Landsat and 8 Modis data of 2001-2002, and results showed that the seasonal average values of water productivity, relative water supply, overall consumed ratio, depleted fraction and relative evapotranspiration were respectively 0.47, 0.72, 1.41, 0.75 and 0.57 kg·m^-3 for Gezira main canal, whereas the values for Managil main canal were 0.43, 0.54, 1.68, 0.71 and 0.50 kg·m^-3, respectively. The monthly average values of crop water deficit for Gezira and Managil were respectively 71 and 78 mm-month^-1. Considering the spatial variation in some indicators, the irrigation uniformity is deemed as poor according to Molden and Gates (1990). The analysis also showed that the gap between water demand and supply during winter season was glaringly high (46%).展开更多

文摘Strategic maintenance plays a key role in ensuring high availability and utilization of the haul trucks, and as equipment began to grow more complex towards the end of the 20th century, there was a need for a proactive maintenance strategy, which led to the development of condition-based maintenance.Realtime condition monitoring(RTCM)is the ability to perform condition monitoring in real-time and has the ability to alert maintenance and operations of abnormal conditions. These alarms can be used as an indication leading to a problem, and if a suitable corrective action is initiated in time,it could result in significant savings of equipment downtime and repair costs. This study aims to compare some maintenance performance indicators prior to and after implementation of RTCM strategy at a mine site using some tests of statistical significance. The study also indicated the presence of seasonality in the data, and thus the data was deseasonalized and detrended prior to being subjected to the statistical tests. Finally, the results indicated that RTCM strategy has proven to be successful in improving the availability for some of the failure categories chosen in this study.
文摘Every company wants to make a profit in the short run but doesn’t think about the long run.The environment and human resources are used by the companies but eventually, they will react in a repugnant way.The environment is being polluted every day and it is a threat to human life as well as the world. To assess the impact of activities being done by the companies,a non-governmental organization was established in Boston called Global Reporting Initiative(GRI)in 1997.GRI(Global Reporting Initiative)established a sustainability reporting framework that provides a systematic guideline for the sake of companies to disclose their performance on the environmental, economic, and social degree of sustainability. This study will find out how responsible multinational(listed and non-listed)companies(MNC)in the case of sustainability reporting when they are consistently doing business in the environment of Bangladesh. This study was analyzed based on GRI(Global Reporting Initiative)guidelines towards their reporting on sustainability.A quantitative score from 0 to 3 was given for each of 84 performance indicators(9,30,and 45 exhibitors for environmental, economic, and social dimensions respectively)of the GRI 3 guidelines based on sustainability reporting. This study reports that tidings on the economic degree are better compared to environmental and social dimensions.Much deviation is reported in environmental and social dimensions, but less deviation is reported in economic dimensions by the selected companies as the sample.Overall, the reporting practices of Nestle Bangladesh Ltd are better than other selected companies.
文摘The effective and efficient management of agricultural water use is crucial to enhance agricultural production to meet the demand of a rapidly growing population. The analysis also showed that the gap between water demand and supply during winter season was glaringly high (46%).
