Putting forward in 1996, it took four years to complete the project. Neighbouring Confucius temple, Confucius mansion and Confucius forest, the Confucius Research Institute contains five parts, including the museum, library, academic hall, research institute and administrative unit. The nature of the project demands high degree of cultural connotation, representing Chinese culture, regional culture and the individual character of its local culture. To achieve this requirement, starting from the angle of city design, the designers, in the overall alignment, through artistic techniques of architectural decoration, sculpture, mural painting, interior design, garden and others, make the architecture complex appear more beautiful and close to nature, while assuring their use functions. As the architectural complex was built after the old palatial architecture in the form of nine square palaces on a square terrace, it blends the highly developed Chinese cultural connotation, distinctive spirit of the times and local characteristics in complete harmony.
