Learning programming can be a daunting task, especially for students without a programming background or non-computer science students. Most Geographic Information Science (GIS) experts and students come from a non-programming background and the development of applications has mostly been perceived to be a field for computer science students and has mostly been shunned by other non-programming students and courses. Compounded by the availability of Open-Source Data collection tools like the Open Data Kit (ODK), learning programming and android application development is often overlooked by Geo Spatial Scientists. Many studies have been done to identify a suitable application development kit to introduce application development to students in non-programming classes. MIT App inventor is a user-friendly drag-and-drop application development platform that is ideal for introducing application development to students with a non-programming background. In this paper, students doing an undergraduate honors degree in spatial sciences were introduced to the MIT App inventor for the development of a Geo-App capable of collecting spatial data that can be exported into a GIS system like Arc GIS, and QGIS after the data has been collected. The paper investigates the suitability of MIT App Inventor in the development of Geo-Spatial Applications. The application was developed for collaborative mapping of tick species for Mashonaland Central Province in Zimbabwe. The main purpose of the application developed is to act as a tool for veterinary extension workers under the Veterinary Services Department of Mashonaland Central Province allowing them to collect location information for tick monitoring. The application helps expansion workers to moreover outwardly communicate the circumstance at the tick controlling focuses such as plunge tanks by collaboratively making an outline and uploading multimedia records subsequently with an alternative of making calls straight to the veterinary call center in near real-time. 展开更多

Objective:Explore the application of mobile phone APP in the follow-up management of hospital in the information age,to build a harmonious doctor-patient relationship,improve the effective follow-up rate and promote the rehabilitation of patients.Methods:Compare and analyze the traditional telephone follow-up mode and the mode of mobile phone APP with telephone follow-ups.Results:In 2016,with telephone follow-ups only,the effective rate was 91.3%,the patient satisfaction rate was 92.6%.In 2017,besides telephone follow-ups,we used mobile phone APP,the effective follow-up rate got up to 96.2%,the satisfaction rate of patients got up to 98.1%.Conclusion:Compared with the traditional follow-up model,mobile phone APP follow-up model can improve the clinical follow-up service and the compliance of patients,help to reduce failures of follow-up.With mobile phone APP,it’s much more convenient and effective for doctors to communicate with patients,and it is better for the rehabilitation of patients with disease. 展开更多

AIM: To validate the Peek Acuity mobile phone application in pediatric populations and compare its utility, both economic and diagnostic, against conventional screening methods using a pediatric ophthalmologist examination as the gold standard.METHODS: A cohort of 393 subjects from Fernando de la Mora, Paraguay(ages 6-16 y) were enrolled in the study. Subjects were randomly assigned a starting screening modality among: Peek Acuity, a single line of tumbling E optotypes set at 20/40, and Spot Vision Screener. Once completing the first screening modality, the subjects completed the two remaining techniques. Referral criteria were established based on the most current American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus(AAPOS) recommendations: 20/40 for Peek Acuity and the tumbling E, and refractive error detection for the Spot Vision Screener. Subjects that failed to achieve the cutoff for any of the three screening techniques or subjects that passed the screening but were randomly selected to perform a comprehensive eye exam to determine the false negative rate, were evaluated by a pediatric ophthalmologist. This evaluation was considered the gold standard, and included vision assessment by a Snellen chart, strabismus evaluation, and cycloplegic refraction with dilated fundoscopy.RESULTS: We obtained 48% sensitivity, 83% specificity, 43% positive predictive value, and 86% negative predictive value for Peek Acuity's ability to refer compared to evaluation by a pediatric ophthalmologist, failing to achieve a desired sensitivity for implementation. Peek Acuity trended to overestimate the subject's visual acuity, providing a higher visual acuity that would not indicate referral for a comprehensive eye examination. However, its high specificity accurately predicted a significant number of children who did not need further evaluation. When comparing the three screening methods, no single screening modality outperformed the others. Peek Acuity represented a technology that was economically feasible compared to other screening modalities in low income settings, due to the prevalence of cell phone use.CONCLUSION: Peek Acuity represents an efficient tool that has potential for implementation in school screenings with different strategies aimed at pediatric populations due to its low cost and high specificity. An increase in sensitivity would improve detection of children with refractive errors. 展开更多

The evolution of technology in 1990s resulted in the enormous growth of smartphones and the propagation of mobile applications (App) that marked new opportunities for healthcare centers and medical education. Apps have altered health services from patient’s health monitoring to specialist’s appointments and consultations from specialized health facilities. It can be argued that a healthy society can bring forth sustainable economic development to its full potential while an unhealthy society cannot. However, a free movement of people, labour and right to residence which was built across East Africa (EA) borders enabled Tanzania and Kenya borders to have enormous interactions. Subsequently, increase the risk of highly communicable diseases such as Tuberculosis and Sexually transmitted infections in such a way that medical attention is unavoidable along the borders. Statistically, Android Operating System (OS) owns 83% of Africa’s mobile OS market. In addition, 25,794,560 internet users reported by Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) together with the 22.86 million internet users provided by Kenya Digital which is equivalent to 46% and 43% of internet penetration in year 2020, disclose the need for Android mobile application for mapping health facilities both online and offline using Google map API, which will solve residents’ need to healthcare services on the presence or shortage of internet connections;using either Swahili or English language via Smartphone devices. The App incorporates Monitoring and Evaluation (M & E) tool for tracking application usage which will ease Admin’s task to generate daily and monthly reports in Excel and Comma-Separated Values (CSV) formats. The developed system received positive feedback from EA citizens and residents in the Arusha region and Namanga border crossing where 90.2% of the system evaluation conducted between Dec 2020 and Apr 2021 agreed upon App usage. 展开更多

The high percentage of children and teenagers carrying cell phones has caused controversy on how justified having a minor carrying a communication device is. There is no doubt about the fact that parents have to be able to contact their children, however, a child with a phone and poor judgment will most probably be vulnerable to the outer world with all its’ threats and abuses. Furthermore, we have the serious health issues related to wireless devices effects on people, under those circumstances multiple solutions have been presented for a safe secure method for parents to track their children without the need of cell phones. The proposed alternatives included phones with limited privileges for children;these phones are restricted to the ability of calling specific people only and have already installed applications for tracking location. Our proposed system “kids’ tracker” includes a wearable device for the child and an Android application on the parents’ smart phone. Kids’ tracker has shown a very decent performance with many unique features compared to other existing solutions. 展开更多

生物多样性监测对研究人员即时在空中识别物种的能力要求很高。为避免人眼误鉴,且提高野外监测识别蝴蝶种类的准确性与时效性,以及解决用户在野外使用纸质书籍及资料查询的不便。本研究采用Unity 3D技术,C#作为编程语言,基于Photoshop中... 生物多样性监测对研究人员即时在空中识别物种的能力要求很高。为避免人眼误鉴,且提高野外监测识别蝴蝶种类的准确性与时效性,以及解决用户在野外使用纸质书籍及资料查询的不便。本研究采用Unity 3D技术,C#作为编程语言,基于Photoshop中的3D技术,以甘肃兴隆山国家自然保护区的蝴蝶样本为例进行建模,进而开发手机App实现野外对蝴蝶的准确鉴定。结果显示,通过软件的页面交互实现App中蝴蝶种类的识别和查询功能,点击程序进入主界面,包括兴隆山简介、兴隆山蝴蝶、兴隆山地图、兴隆山天气等应用,其中蝴蝶形态以3D技术进行展示。用户可根据需求选择相应功能。经初步测试,这款App的开发大大提高了用户使用的方便性和快捷性,为相关研究人员和保护区工作人员开展生物多样性监测工作提供了技术支撑,同时提高了野外蝴蝶识别的准确性,也为下一步使用其他语言乃至进行更大范围的蝴蝶识别App的研发奠定了基础。 展开更多

【目的】研制满足四川省气象为农服务个性化、精细化、便捷化、智能化需求的智慧农业气象服务手机App平台,为四川省现代农业精准气象服务提供技术支持。【方法】基于APICloud开发平台,使用Java、HTML5、CSS3语言,采用大数据采集分析、... 【目的】研制满足四川省气象为农服务个性化、精细化、便捷化、智能化需求的智慧农业气象服务手机App平台,为四川省现代农业精准气象服务提供技术支持。【方法】基于APICloud开发平台,使用Java、HTML5、CSS3语言,采用大数据采集分析、用户需求智慧感知,AI智能识别、服务信息智慧精准靶向推送等技术,开发四川省智慧农业气象服务手机App(“四川e农”)平台。【结果】“四川e农App”平台实现了用户需求与气象信息匹配,气象服务产品自动生成、作物病虫害智能识别、农田的个性化管理以及针对作物和养殖品种的精准气象服务。系统在四川省共有注册用户6660人,其中,新型农业经营主体有5918户,占全省新型农业经营主体的79.1%。全省21个市州已在平台完成本地化工作,田间快报照片10000余张。【结论】“四川e农App”平台集天气预报、病虫害智能识别、农情田管、农产品认证溯源、水产气象服务、专家互动、价格供求、防灾救灾等农业气象服务于一体,为新型农业经营主体、涉农专家、种养殖大户提供“一对一”智慧气象服务,已在四川省市县三级气象与农业部门得到广泛应用,能有效提升气象为农服务的智慧化水平。 展开更多

目的探讨3D打印骨骼模型联合移动APP终端在临床专业实习医师骨科带教中的应用效果。方法选择2022年1月—2022年5月滨州医学院烟台附属医院的46名骨科实习医师作为研究对象,按照学号将学生随机分为传统教学组与试验教学组,各23名。传统... 目的探讨3D打印骨骼模型联合移动APP终端在临床专业实习医师骨科带教中的应用效果。方法选择2022年1月—2022年5月滨州医学院烟台附属医院的46名骨科实习医师作为研究对象,按照学号将学生随机分为传统教学组与试验教学组,各23名。传统教学组采用传统教学法,传统教学组采用3D打印骨骼模型联合移动APP终端教学。教学结束后,分别对学生的教学满意度、理论知识考评以及技能操作考评进行评估。结果试验教学组[(88.87±3.68)分]高于传统教学组理论知识得分[(85.20±4.23)分],差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。试验教学组技能操作考评得分[(91.21±7.14)分]高于传统教学组得分[(77.34±9.85)分],差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。试验教学组的满意度为91.3%,高于传统教学组的65.22%,,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。结论3D打印骨骼模型联合移动APP终端教学模式有效地解决了传统临床教学模式存在的不足之处。该教学模式能够有效地帮助学生更快地理解和掌握骨科相关疾病的发生发展、形态学特征、治疗方法以及实际临床操作等重要内容。 展开更多
