Antiulcerogenic Effect of Brazilian Propolis Formulation in Mice

Propolis is a natural resin used around the world to treatment of several diseases. We evaluated the effect of Brazilian propolis (P1) in guinea pig isolated trachea in vitro contracted with hista-mine, in paw oedema induced by histamine in mice and anti-ulcerogenic effect of propolis formulation in mice. We used a P1 extract from South of Brazil to produce a formulation containing sodium bicarbonate and propolis dry extract (2%). In the guinea pig trachea Brazilian propolis extract (10 μg/mL) produced a non-significant inhibition in the cumulative response curve for histamine. However, the dose of 100 μg/mL shown had a significant inhibitory effect on the contraction induced by histamine (51% ± 5%). In the mouse paw oedema induced by intraplantar injection of histamine (50 μg/paw), the results showed that the treatment of the mice with P1 (10 or 100 mg/Kg (p.o) or 1 or 10 mg/Kg (i.p)), 0.5 h beforehand, significantly inhibited the paw oedema with maximal inhibition (MI) of 25% or 42% by p.o. route or 22% or 37% by i.p. route, respectively. Finally we have pre-treated mice with P1 formulation (20 mg/Kg or 40 mg/Kg, p.o, one time) or vehicle (powder) in animals submitted to diclofenac-induced ulcer, after 8 h P1 formulation inhibited of 43% or 83% of ulcers scores, respectively. Results showed that P1 formulation inhibited the ulcerogenic effect induced by diclofenac. Results suggested also, at least in part, the antiulcerogenic effect of formulation containing standardized extract of propolis can be due to the antagonistic action on the histaminergic system. 展开更多

A Comparative Assessment of the Surface Roughness of Thermoplastic Denture Base Resins Following Adjustment and Re-Polishing

Purpose: This study assessed the roughness of two injection-molded, thermoplastic materials used for denture bases compared with a polyamide material and compression molded Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) after the adjustment and re-polishing with either a laboratory protocol or a chair side protocol. Methods: Forty specimens, each of PMMA, Valplast, DuraFlex, Dura Cetal were fabricated and finished according to individual manufactures’ instructions. These materials were adjusted with tungsten carbide (TC) burs to mimic gross adjustments, and then re-polished either on a lathe or bonded silicon carbide (B-SC). Following instrumentation, the specimens were assessed using contact profilometry and scanning electron microscopy. Two-factor ANOVA was used to determine significant differences in mean surface roughness (Ra and Rmax), with included factors being material type and re-polishing regimen. Results: Mean Ra values ranged from 0.26 (DuraFlex control) to 1.82 (Valplast adjusted with TC burs). Mean Rmax values ranged from 1.88 (Dura Flex control) to 13.76 (Valplast adjusted with TC burs). Two-factor ANOVA revealed that interaction of both factors was significant (p Ra and Rmax. There was a statistically significant increase in both Ra (p Rmax (p < 0.05) for all material types following the gross adjustment. With the exception of DuraFlex, re-polishing of samples that were previously adjusted with TC burs, on the dental lathe produced surfaces that were comparable to control samples. Conclusion: Adjustment of DuraFlex should be kept to a minimum since the adjustment produced the significant surface detriment that could not be corrected with either of the polishing regimens. 展开更多

"iεepa"and"Oσia"are two core concepts in research related to religion,which also play important roles in social life.The traditional view is that the dichotomy between"iεepa"and"Oσia"is an important method of research related to religion and that the border between"iεepa"and"Oσia"is clear.However,through reassessing the relationship between"iεepa"and"Oσia"on a case study of the Parthenon inventory,this article will demonstrate that the relationship between"iεepa"and"Oσia"is not one of complete opposition,but that it is in fact a unity of opposites.This relationship is primarily reflected in the three aspects of the Parthenon inventory:invocation,treasurers system and treasures type,aspects which also highlight the Athenian propensity to blend the sacred and secular spheres.These reassessed views shed new light on polis life,especially as regards public finance. 展开更多

The utilization of eco-friendly,lightweight,high-efficiency and high-absorbing electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding composites is imperative in light of the worldwide promotion of sustainable manufacturing.In this work,magnetic poly(butyleneadipate-coterephthalate)(PBAT)microspheres were firstly synthesized via phase separation method,then PBAT composite foams with layered structure was constructed through the supercritical carbon dioxide foaming and scraping techniques.The merits of integrating ferroferric oxideloaded multi-walled carbon nanotubes(Fe3O4@MWCNTs)nanoparticles,a microcellular framework,and a highly conductive silver layer have been judiciously orchestrated within this distinctive layered configuration.Microwaves are consumed throughout the process of“absorption-reflection-reabsorption”as much as possible,which greatly declines the secondary radiation pollution.The biodegradable PBAT composite foams achieved an EMI shielding effectiveness of up to 68 dB and an absorptivity of 77%,and authenticated favorable stabilization after the tape adhesion experiment. 展开更多

Poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO)-based polymer electrolytes show the prospect in all-solid-state lithium metal batteries;however,they present limitations of low room-temperature ionic conductivity,and interfacial incompatibility with high voltage cathodes.Therefore,a salt engineering of 1,1,2,2,3,3-hexafluoropropane-1,3-disulfonimide lithium salt(LiHFDF)/LiTFSI system was developed in PEO-based electrolyte,demonstrating to effectively regulate Li ion transport and improve the interfacial stability under high voltage.We show,by manipulating the interaction between PEO matrix and TFSI^(-)-HFDF^(-),the optimized solid-state polymer electrolyte achieves maximum Li+conduction of 1.24×10^(-4)S cm^(-1)at 40℃,which is almost 3 times of the baseline.Also,the optimized polymer electrolyte demonstrates outstanding stable cycling in the LiFePO_(4)/Li and LiNi_(0.8)Mn_(0.1)Co_(0.1)O_(2)/Li(3.0-4.4 V,200 cycles)based all-solid-state lithium batteries at 40℃. 展开更多

With the rapid development of 5G information technology,thermal conductivity/dissipation problems of highly integrated electronic devices and electrical equipment are becoming prominent.In this work,“high-temperature solid-phase&diazonium salt decomposition”method is carried out to prepare benzidine-functionalized boron nitride(m-BN).Subsequently,m-BN/poly(pphenylene benzobisoxazole)nanofiber(PNF)nanocomposite paper with nacremimetic layered structures is prepared via sol–gel film transformation approach.The obtained m-BN/PNF nanocomposite paper with 50 wt%m-BN presents excellent thermal conductivity,incredible electrical insulation,outstanding mechanical properties and thermal stability,due to the construction of extensive hydrogen bonds andπ–πinteractions between m-BN and PNF,and stable nacre-mimetic layered structures.Itsλ∥andλ_(⊥)are 9.68 and 0.84 W m^(-1)K^(-1),and the volume resistivity and breakdown strength are as high as 2.3×10^(15)Ωcm and 324.2 kV mm^(-1),respectively.Besides,it also presents extremely high tensile strength of 193.6 MPa and thermal decomposition temperature of 640°C,showing a broad application prospect in high-end thermal management fields such as electronic devices and electrical equipment. 展开更多

【目的】克隆凡纳滨对虾(Litopenaeus vannamei)自噬相关基因13(ATG13),并分析凡纳滨对虾ATG13基因的组织表达特征及其在外源刺激后的表达变化,为探究ATG13基因在凡纳滨对虾抗病原感染过程中的作用机制提供理论依据。【方法】采用PCR扩... 【目的】克隆凡纳滨对虾(Litopenaeus vannamei)自噬相关基因13(ATG13),并分析凡纳滨对虾ATG13基因的组织表达特征及其在外源刺激后的表达变化,为探究ATG13基因在凡纳滨对虾抗病原感染过程中的作用机制提供理论依据。【方法】采用PCR扩增凡纳滨对虾ATG13基因,通过ProtParam、Softberry、SMART、InterProScan等在线软件进行生物信息学分析,并以实时荧光定量PCR检测凡纳滨对虾ATG13基因的组织表达特征及其在哈维氏弧菌(Vibrio harveyi)和Poly(I:C)刺激后的表达变化。【结果】凡纳滨对虾ATG13基因开放阅读框(ORF)为1431 bp,共编码476个氨基酸残基;凡纳滨对虾ATG13蛋白相对分子量为52.4 kD,理论等电点(pI)为5.40,属于疏水性蛋白,不存在信号肽,但其N末端存在1个ATG13功能域(第94~167位氨基酸处)。凡纳滨对虾ATG13氨基酸序列与果蝇(Drosophila melanogaster)ATG13氨基酸序列的相似性高达97%,基于ATG13氨基酸序列相似性构建的系统发育进化树也显示凡纳滨对虾与果蝇的亲缘关系最近。ATG13基因在凡纳滨对虾肝胰腺、肌肉、鳃、中肠、血细胞、心脏、脑和皮肤等组织中均有不同程度的表达,以肝胰腺中的相对表达量最高,其次是肌肉和中肠,在皮肤和血细胞中的相对表达量较低。经哈维氏弧菌和poly(I:C)刺激后,凡纳滨对虾ATG13基因在肝胰腺、中肠和鳃组织中的相对表达量整体上呈先上升后下降的变化趋势,且在刺激后12、24或48 h达最高值,极显著高于对照组(PBS)(P<0.01)。【结论】受哈维氏弧菌或poly(I:C)等外源刺激后,凡纳滨对虾通过上调自噬相关基因ATG13表达以调控机体清除受损的细胞器和维持细胞稳态,即ATG13基因参与凡纳滨对虾抗病原感染的响应过程。 展开更多

【目的】明确吉富罗非鱼(Oreochromis niloticus)干扰素调节因子9基因(OnIRF9)的结构特征和组织表达模式,以及无乳链球菌感染和Poly(I:C)刺激后的免疫应答情况,为揭示IRF9在罗非鱼免疫应答中的作用机制提供理论依据,进而丰富鱼类的IRF... 【目的】明确吉富罗非鱼(Oreochromis niloticus)干扰素调节因子9基因(OnIRF9)的结构特征和组织表达模式,以及无乳链球菌感染和Poly(I:C)刺激后的免疫应答情况,为揭示IRF9在罗非鱼免疫应答中的作用机制提供理论依据,进而丰富鱼类的IRF免疫学知识。【方法】通过RACE扩增OnIRF9基因cDNA序列,通过ExPASy、SMART、SignalP-5.0、TMHMM-2.0和Euk-mPLoc 2.0等在线软件进行生物信息学分析,并采用实时荧光定量PCR检测OnIRF9基因在健康吉富罗非鱼组织中的表达特征及无乳链球菌感染和Poly(I:C)刺激后的表达变化。【结果】OnIRF9基因cDNA序列全长1828 bp,包含50 bp的5'端非编码区(5'-UTR)、485 bp的3'端非编码区(3'-UTR)和1293 bp的开放阅读框(ORF),共编码430个氨基酸残基。OnIRF9蛋白分子量为48.42 kD,理论等电点(pI)为6.23,含有IRF典型的DBD结构域和IAD结构域,不含信号肽和跨膜结构域。OnIRF9氨基酸序列与其他硬骨鱼类IRF9氨基酸序列的相似性为56.2%~95.7%,其中与美妊丽鱼IRF9氨基酸序列的相似性最高(95.7%);基于IRF9氨基酸序列相似性构建的系统发育进化树也显示,吉富罗非鱼与其他参考鱼类聚为一簇,尤其与美妊丽鱼的亲缘关系最近。OnIRF9基因在健康吉富罗非鱼脑、血液、肌肉、肝脏、皮肤、心脏、脾脏、头肾、肠道和鳃组织中均有表达,以脑组织中的相对表达量最高,显著高于其他组织(P<0.05),而鳃组织中的相对表达量最低。经无乳链球菌感染和Poly(I:C)刺激后,OnIRF9基因在吉富罗非脾脏、头肾和脑组织中的相对表达量在6 h内均极显著上升(P<0.01),但其相对表达量达到峰值的时间并不一致,提示OnIRF9基因在各组织中响应免疫应答时可能具有互补协调性。【结论】OnIRF9具有IRF典型的结构域(DBD和IAD),尤其是DBD结构域的功能在脊椎动物中较保守;OnIRF9基因在中枢神经系统中发挥重要作用,且参与吉富罗非鱼抵御病原体入侵的免疫应答反应。 展开更多

横风作用对大跨径桥梁上车辆运行安全影响较大。为探究大跨径桥梁段横风特征参数与交通运行安全性间作用规律,以横风频发的黄河特大桥为试验段,分析桥梁上交通事故与横风分布规律的关系,建立横风作用下大跨径桥梁段交通运行协调性拟合... 横风作用对大跨径桥梁上车辆运行安全影响较大。为探究大跨径桥梁段横风特征参数与交通运行安全性间作用规律,以横风频发的黄河特大桥为试验段,分析桥梁上交通事故与横风分布规律的关系,建立横风作用下大跨径桥梁段交通运行协调性拟合关系模型。研究表明:各季节横风的发生具有较高离散性,横风作用是桥梁段发生侧翻的主要原因,追尾、刮擦、撞物事故直接或间接地受横风作用影响。结合车辆运行速度分布可知,春季和秋季交通运行协调性较差,且运行速度与横风分布特征一致。利用Poly非线性曲面拟合方法,建立运行速度与横风风速、风向间季节性函数关系模型,由模型拟合优度和显著性检验结果可知,该模型拟合优度R^(2)均大于0.8,拟合结果满足收敛和统计学要求。通过剔除横风季节性特征,建立横风作用下大跨径桥梁交通运行安全性一般性模型,提升了模型的适用度。 展开更多

Plastic waste puts a huge burden on the ecosystem due to the current lack of mature recycling technology.Poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET)is one of the most produced plastics in the world.Enzymatic decomposition holds the promise of recovering monomers from PET plastic,and the monomers can be used to regenerate new PET products.However,there are still limitations in the activity and thermal stability of the existing PET hydrolases.The recent study by Lu et al.introduced a novel PET hydrolase via machine learning-aided engineering.The obtained PET hydrolase showed excellent activity and thermal stability in the hydrolysis of PET and is capable of directly degrading large amounts of postconsumer PET products.This approach provides an effective method for recycling PET waste and is expected to improve the current state of plastic pollution worldwide. 展开更多

The occurrence of ultrafiltration(UF)membrane fouling frequently hampers the sustainable advancement of UF technology.Reactive self-cleaning UF membranes can effectively alleviate the problem of membrane fouling.Nevertheless,the self-cleaning process may accelerate membrane aging.Addressing these concerns,we present an innovative design concept for composite self-healing materials based on self-cleaning UF membranes.To begin,TiO_(2)nanoparticles were incorporated into the polymer molecular structure via molecular design,resulting in the synthesis of TiO_(2)/carboxyl-polyether sulfone(PES)hybrid materials.Subsequently,the nonsolvent-induced phase inversion technique was employed to prepare a novel of UF membrane.Lastly,a polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)hydrogel coating was applied to the hybrid UF membrane surface to create PVA@TiO_(2)/carboxyl-PES self-healing reactive UF membranes.By establishing a covalent bond,the TiO_(2)nanoparticles were effectively and uniformly dispersed within the UF membrane,leading to exceptional self-cleaning properties.Furthermore,the water-absorbing and swelling properties of PVA hydrogel,along with its capacity to form hydrogen bonds with water molecules,resulted in UF membranes with improved hydrophilicity and active self-healing abilities.The results demonstrated that the water contact angle of PVA@5%TiO_(2)/carboxyl-PES UF membrane was 43.1°.Following a 1-h exposure to simulated solar exposure,the water flux recovery ratio increased from 48.16%to 81.03%.Moreover,even after undergoing five cycles of 12-h simulated sunlight exposure,the UF membranes exhibited a consistent retention rate of over 97%,thus fully demonstrating their exceptional self-cleaning,antifouling,and selfhealing capabilities.We anticipate that the self-healing reactive UF membrane system will serve as a pioneering and comprehensive solution for the self-cleaning antifouling challenges encountered in UF membranes while also effectively mitigating the aging effects of reactive UF membranes. 展开更多

Meeting the demands of complex and advanced applications requires the development of high-performance hybrid materials with unique properties.However,the integration of polymeric frameworks with MgO/WO_(3) composite layers faces challenges due to the lack of understanding of the formation mechanism and the challenge of determining the impact of self-assembled architecture on anticorrosive properties.In this study,we aimed to enhance the corrosion resistance of the MgO layer produced by plasma electrolysis(PE)of AZ31 Mg alloy by incorporating WO_(3) with partially phosphorated poly(vinyl alcohol)(PPVA).Two types of porous MgO layers were produced using the PE process with an alkaline-phosphate electrolyte,one with and one without WO_(3) nanoparticles,which were subsequently immersed in an aqueous solution of PPVA.Incorporating PPVA into the WO_(3)-MgO layer resulted in hybrids being deposited in a fragmented manner,creating a“laminar reef-like structure”that sealed most of the structural defects in the layer.The PPVA-sealed WO_(3)-based coating exhibited superior corrosion resistance compared to the other samples.Computational analyses were employed to explore the mechanism underlying the formation of PPVA/WO_(3) hybrids on the MgO layer.These findings suggest that PPVA-WO_(3)-MgO hybrid coatings can potentially improve corrosion resistance in various fields. 展开更多

Dimethyl carbonate(DMC)is a crucial chemical raw material widely used in organic synthesis,lithiumion battery electrolytes,and various other fields.The current primary industrial process employs a conventional sodium methoxide basic catalyst to produce DMC through the transesterification reaction between vinyl carbonate and methanol.However,the utilization of this catalyst presents several challenges during the process,including equipment corrosion,the generation of solid waste,susceptibility to deactivation,and complexities in separation and recovery.To address these limitations,a series of alkaline poly(ionic liquid)s,i.e.[DVBPIL][PHO],[DVCPIL][PHO],and[TBVPIL][PHO],with different crosslinking degrees and structures,were synthesized through the construction of cross-linked polymeric monomers and functionalization.These poly(ionic liquid)s exhibit cross-linked structures and controllable cationic and anionic characteristics.Research was conducted to investigate the effect of the cross-linking degree and structure on the catalytic performance of transesterification in synthesizing DMC.It was discovered that the appropriate cross-linking degree and structure of the[DVCPIL][PHO]catalyst resulted in a DMC yield of up to 80.6%.Furthermore,this catalyst material exhibited good stability,maintaining its catalytic activity after repeated use five times without significant changes.The results of this study demonstrate the potential for using alkaline poly(ionic liquid)s as a highly efficient and sustainable alternative to traditional catalysts for the transesterification synthesis of DMC. 展开更多

Polymer solid-state lithium batteries(SSLB)are regarded as a promising energy storage technology to meet growing demand due to their high energy density and safety.Ion conductivity,interface stability and battery assembly process are still the main challenges to hurdle the commercialization of SSLB.As the main component of SSLB,poly(1,3-dioxolane)(PDOL)-based solid polymer electrolytes polymerized in-situ are becoming a promising candidate solid elec-trolyte,for their high ion conductivity at room temperature,good battery elec-trochemical performances,and simple assembly process.This review analyzes opportunities and challenges of PDOL electrolytes toward practical application for polymer SSLB.The focuses include exploring the polymerization mechanism of DOL,the performance of PDOL composite electrolytes,and the application of PDOL.Furthermore,we provide a perspective on future research directions that need to be emphasized for commercialization of PDOL-based electrolytes in SSLB.The exploration of these schemes facilitates a comprehensive and profound understanding of PDOL-based polymer electrolyte and provides new research ideas to boost them toward practical application in solid-state batteries. 展开更多
