In many regions,international power system interconnections provide economic,energy-security,environmental,and technical benefits.In contrast,such interconnections remain scarce in Northeast Asia.In 2016,after approvi...In many regions,international power system interconnections provide economic,energy-security,environmental,and technical benefits.In contrast,such interconnections remain scarce in Northeast Asia.In 2016,after approving a joint memorandum of understanding between major electric power companies from China,Japan,South Korea,and Russia,related initiatives regained momentum in the region.Nevertheless,the corresponding developments in Japan remain limited,mainly owing to the lack of involvement of Japanese electric power companies.This study represents a pioneering attempt to provide an economic assessment based on power exchange prices of a power system interconnection between Japan and South Korea regarding the competitiveness of electric power companies in terms of competitive business segments and strategic consequences.We found that although the position of Japanese generators may slightly deteriorate,that of the supply segment would substantially improve,thus suggesting that more opportunities than threats are derived from the interconnection.This promising outcome may foster the adoption of an interconnection with South Korea considering the positive economic and business perspectives in Japan.Furthermore,realizing the interconnection may improve the energy security and air quality in the region.展开更多

Based on regulated and transparent power transactions, SGCC actively enhanced service quality, strived for optimal allocation of electricity in a wider scope. Meanwhile, great achievements have been made in energy-conservation and emission-reduction. This paper briefly introduces three-tier power market construction with market transaction data in 2007, then summarizes and analyzes the characteristics of power trading. The concept of unit-heat-exchange-area(UHEA) net power, embodying the cost/performance ratio of an ORC system, was proposed as a new indicator to judge the suitability of ORC working fluids on a given condition. The heat exchange area was computed by an improved evaporator model without fixing the minimum temperature difference between working fluid and hot fluid, and the flow pattern transition during heat exchange was also taken into account. The maximum UHEA net powers obtained show that dry organic fluids are more suitable for ORCs than wet organic fluids to recover low-temperature heat. The organic fluid 1-butene is recommended if the inlet temperature of hot fluid is 353.15-363.15 K or443.15-453.15 K, heptane is more suitable at 373.15-423.15 K, and R245 ca is a good option at 483.15-503.15 K.展开更多

This paper presents one kind of power-exchanging transaction model among price-varied power plants, which will be beneficial to price-varied power plants without any loss of profits of them and guarantee state-owned assets profits in minimum loss with no promotion of average price limit by power plants. Under ideal conditions, the computation results showed the sufficiency and necessity of power-exchanging transaction and maximum similarity with the requirements of optimized resources disposition in economics. The appropriate power components are discussed depending on the representation of voltages and currents. Special attention is paid to the instantaneous power peculiarities for diverse loads and non-sinusoidal conditions. A case study of power calculations in an electric circuit with a pluggable capacitor is presented. For these types of transient modes, the instantaneous power is represented in the form of active and reactive components. However, at the systematic level, the comprehensive utilization of different energy resources in an energy system has become an issue of concern. In this work, a systematic approach is proposed, one that successively integrates heat, work and adjusts operation parameters. A detailed procedure for building a heat-work coupling transfer network is provided. The synthesis mainly consists of constructing a work exchange sub-network with pinch analysis based on positive displacement type work exchangers. Simultaneously, another kind of sub-network based on turbine-type work exchangers is built as a schematic comparison. The influence of applying a positive displacement work exchanger on the system is investigated. Finally, as a case study, a renovation design of a typical rectisol process in the coal-water slurry gasification section of an ammonia plant is presented. The results show that the added work exchanger has little impact on the existing heat exchange sub-network. Moreover,extra pressure energy is recovered by coupling the transfer network. It is concluded that the heat-work systematic design is a promising and powerful method to use energy more efficiently.展开更多

Power spectrum density (PSD) analysis was applied to obtai...The CFD-DEM model was developed to simulate solid exchange behavior between two half beds in a bench-scale two-dimensional dual-leg fluidized bed (DL-FB). Power spectrum density (PSD) analysis was applied to obtain the dominant frequency (F) of the simulated differential particle number (APLR) between the two half beds. Effects of fluidization velocity (u) and bed material inventory (H) on the solid exchange behavior were studied using the CFD-DEM model. Not only snapshots of the simulated particle flow patterns using the OpenGL code but also the dominant frequency of APLR was similar to the experimental results. The simulation results show that higher fluidization velocity assists the exchange of more particles between the two half beds, but the dispersion of clusters on the bed surface into single particles decreases the cluster exchange frequency. A greater bed material inventory results in more intense cluster exchange. The cluster exchange frequency decreases with an increase of the bed material inventory.展开更多
