Our results showed that OPN and αvβ3 protein were expressed in the placenta from normal pregnant woman and those with preeclampsia. OPN was located in the placental syncytiotrophoblasts and the cytoplasm of capillary endothelial cells and integrin αvβ3 was mainly expressed on the surface of trophoblast cells. Expression of OPN and integrin αvβ3 in the placental tissue from preeclampsia subjects was significantly lower than that from the control group (P〈0.05). Compared with the control group, expression of OPN in the placental tissue from preeclampsia group was significantly lower (P〈0.05) but there was no significant difference in the expression of αv and β3 between the preeclampsia group and the controls. It is concluded that OPN and its receptor integrin αvβ3 may be involved in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia.展开更多

Abnormal GLUT-1 and GLUT-3 placental expression could play a role in such late pregnancy complications development as preeclampsia and intrauterine growth retardation. Materials and Methods: Immunohistochemistry was performed to reveal patterns of GLUT-1 and GLUT-3 expression in the placental terminal villi compartments. Results: GLUT-1 syncytial expression in the terminal villi of severe PE cases (both with and without IUGR) was significantly lower in compare to control group. We also report about GLUT-3 both syncytial and endothelial expression in the near term and term placental terminal villi without significant difference between the study and control groups. Conclusion: other study should be performed to establish the nature of GLUT-1 downregulation in severe preeclampsia cases and whether GLUT-3 is expressed in the syncytiotrophoblast of near term and term placentas or not.展开更多

Methods: 15 term pregnant patients with preeclampsia and 15 normal pregnant women were enrolled. Clinical characteristics and placental tissue were collected. Placental COMT expression was determined by quantitative real-time PCR technique and immunohistochemistry. Results: The level of COMT mRNA in placentas from the preeclampsia group was significantly decreased than that in the normal pregnant women (0.00179 ± 0.00051 vs. 0.00289 ± 0.00066, t = 5.145, P 0.001). Adjusted by age and body mass index (BMI), the COMT expression was negatively correlated with serum uric acid (r = ?0.660, P r = ?0.717, P r = ?0.619, P < 0.001). Conclusion: The decreased expression of COMT in placentas from term preeclamptic patients and the significant relation between COMT and severity index of preeclampsia suggest that COMT may play a role in the pathogenesis of term preeclampsia.展开更多

RhoA was found in syncytiotrophoblasts and cytotrophoblasts. The mean density of RhoA protein in placental tissues of mild and severe preeclampsia groups was significantly higher than that in normal pregnancy. The expression level of RhoA mRNA in mild and severe preeclampsia groups was significantly higher than that of normal pregnancy. Increased expression of RhoA in placental tissues might play an important role in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia.展开更多

We report the case of a 19-year-old patient who consulted for abdominopelvic pain associated with heavy vaginal bleeding on 19SA in a context of arterial hypertension. The symptomatology suddenly worsened with the onset of hemorrhagic shock, which prompted an emergency hysterotomy. The diagnosis of placenta abruptio grade III b of SHER was evoked. Uterine atony was objectified intraoperatively and uterine compression by the B-Lynch technique was performed. The evolution of the patient was favorable after a stay of 5 days in intensive care.展开更多
