Purpose:To investigate the intervention effiects of using traditional Chinese Guqin music and Chinese Calligraphy handwriting(CCH)for patients with Primary Insomnia. Methods:A total of ninety patients were assigned to control group,Guqin group, and calligraphy group for 8 weeks. For 5 days a week, patients’heart rate variability(HRV)and frontal midline(FZ)electroencephalographic signals were recorded in a clinic during interventional period while either listening to Guqin music or writing calligraphy.Patients in the control group remained in rest condition. Results:For the Guqin group, the higher low-frequency-range HRV of coherence was found with marginal significance(P=0.055),and heart rate was significantly reduced(P<0.05)during Hie 4^th week in listening to Guqin music compared to the prerest period. For listening to Guqin music or calligraphy intervention,FZδ,FZθ,and FZα waves in the 8^th week compared to the 0^th week(Pre Intervention)showed a significantly enhanced effect(.P<0.05).Between the three groups, for heart rate and FZδ and FZθ waves, calligraphy group showed significantly increased heart rate than the Guqin group(P<0.001)and the control group(P=0.004);increased FZδ wave than die Guqin group(P<0.001)and the control group(P<0.001);and increased FZθ wave than the Guqin group(P=0.024)and the control group(P=0.008)respectively.Conclusion:Positive intervention effects on 11RV coherence of Guqin music;FZδ,FZθ,and FZα waves of Guqin music and calligraphy proved that Guqin music together with calligraphy training helping to promote physical and mental health, thereby it contributes to the clinical application of TCM Psychology for patients with insomnia syndrome. 展开更多

Objective:To assess efficacy of Chinese medicine(CM)on insomnia considering characteristics of treatment based on syndrome differentiation. Methods:A total of 116 participants aged 18 to 65 years with moderate and severe primary insomnia were randomized to the placebo(n=20)or the CM group(n=96)for a 4-week treatment and a 4-week follow-up.Three CM clinicians independently prescribed treatments for each patient based on syndromes differentiation. The primary outcome was change in total sleep time(TST)from baseline.Secondary endpoints included sleep onset latency(SOL),wake time after sleep onset(WASO),sleep efficiency,Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)and CM symptoms. Results:The CM group had an average 0.6 h more(95%confidence interval(CI):0.3–0.9,P<0.001)TST and 34.1%(10.3%–58.0%,P=0.005)more patients beyond 0.5 h TST increment than that of the placebo group.PSQI was changed–3.3(–3.8 to–2.7)in the CM group,a–2.0(–3.2 to–0.8,P<0.001)difference from the placebo group. The CM symptom score in the CM group decreased–2.0(–3.3 to–0.7,P=0.003)more than the placebo group.SOL and WASO changes were not significantly different between groups. The analysis of prescriptions by these clinicians revealed blood deficiency and Liver stagnation as the most common syndromes.Prescriptions for these clinicians displayed relative stability, while the herbs varied. All adverse events were mild and were not related to study treatment. Conclusions:CM treatment based on syndrome differentiation can increase TST and improve sleep quality of primary insomnia. It is effective and safe for primary insomnia. In future studies, the long-term efficacy validation and the exploratory of eutherapeutic clinicians'fixed herb formulas should be addressed.(Registration No.NCT01613183). 展开更多

Objective:To explore and analyze the clinical efficacy of Chinese medicine combined with acupuncture and moxibustion in the treatment of insomnia.Method:80 patients with primary insomnia were selected as the study sample, with 20 cases randomly selected as the control group and the rest as the observation group. The control group was treated with ordinary western medicine, while the observation group patients were treated with traditional Chinese medicine combined with acupuncture and moxibustion based on this syndrome differentiation. The comparison items were treatment effect, sleep quality, mental health, quality of life, specific sleep indicators, cerebral blood flow and neurotransmitters.Result:The treatment effectiveness showed that the observation group had a higher treatment effectiveness rate than the control group(P<0.05);The results of sleep quality showed that after treatment, the scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group in seven dimensions:sleep quality, sleep time, sleep onset time, sleep efficiency, sleep disorders, hypnotic drugs, and daytime dysfunc‐tion score(P<0.05);The quality of life results showed that after treatment, the observa‐tion group had higher scores than the control group in eight dimensions:physiological function, physiological function, physical pain, health status, energy, social function, emotional function, and mental health(P<0.05);The results of slow wave sleep time and fast eye movement sleep time showed that after treatment, the HAMA and HAMD scores of the physiological mechanism in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05);The results of cerebral blood flow and neurotransmitter indica‐tors show that after treatment,glutamateγ-The peak systolic blood flow velocity of ami‐nobutyric acid, vertebral artery, and basilar artery in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The clinical treatment of Chinese medicine combined with acupuncture and moxibustion in the treatment of insomnia patients can significantly improve the clinical treatment effect, and improve the cerebral hemorrhage and neurotransmitter status of patients, promote the improvement of their physical and mental status, can more significantly improve the quality of sleep, reduce sleep difficulties, reduce the dosage of sleeping pills, which has important clinical application value. 展开更多

Objective By sorting and analyzing pertinent modern studies targeting auricular point therapy treating primary insomnia(PI),to summarize the point selection rules and clinical efficacy of using auricular points alone or combining it with other therapies in treating PI.Methods A search on China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),Wanfang Academic Journal Full-text Database(Wanfang),Chongqing VIP Database(CQVIP),PubMed,Springer and Ovid were conducted from January 1,1998 till January 31,2020.Point selection, diagnostic criteria and Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI)in the eligible studies were analyzed and summarized. Results The difference in PSQI before and after using auricular point therapy alone was more significant than that of using Chinese medication alone(P<0.05),but less significant than that of combining auricular point therapy and acupuncture-moxibustion and Chinese therapeutic massage(tuina)(P<0.05).In the included studies,Shenmen(TF_(4))was the most commonly used(370 times),followed by Heart(CO_(15)),which was 344 times, and Subcortex(AT_(4)),which was 325 times. In terms of auricular points distribution, points in the auricular concha were the most commonly used(1500 times),followed by those in the antitragus(474 times)and triangular fossa(387 times).Correlation analysis showed that Shenmen(TF_(4))and Liver(CO_(12)),Sympathetic(AH6a)and Heart(CO_(15))were used together more often, followed by Shenmen(TF_(4)),Liver(CO_(12)),Spleen(CO_(13)),Kidney(CO_(10))and Subcortex(AT_(4)),and then Shenmen(TF_(4)),Liver(CO_(12)),Sympathetic(AH6a),Subcortex(AT_(4))and Heart(CO_(15)).Cluster analysis showed that the auricular points used for PI can be divided into 6 clusters in 2 major groups. One group was Heart(CO_(15)),Subcortex(AT_(4)),Shenmen(TF_(4)),Sympathetic(AH6a),Spleen(CO_(13)),Kidney(CO_(10)),Liver(CO_(12))and Endocrine(CO_(18));the other was Occiput(AT3),Stomach(CO_(4)),Pancrease-gallbladder(CO_(11)),Chuiqian(LO_(4)),Small Intestine(CO_(6)),Central Rim(AT_(2,3,4i))and Sanjiao(CO_(17)).In terms of patterns in traditional Chinese medicine, the pattern of dual deficiency of heart and spleen accounted for the largest proportion in the studies of using auricular points alone or combining it with other treatments to treatment PI,and then it was the pattern of liver depression transforming into fire. Conclusion In treatment of PI with auricular points alone or combo therapy involving auricular points,Shenmen(TF_(4))was commonly used, and the commonly used point group consisted of Shenmen(TF_(4)),Liver(CO_(12)),Sympathetic(AH_(6a))and Heart(CO_(15)).Auricular point therapy can be taken as a complementary therapy in treating PI. 展开更多
