The reasons of introducing cold air into pulverizer are analyzed for boilers with large capacity and high parameters. The temperature rises of the exhaust gas are calculated when varying the amount of the cold air. The hot primary air heater, a new technology, is developed to eliminate the cold air from the pulverized coal system. The applications, advantages and disadvantages are introduced in detail for the new device and system. It is concluded that introducing cold air into pulverizer is one of the major factors that causes the exhaust gas temperature of boilers with large capacity to be high. The amount of the cold air could be reduced signif icantly, even to zero in some cases by adopting the hot primary air heater, which drops the exhaust gas temperature of the boiler effectively. The hot primary air heater, which could play part roles of the steam-air heater or the hot air recirculation system, could also be used to adjust the exhaust gas temperature within the range of 20 ℃ by controlling the flow rate of the cooling medium. Moreover, the startup period of the steam-air heater or the hot air recirculation system will be shortened, which is a unique advantage of the hot primary air heater among the measures to drop the exhaust gas temperature. 展开更多

The gas-particle flow in the primary air pipe (PAP) of a low NOx swirl burner was investigated using the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) coupled with the discrete element method (DEM). The mathematical models were validated using the measured values obtained at the outlet of the primary pipe through a phase Doppler anemometer (PDA) system. Particles of different Stokes numbers in the primary air pipe (PAP) were investigated, and the effects of the structure of the primary air pipe and the particle-particle interaction on particle dispersion were analyzed. The results indicate that particles under the combined effects of the Venturi pipe and the spindle body are concentrated into a narrow band area and that the PAP structure can more efficiently concentrate particles with large Stokes numbers. The formed fuel rich/lean jet persists for a long distance out of the burner, thereby favoring of air-staged combustion and NOx reduction. The particle collision frequency and its fluctuation range increase as the particle Stokes number increases. The collisions among particles result in an increase of the spanwise dispersion of particles. Experimental results indicate that the models that take particle-particle collision into consideration are more able to predict particle concentration. 展开更多

The main technologies for reducing flue gas heat loss of pulverized coal-fired boilers are introduced, and the suitability of these technologies for boiler operation and the principles for selection of these technologies are explored. The main conclusions are: 1) the non-equilibrium control over flue gas flow rates at the inlet of the air heater and the reversal rotation of the air heater rotator should be popularized as regular technologies in large boilers; 2) increasing the area of the air heater to reduce the flue gas heat loss in pulverized coal-fired boilers should be the top option and increasing the area of the economizer be the next choice; 3) low- pressure economizer technology could save energy under special conditions and should be compared with the technology of increasing economizer area in terms of technical economics when the latter is feasible; 4) the hot primary air heater is only suitable to the pnlvefizing system with a large amount of cold air mixed. 展开更多

An observational study on trace gases and PM2.5 was conducted at three sites in and around Beijing, during the Olympic season from 2007 to 2009. Air quality improved significantly during the Olympic Games due to the special emission control measures. However, concentrations of the primary pollutants and PM were found to have risen significantly after the Games. Although the major O3 precursors (NOx and VOCs) were well controlled during the Olympic season, O3 was still found to be the highest in 2008, based on the data of ground-based observation. All this information suggests that while control of regional emissions for the Beijing Olympic Games did improved the air quality in Beijing, more efforts will be needed for the continuous improvement of regional air quality, especially for significant reductions of O3 and fine particulate pollution, and not only in Beijing, but also in the B eijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. 展开更多

Reverse-swirl(RS)burner which has been industrialized couples reverses jet and swirl flow for the stabilization of flame.Using Dantec multichannel constant-temperature anemometer, experiments on airflow characteristics were implemented on a 1:2 scaled burner model with different values in terms of reverse primary air(RPA)ratio and swirl inner secondary air(SISA)ratio. It was found that the shape of annular coupled recirculation zone(ACRZ)had stayed symmetrical all the time. The RPA ratio was the main factor that had an impact on the values of axial and RMS velocity as well as the radial velocity direction of ACRZ.Both RPA ratio and SISA ratio had a great impact on the area of ACRZ,relative reverse flow rate, mixing between SISA and outer secondary air(OSA)as well as swirling ability of the airflow. The area of ACRZ reached its peak when the RPA ratio was 11.92%or SISA ratio was 17.03%;however,when the RPA ratio and SISA ratio reached 14.86%and 28.41%respectively,the combination of RPA and SISA became relatively favorable;besides,ACRZ area, relative reverse flow and swirling ability became suitable and the mixing between SISA and OSA was relatively delayed. The research was of great practical and theoretical importance to the design and operation of RS burner. 展开更多

A triple swirler combustor is considered to be a promising solution for future high temperature rise combustors. The present paper aims to study dilution holes including primary dilution holes and secondary dilution holes on the performance of a triple swirler combustor. Experimental investigations are conducted at different inlet airflow velocities(40–70 m/s) and combustor overall fuel–air ratio with fixed inlet airflow temperature(473 K) and atmospheric pressure. The experimental results show that the ignition is very difficult with specific performance of high ignition fuel–air ratio when the primary dilution holes are located 0.6H(where H is the liner dome height)downstream the dome, while the other four cases have almost the same ignition performance. The position of primary dilution holes has an effect on lean blowout stability and has a large influence on combustion efficiency. The combustion efficiency is the highest when the primary dilution holes are placed 0.9H downstream the dome among the five different locations. For the secondary dilution holes, the pattern factor of Design A is better than that of Design B. 展开更多
