A new type of ultra-wideband (UWB) printed monopole antennas is presented, which is composed of a circular or armular patch and a trapeziform ground plane with a tapered CPW feeder in the middle. Both simulated and experimental results are presented, showing good agreement and therefore verifying validity of the design. The proposed antenna with a circular monopole patch achieves an 11.6: 1 measured ratio bandwidth of VSWR ≤2 ( from 0,79 GHz to 9.16 GHz), while that with an annular patch obtains a measured ratio impedance bandwidth of 10.6:1 (from 0.87 GHz to 9.47 GHz). In addition, these designs exhibit nearly omnidirectional radiation patterns with simple compact structures, which axe attractive in communications and others UWB applications. 展开更多

Anovel compact E shape High Impedance Surface(HIS) Electromagnetic Band-Gap(EBG) comprising Amended Minkowski Fractal Boundary(AMFB),Added Metal Strips(AMS),and metal plated via printed on a Rogers TMM 10i substrate is presented.The first order AMFB and ABS are introduced for equivalent capacitance enhancement and miniaturization with effective space-filling characteristics.The dimension of lattice size is only The proposed structure exhibits a most compact characteristic about 35% size reduction as compared with conven-tional mushroom-like HIS-EBG,and better surface-wave decoupling of around 9 dB at the operating frequency band.Details of design parameters which affect the whole performance of certain band-gap are intensively investigated.A constructed prototype is potential candidate for antenna system per-formance enhancement. 展开更多

In theory, Log-Periodic Antenna (LPA) is a linearly polarized antenna with frequency independent properties on the input impedance and gain patterns. Owing to these characteristics, LPA has gained research interests and been employed for many wideband applications. A Printed Log-Periodic Dipole Antenna (PLPDA) with multiple notched bands is proposed for Ultra-WideBand (UWB) applications. An antenna with the notched frequencies of 1.03 GHz, 1.28 GHz, 1.72 GHz, 2.24 GHz and 2.51 GHz is designed, fabricated, and measured. An antenna model was established on the substrate of FR4 and feed by a stripline. The simulation results show that the antenna can achieve an impendence wide bandwidth from 0.89 to 2.58 GHz with return loss less than -10 dB and exhibit stable antenna gain. Furthermore, the measurement result is better consistent with simulation result. 展开更多

Wireless communication industry is in rapid growth in the last years. Due to the huge progress in development of communication systems in the last decade development of wideband communication systems is continuous growth. However, development of wideband efficient antennas is one of the major challenges in development of wideband wireless communication systems. Low cost compact antennas are crucial in the development of communication systems. Printed notch antennas and miniaturization techniques are employed to develop efficient compact notch antennas. Fractal technology is used to improve the electrical performance and efficiency of notch antennas. Design tradeoffs, computed and measured results of wideband notch antennas with high efficiency are presented in this paper. All antennas are analyzed by using 3D full-wave software. The paper presents new compact Ultra-Wideband notch antenna 1 GHz to 6 GHz, a wideband notch antenna 2.1 GHz to 7.8 GHz and a 5.8 GHz to 18 GHz fractal notch antenna. 展开更多

The antennas radiation characteristics on human body have been measured by using a phantom. The phantom electrical characteristics represent the human body electrical characteristics. The phantom has a cylindrical shape with a 40 cm diameter and a length of 1.5 m. The phantom electrical characteristics are similar to the human body electrical characteristics. The antenna under test was placed on the phantom during the measurements of the antennas radiation characteristics. The phantom was employed to compare the electrical performance of several new wearable antennas. The phantom was also employed to measure the electrical performance of several antenna belts in vicinity of human body. The results of antenna with thinner belt are better than the results of the same antenna array with thicker belt. 展开更多

A log-periodic antenna can provide directivity and gain when operating in a wide band.The log-periodic antenna is used in many applications where wide bandwidth is required along with direct and medium gain.This research implements a sequential approach to the design and simulation of the performance of a printed log-periodic dipole antenna(LPDA)capable of operating in the 1800 MHz frequency range.The advantage of this antenna is the compactness and easy integration into planar circuits suitable for applications requiring wide bandwidth and high gain.The dimension of the designed antenna was originally calculated taking high frequency as 1885 MHz and low frequency as 1805 MHz,then modeled using HFSS-13 electromagnetic simulation to determine the effect of substrate dielectric properties on dipole width and length for element optimization.The design was verified by creating and measuring S11 and radiation diagrams.The designed antenna has a total gain of 7.9 dB and a wide bandwidth. 展开更多

A simple and compact ultra wideband (UWB) printed monopole antenna with band-notched performance is proposed in this paper. The antenna is partially grounded so that the Q value is depressed and the impedance bandwidth is broadened. A small strip bar is loaded on each arm of the similar U-shaped radiator. The impedance bandwidth of the antenna overlap with IEEE 802.11a is rejected consequently. The geometry parameters of the antenna are investigated and optimized with HFSS. The measured bandwidth of the proposed antenna occupies about 7.89 GHz covering from 3.05 GHz to 10.94 GHz with expected notched band from 4.96 GHz to 5.98 GHz. A quasi-omnidirectional and quasi-symmetrical radiation pattern in the whole band is also obtained. As a result, a UWB wireless communication system can be simplified with the band-notched UWB antenna presented. 展开更多

Abstract A compact frequency notched microstrip slot antenna for ultra-wideband (UWB)/2.4 GHz-band wireless local area network(WLAN) applications is proposed. The antenna is similar to a conventional microstrip slot antenna; however, by introducing a cross wide slot and a meandered-slotted stub, both compact size and frequency notched function can be achieved. It has been studied both numerically and experimentally for its impedance bandwidth, surface current distribution, radiation patterns, and gain. As will be seen, an operation bandwidth of over 4.6:1 ranging fi'om 2.39 to 11.25 GHz for return loss lower than -10 dB having a frequency notched band ranging from 4.75 to 5.85 GHz has been achieved, and good radiation performance over the entire frequency range has also been achieved. 展开更多
