Oscillation detection has been a hot research topic in industries due to the high incidence of oscillation loops and their negative impact on plant profitability.Although numerous automatic detection techniques have been proposed,most of them can only address part of the practical difficulties.An oscillation is heuristically defined as a visually apparent periodic variation.However,manual visual inspection is labor-intensive and prone to missed detection.Convolutional neural networks(CNNs),inspired by animal visual systems,have been raised with powerful feature extraction capabilities.In this work,an exploration of the typical CNN models for visual oscillation detection is performed.Specifically,we tested MobileNet-V1,ShuffleNet-V2,Efficient Net-B0,and GhostNet models,and found that such a visual framework is well-suited for oscillation detection.The feasibility and validity of this framework are verified utilizing extensive numerical and industrial cases.Compared with state-of-theart oscillation detectors,the suggested framework is more straightforward and more robust to noise and mean-nonstationarity.In addition,this framework generalizes well and is capable of handling features that are not present in the training data,such as multiple oscillations and outliers. 展开更多

The modified BFGS algorithm for the adaptive learning of back propagation (BP) neural networks is developed and embedded into NeurOn-Line by introducing a new search method of learning rate to the full memory BFGS algorithm. Simulation results show that the adaptive learning and prediction neural network system can quicklv track the time-varving and nonlinear behavior of the bioreactor. 展开更多

Expert control strategy using neural networks for electrolytic zinc process

The most important parameters which control the electrolytic process are the concentrations of zinc and sulfuric acid in the electrolyte. An expert control strategy for determining and tracking the optimal concentrations was proposed, which uses neural networks, rule models and a single loop control scheme. First, the process was described and the strategy that features an expert controller and three single loop controllers was explained. Next, neural networks and rule models were constructed based on statistical data and empirical knowledge on the process. Then, the expert controller for determining the optimal concentrations was designed through a combination of the neural networks and rule models. The three single loop controllers used the PI algorithm to track the optimal concentrations. Finally, the implementation of the proposed strategy were presented. The run results show that the strategy provides not only high purity metallic zinc, but also significant economic benefits. 展开更多

Chromatism classification and edge detection are two difficult problems in glass steel surface quality inspection. Two artificial neural networks were made and the two problems were solved. The one solved chromatism classification. Hue, saturation and their probability of three colors, whose appearing probabilities were maximum in color histogram, were selected as input parameters, and the number of output node could be adjusted with the change of requirement. The other solved edge detection. In this neutral network, edge detection of gray scale image was able to be tested with trained neural networks for a binary image. It prevent the difficulty that the number of needed training samples was too large if gray scale images were directly regarded as training samples. This system is able to be applied to not only glass steel fault inspection but also other product online quality inspection and classification. 展开更多

Based on the experimental data of Ti40 alloy obtained from Gleeble-1500 thermal simulator,an artificial neural network model of high temperature flow stress as a function of strain,strain rate and temperature was established.In the network model,the input parameters of the model are strain,logarithm strain rate and temperature while flow stress is the output parameter.Multilayer perceptron(MLP) architecture with back-propagation algorithm is utilized.The present study achieves a good performance of the artificial neural network(ANN) model,and the predicted results are in agreement with experimental values.A processing map of Ti40 alloy is obtained with the flow stress predicted by the trained neural network model.The processing map developed by ANN model can efficiently track dynamic recrystallization and flow localization regions of Ti40 alloy during deforming.Subsequently,the safe and instable domains of hot working of Ti40 alloy are identified and validated through microstructural investigations. 展开更多

In the real world, the inputs of many complicated systems are time-varying functions or processes. In order to predict the outputs of these systems with high speed and accuracy, this paper proposes a time series prediction model based on the wavelet process neural network, and develops the corresponding learning algorithm based on the expansion of the orthogonal basis functions. The effectiveness of the proposed time series prediction model and its learning algorithm is proved by the Macke-Glass time series prediction, and the comparative prediction results indicate that the proposed time series prediction model based on the wavelet process neural network seems to perform well and appears suitable for using as a good tool to predict the highly complex nonlinear time series. 展开更多

But linear PCA method is not well suitable for nonlinear chemical processes. A new PCA method based on im-proved input training neural network (IT-NN) is proposed for the nonlinear system modelling in this paper. Mo-mentum factor and adaptive learning rate are introduced into learning algorithm to improve the training speed of IT-NN. Contrasting to the auto-associative neural network (ANN), IT-NN has less hidden layers and higher training speed. The effectiveness is illustrated through a comparison of IT-NN with linear PCA and ANN with experiments. Moreover, the IT-NN is combined with RBF neural network (RBF-NN) to model the yields of ethylene and propyl-ene in the naphtha pyrolysis system. From the illustrative example and practical application, IT-NN combined with RBF-NN is an effective method of nonlinear chemical process modelling. 展开更多

Optimization of the process parameters is conducted using the genetic algorithm (GA). The experimental results have shown that a surface model of the neural network can describe the nonlinear implicit relationship between the parameters of the power spinning process:the wall margin and amount of expansion. It has been found that the process of determining spinning technological parameters can be accelerated using the optimization method developed based on the BP neural network and the genetic algorithm used for the process parameters of power spinning formation. Underwater target recognition is a key technology for underwater acoustic countermeasure.How to classify and recognize underwater targets according to the noise information of underwater targets has been a hot topic in the field of underwater acoustic signals.In this paper,the deep learning model is applied to underwater target recognition.Improved anti-noise Power-Normalized Cepstral Coefficients(ia-PNCC)is proposed,based on PNCC applied to underwater noises.Multitaper and normalized Gammatone filter banks are applied to improve the anti-noise capacity.The method is combined with a convolutional neural network in order to recognize the underwater target.Experiment results show that the acoustic feature presented by ia-PNCC has lower noise and are wellsuited to underwater target recognition using a convolutional neural network.Compared with the combination of convolutional neural network with single acoustic feature,such as MFCC(Mel-scale Frequency Cepstral Coefficients)or LPCC(Linear Prediction Cepstral Coefficients),the combination of the ia-PNCC with a convolutional neural network offers better accuracy for underwater target recognition. 展开更多

In this work,the nickel-based powder metallurgy superalloy FGH95 was selected as experimental material,and the experimental parameters in multiple overlap laser shock processing(LSP)treatment were selected based on orthogonal experimental design.The experimental data of residual stress and microhardness were measured in the same depth.The residual stress and microhardness laws were investigated and analyzed.Artificial neural network(ANN)with four layers(4-N-(N-1)-2)was applied to predict the residual stress and microhardness of FGH95 subjected to multiple overlap LSP.The experimental data were divided as training-testing sets in pairs.Laser energy,overlap rate,shocked times and depth were set as inputs,while residual stress and microhardness were set as outputs.The prediction performances with different network configuration of developed ANN models were compared and analyzed.The developed ANN model with network configuration of 4-7-6-2 showed the best predict performance.The predicted values showed a good agreement with the experimental values.In addition,the correlation coefficients among all the parameters and the effect of LSP parameters on materials response were studied.It can be concluded that ANN is a useful method to predict residual stress and microhardness of material subjected to LSP when with limited experimental data. 展开更多

In the coal-to-ethylene glycol(CTEG)process,precisely estimating quality variables is crucial for process monitoring,optimization,and control.A significant challenge in this regard is relying on offline laboratory analysis to obtain these variables,which often incurs substantial monetary costs and significant time delays.The resulting few-shot learning scenarios present a hurdle to the efficient development of predictive models.To address this issue,our study introduces the transferable adversarial slow feature extraction network(TASF-Net),an innovative approach designed specifically for few-shot quality prediction in the CTEG process.TASF-Net uniquely integrates the slowness principle with a deep Bayesian framework,effectively capturing the nonlinear and inertial characteristics of the CTEG process.Additionally,the model employs a variable attention mechanism to identify quality-related input variables adaptively at each time step.A key strength of TASF-Net lies in its ability to navigate the complex measurement noise,outliers,and system interference typical in CTEG data.Adversarial learning strategy using a min-max game is adopted to improve its robustness and ability to model irregular industrial data accurately and significantly.Furthermore,an incremental refining transfer learning framework is designed to further improve few-shot prediction performance achieved by transferring knowledge from the pretrained model on the source domain to the target domain.The effectiveness and superiority of TASF-Net have been empirically validated using a real-world CTEG dataset.Compared with some state-of-the-art methods,TASF-Net demonstrates exceptional capability in addressing the intricate challenges for few-shot quality prediction in the CTEG process. 展开更多

In the railway system,fasteners have the functions of damping,maintaining the track distance,and adjusting the track level.Therefore,routine maintenance and inspection of fasteners are important to ensure the safe operation of track lines.Currently,assessment methods for fastener tightness include manual observation,acoustic wave detection,and image detection.There are limitations such as low accuracy and efficiency,easy interference and misjudgment,and a lack of accurate,stable,and fast detection methods.Aiming at the small deformation characteristics and large elastic change of fasteners from full loosening to full tightening,this study proposes high-precision surface-structured light technology for fastener detection and fastener deformation feature extraction based on the center-line projection distance and a fastener tightness regression method based on neural networks.First,the method uses a 3D camera to obtain a fastener point cloud and then segments the elastic rod area based on the iterative closest point algorithm registration.Principal component analysis is used to calculate the normal vector of the segmented elastic rod surface and extract the point on the centerline of the elastic rod.The point is projected onto the upper surface of the bolt to calculate the projection distance.Subsequently,the mapping relationship between the projection distance sequence and fastener tightness is established,and the influence of each parameter on the fastener tightness prediction is analyzed.Finally,by setting up a fastener detection scene in the track experimental base,collecting data,and completing the algorithm verification,the results showed that the deviation between the fastener tightness regression value obtained after the algorithm processing and the actual measured value RMSE was 0.2196 mm,which significantly improved the effect compared with other tightness detection methods,and realized an effective fastener tightness regression. 展开更多

In this paper, the modelling and multi-objective optimal control of batch processes, using a recurrent neuro-fuzzy network, are presented. The recurrent neuro-fuzzy network, forms a "global" nonlinear long-range prediction model through the fuzzy conjunction of a number of "local" linear dynamic models. Network output is fed back to network input through one or more time delay units, which ensure that predictions from the recurrent neuro-fuzzy network are long-range. In building a recurrent neural network model, process knowledge is used initially to partition the processes non-linear characteristics into several local operating regions, and to aid in the initialisation of corresponding network weights. Process operational data is then used to train the network. Membership functions of the local regimes are identified, and local models are discovered via network training. Based on a recurrent neuro-fuzzy network model, a multi-objective optimal control policy can be obtained. The proposed technique is applied to a fed-batch reactor. 展开更多

The comparison between image segmentations with PNNs and with other neural networks is given. Eye health has become a global health concern and attracted broad attention.Over the years,researchers have proposed many state-of-the-art convolutional neural networks(CNNs)to assist ophthalmologists in diagnosing ocular diseases efficiently and precisely.However,most existing methods were dedicated to constructing sophisticated CNNs,inevitably ignoring the trade-off between performance and model complexity.To alleviate this paradox,this paper proposes a lightweight yet efficient network architecture,mixeddecomposed convolutional network(MDNet),to recognise ocular diseases.In MDNet,we introduce a novel mixed-decomposed depthwise convolution method,which takes advantage of depthwise convolution and depthwise dilated convolution operations to capture low-resolution and high-resolution patterns by using fewer computations and fewer parameters.We conduct extensive experiments on the clinical anterior segment optical coherence tomography(AS-OCT),LAG,University of California San Diego,and CIFAR-100 datasets.The results show our MDNet achieves a better trade-off between the performance and model complexity than efficient CNNs including MobileNets and MixNets.Specifically,our MDNet outperforms MobileNets by 2.5%of accuracy by using 22%fewer parameters and 30%fewer computations on the AS-OCT dataset. 展开更多
