Understanding the unstable evolution of railway slopes is the premise for preventing slope failure and ensuring the safe operation of trains. However,as two major factors affecting the stability of railway slopes, few scholars have explored the unstable evolution of railway slopes under the joint action of rainfall-vibration.Based on the model test of sandy soil slope, the unstable evolution process of slope under locomotive vibration, rainfall, and rainfall-vibration joint action conditions was simulated in this paper.By comparing and analyzing the variation trends of soil pressure and water content of slope under these conditions, the change laws of pore pressure under the influence of vibration and rainfall were explored. The main control factors affecting the stability of slope structure under the joint action conditions were further defined.Combined with the slope failure phenomena under these three conditions, the causes of slope instability resulting from each leading factor were clarified. Finally, according to the above conclusions, the unstable evolution of the slope under the rainfall-vibration joint action was determined. The test results show that the unstable evolution process of sandy soil slope, under the rainfall-vibration joint action, can be divided into:rainfall erosion cracking, vibration promotion penetrating, and slope instability sliding three stages. In the process of slope unstable evolution, rainfall and vibration play the roles of inducing and promoting slide respectively. In addition, the deep cracks, which are the premise for the formation of the sliding surface, and the violent irregular fluctuation of soil pressure, which reflects the near penetration of the sliding surface, constitute the instability characteristics of the railway slope together. This paper reveals the unstable evolution of sandy soil slopes under the joint action of rainfall-vibration,hoping to provide the theoretical basis for the early warning and prevention technology of railway slopes. 展开更多

The quantitative determination and evaluation of rock brittleness are crucial for the estimation of excavation efficiency and the improvement of hydraulic fracturing efficiency.Therefore,a“three-stage”triaxial loading and unloading stress path is designed and proposed.Subsequently, six brittleness indices are selected. In addition, the evolution characteristics of the six brittleness indices selected are characterized based on the bedding effect and the effect of confining pressure. Then, the entropy weight method(EWM)is introduced to assign weight to the six brittleness indices, and the comprehensive brittleness index Bcis defined and evaluated.Next, the new brittleness classification standard is determined, and the brittleness differences between the two stress paths are quantified. Finally, compared with the previous evaluation methods, the rationality of the proposed comprehensive brittleness index Bcis also verified. These results indicate that the proposed brittleness index Bccan reflect the brittle characteristics of deep bedded sandstone from the perspective of the whole life-cycle evolution process.Accordingly, the method proposed seems to offer reliable evaluations of the brittleness of deep bedded sandstone in deep engineering practices, although further validation is necessary. 展开更多

Based on petrological studies of the wall rocks, mineralizing rocks, ores and veins from the Laowangzhai gold deposit, it is discovered that along with the development of silication, carbonation and sulfidation, a kind of black opaque ultra-microlite material runs through the spaces between grains, fissures and cleavages. Under observations of the electron microprobe, scanning electronic microscopy and energy spectrum, this kind of ultra-microlite material is confirmed to consist of ultra microcrystalline quartz, silicate, sulfides and carbonates, as well as rutile, scheelite and specularite (magnetite), showing characters of liquation by the analyses of SEM and energy spectrum. The coexistence of immiscibility and precipitating co-crystallization strongly suggests that the mineralizing fluid changed from the melt to the hydrothermal fluid. Combined with the element geochemical researches, it is realized that the ultra-microlite aggregate is the direct relics of the mantle fluid behaving like a melt and supercritical fluid, which goes along with the mantle-derived magma and will escape from the magma body at a proper time. During the alteration process, the nature of the mantle fluid changed and it is mixed with the crustal fluid, which are favorable for mineralization in the Loawangzhai gold deposit. 展开更多

In order to investigate the effect of water content on the energy evolution of red sandstone, the axial loading–unloading experiments on dry and water-saturated sandstone samples were conducted, and the distribution and evolution of elastic energy and dissipated energy within the rock were measured. The results show that the saturation process from dry to fully-saturated states reduces the strength, rigidity and brittleness of the rock by 30.2%, 25.5% and 16.7%, respectively. The water-saturated sample has larger irreversible deformation in the pre-peak stage and smaller stress drop in the post-peak stage. The saturation process decreases the accumulation energy limit by 38.9%, but increases the dissipated energy and residual elastic energy density, thus greatly reducing the magnitude and rate of energy release. The water-saturated sample has lower conversion efficiency to elastic energy by 3% in the prepeak region; moreover, the elastic energy ratio falls with a smaller range in the post-peak stage. Therefore, saturation process can greatly reduce the risk of dynamic disaster, and heterogeneous water content can lead to dynamic disaster possibly on the other hand. 展开更多

Paleoenvironmental reconstruction is fundamental to understand the modern environmental changes and to predict future environment, which is especially critical to understand the evolution of land and sea during geological periods. However, the basic geological research on China's muddy coastal zone is not enough to provide quantitative data to compare with global changes. Therefore, in 2011, China Geological Survey deployed the "Late Quaternary geo-environmental evolution and modern process of China" project, and focused on the muddy coastal zones of the Liaodong Bay, Bohai Bay, the Yellow River Delta, Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta (Fig. 1). Next we will briefly introduce our latest results in the Bohai Bay. 展开更多

The Okinawa Trough is an initial back-arc basin that is influenced by the subduction of the Philippine Sea Plate and develops on the continental crust. The Okinawa Trough is a natural laboratory for the study of basin evolution, magmatism, and crustmantle processes in the early stage of back-arc spreading.Melt inclusions are small droplets of magma that are captured during the mineral crystallization process and can record the geochemical composition changes during magma evolution. In this study, the geochemical compositions of melt inclusions in host plagioclases of two volcanic rock samples at Station nos.9-1 and 9-2 from the southern Okinawa Trough are systematically analyzed.Based on previous studies, the origin and evolution of magma and the introduction of subducting materials in the study area are discussed. Results show that melt inclusions are characterized by the relative enrichment of large-ion lithophile elements, depletion of high-field-strength elements, and slight enrichment of rare earth elements.Indeed, the subduction of the Philippine Sea Plate introduced sediment-derived melts and fluids into the magma source area of the southern Okinawa Trough.Subsequently,4%to 5%partial melting of the hydrated mantle produces basaltic magma. The melt inclusions of andesite and dacite investigated in this study were formed by fractional crystallization of basaltic magma. Finally, the crystallization of plagioclase, pyroxene, and magnetite occurred during the late stage of magma evolution. The temperature-pressure data show that the melt inclusions in plagioclase have two capture periods:one is at temperatures above 1250℃and the other is at temperatures between 1180℃and 1200℃.The capture pressure of the inclusions at temperatures between 1180℃and 1200℃is between 5.6 kPa and 6.1 kPa,corresponding to the depth of 15–17 km below the seafloor. The geochemical characteristics of major and trace elements in inclusions show that the samples from two stations(i.e.,9-1 and 9-2)have similar or identical magma source areas. However, the crystallization differentiation reflected by inclusions in sample 9-1 is more obvious than that in sample 9-2.The inclusions were captured during magma evolution and were not contaminated by crustal materials. 展开更多

The rockburst of the poal pillar under a thick hard roof stratum is modelled as the instability failure problem of coal pillars under strata subject to elastic support. The instability mechanism of rockburst is studied by applying cusp catastrophic theory. The effects of the stiffness ratio of the system and loads imposed on the system on the rockburst are explicated. The factors affecting rockbursts are discussed. Based on them, the evolution process, the forewarning regularity arid forewarning sings of rockbursts are studied. It is indicated that the subsidence velocity of roof stratum, which increases quickly and tends to infinity, is the forewarning measurable signs of the rockbursts of coal pillar. 展开更多

Englacial and subglacial drainage systems of temperate glaciers have a strong influence on glacier dynamics, glacier-induced floods, glacier-weathering processes, and runoff from glacierized drainage basins. Proglacial discharge is partly controlled by the geometry of the glacial drainage network and by the process of producing meltwater. The glacial-drainage system of some alpine glaciers has been characterized using a model based on proglacial discharge analysis. In this paper, we apply cross-correlation analysis to hourly hydro-climatic data collected from China's Hailuogou Glacier, a typical temperate glacier in Mt. Gongga, to study the seasonal status changes of the englacial and subglacial drainage systems by discharge-temperature (Q-T) time lag analy-sis. During early ablation season (April-May) of 2003, 2004 and 2005, the change of englacial and subglacial drainage system usually leads several outburst flood events, which are also substantiated by observing the leakage of supraglacial pond and cre-vasses pond water during field works in April, 2008. At the end of ablation season (October-December), the glacial-drainage net-works become less hydro-efficient. Those events are evidenced by hourly hydro-process near the terminus of Hailuogou Glacier, and the analysis of Q-T time lags also can be a good indicator of those changes. However, more detailed observations or experi-ments, e.g. dye-tracing experiment and recording borehole water level variations, are necessary to describe the evolutionary status and processes of englacial and subglacial drainage systems evolution during ablation season. 展开更多

The morphologies of the nanostructures change from hexagonal nanoplates to nanorods with the extension of growth time. Secondary nucleation is the dominant factor responsible for the change of the morphologies. Structural analyses indicate that all the obtained nanostructures are well crystallized. IR-active phonons are mainly observed in the Raman spectra of the nanoplates and nanorods. The slight deviations are observed in the Raman modes between the nanoplates and nanorods, which could originate from confinement effect in the nanostructures. 展开更多

A multi-world mechanism is developed for modeling evolutionary design process from conceptual design to detailed design. In this mechanism, the evolutionary design database is represented by a sequence of worlds corresponding to the design descriptions at different design stages. In each world, only the differences with its ancestor world are recorded. When the design descriptions in one world are changed, these changes are then propagated to its descendant worlds automatically. A floating conductor exhibits a bipolar corona phenomenon with microscopic discharge characteristics that are still unclear. In this study,a plasma simulation model of the bipolar corona with 108 chemical reaction equations is established by combining hydrodynamics and plasma chemical reactions. The evolution characteristics of electrons, positive ions, negative ions and neutral particles,as well as the distribution characteristics of space charges are analyzed, and the evolutionary flow of microscopic particles is summarized. The results indicate that the positive end of the bipolar corona initiates discharge before the negative end,but the plasma chemistry at the negative end is more vigorous. The electron generation rate can reach 1240 mol(m^(3) s)^(-1),and the dissipation rate can reach 34 mol(m^(3) s)^(-1).The positive ion swarm is dominated by O_(4)^(+),and the maximum generation rate can reach 440 mol((m^(3) s)^(-1).The negative ion swarm is mainly O_(2) and O_(4).The O_(2) content is approximately 1.5-3 times that of O_(4),and the maximum reaction rate can reach 51 mol(m^(3) s)^(-1).The final destination of neutral particles is an accumulation in the form of O_(3) and NO,and the amount of O3 produced is approximately 4-6 times that of NO.The positive end of the bipolar corona is dominated by positive space charges, which continue to develop and spread outwards in the form of a pulse wave. The negative end exhibits a space charge distribution structure of concentrated positive charges and diffused negative charges. The validity of the microscopic simulation analysis is verified by the macroscopic discharge phenomenon. 展开更多

Luan River is the main water source in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, northern China, where the groundwater system is vulnerable and pollution issue is serious. It is significant for regional groundwater resources protection to identify the hydrogeochemistry evolution and affecting factors along flow direction occurred in the upper reaches, especially the surface water-groundwater(SWGW)conversion relationship. In this study, recharge, conversion and geochemistry evolution of SW and GW were elucidated based on physical-hydrochemical indicators and stable isotopes in 36 GW samples and 20 SW samples, which were collected in July 2019 and July 2020.The factor analysis was further utilized to determine the main factors responsible for regional hydrogeochemical evolution. Results indicate that GW recharged SW in plateau area, and SW and GW recharged each other in typical Alpine valley area. The hydrochemical types are HCO3-Ca·Mg and HCO3-Ca,and the hydrochemical evolution is dominated by weathering of silicate and carbonate minerals. The cation exchange adsorption has minor impact on groundwater hydrochemistry. The rise of SO42-and NO3-contents in groundwater is related to industrial and agricultural activities. The main controlling factors of SW hydrochemical components included recharge from groundwater, industrial and mining activities, explaining 90.04%of data variance.However,water-rock interaction, agricultural and domestic sewage are responsible for GW quality, accounting for 83.38%. 展开更多

The resource of the gas from coal and coal measures deep in Songliao Basin has been drawing more and more attention to . It is necessary to find out the evolution regularity of the geothermal field of the basin in addition to a series of geological studies in order to predict its resources because the ancient geothermal field of the basin is one of the main factors controlling the generation , evolution and disappearance of oil and gas . In the recent twenty years , it is generally believed that vitrinite reflectance is the best quantitative marker for the ancient geothermal field . In the present paper , a systematic study of the vitrinite reflectance value of Songliao Basin and its influence factors is made by multiple statistical analysis so as to reconstruct the evolutional process of the Moho and the corresponding geothermal field . Eastern Himalayan Syntaxis(EHS)is a tectonically active region that undergoes continuous geomorphic changes.Large landslides are predominant in this region.A giant landslide called Jiaobunong landslide on the northwestern flank of the EHS were studied and simulated to investigate the formation mechanism, evolutionary process, and failure mechanism of the landside,so that we could better understand the large complex ancient landslides in this region.Field investigation, geological background analyses, and numerical modeling were conducted to reveal the natural and seismic characteristics,as well as dynamic process of the landslide. The results show that the Jiaobunong landslide was the result of long-term geological and geomorphic evolution.Uplift, river incision, weathering, fault creep, glaciation, and earthquakes play key roles in the formation of landslides.Given the huge landslide volume, strong seismicity of the study area, proximity to an active fault, and the need for extra forces to induce landsliding, the Jiaobunong landslide was triggered by a paleo-earthquake.Using numerical simulation based on the discrete element method, the slope dynamic response of the earthquake as well as the mass movement and accumulation process was reproduced.Simulation results showed that the landslide movement experienced four stages:initiation phase(0-5 s),acceleration phase(5-35 s),deceleration phase(35-95 s),and the compaction and self-stabilization stage(after 95 s).The rock mass was disintegrated and experienced strong collisions during the movement. The dammed lake gradually disappeared because of long-term river incision by the overtopping river water. These processes play a vital role in the evolution of landforms in the region of EHS. 展开更多

The problem of "rich topics get richer"(RTGR) is popular to the topic models, which will bring the wrong topic distribution if the distributing process has not been intervened. In standard LDA(Latent Dirichlet Allocation) model, each word in all the documents has the same statistical ability. In fact, the words have different impact towards different topics.Under the guidance of this thought,we extend ILDA(Infinite LDA) by considering the bias role of words to divide the topics. We propose a self-adaptive topic model to overcome the RTGR problem specifically. The model proposed in this paper is adapted to three questions:(1) the topic number is changeable with the collection of the documents, which is suitable for the dynamic data;(2) the words have discriminating attributes to topic distribution;(3) a selfadaptive method is used to realize the automatic re-sampling.To verify our model,we design a topic evolution analysis system which can realize the following functions:the topic classification in each cycle, the topic correlation in the adjacent cycles and the strength calculation of the sub topics in the order. The experiment both on NIPS corpus and our self-built news collections showed that the system could meet the given demand, the result was feasible. 展开更多
