AD consists of four main phases: product modeling,...A newly emerging design pattern, named as adaptable design (AD), which aims at developing products that are adaptable from design to post-life cycle, is discussed. AD consists of four main phases: product modeling, design platform, specific design and product redesign. A new process-based design data model (PDDM) is presented which is organized according to the principles of convenient knowledge extraction, data representation, layout, sharing and reuse. Based on the PDDM, a universal design platform for product family development is established, which has characters of modularity, parameter-driven, variant design, etc. The framework of the platform is also proposed as a conceptual structure and overall logical organization for generating a family of products. AD methodology is successfully applied to develop a family of tunnel boring machine (TBM) for different engineering projects, with the efficiency of our developing team being greatly increased.展开更多

Then the most adaptive scheme can be generated through a procedure of comparison and evaluation. The procedure is essentially a multiple criteria decision-making problem. The traditional multiple criteria programming is not flexible enough in executing the system evaluation algorithm due to both the limited experimental data and the lack of human experiences. To make the CBR tool to be more efficient, a new method for the best choice among the feasible schemes based on the Fuzzy AHP using Fuzzy numbers (FFAHP) is proposed. Since the final results become a problem of ranking the mean of fuzzy numbers by the optimism of decision-maker using the FFAHP, its execution is much more intuitive and effective than with the traditional method.展开更多

The maintainability design criteria and measure index used in product maintainability analysis are summarized and discussed in this paper. A product maintainability design method is studied by integrating the product feature model, maintainability design criteria with measure index. Product feature model can be built on the basis of the product feature library quickly. Product feature library for steam turbine design is created by using SolidWorks design library origination structure. A methodology which supports the design and development of product maintainability design support tool (PMDSTs) is put forward. The function of PMDSTs is designed by using UML (Unified Modeling Language) use case diagram, it is developed by using VC++ 6.0. The maintainability analysis application case of steam turbine-generator system is given at last.展开更多
