The dynamic friction inside the valve may cause hysteresis and a dead zone. In this paper, a dither compensation mechanism is proposed to reduce negative effects on the basis of analyzing the mechanism of friction force. The specific dither signal(using a sinusoidal signal) was superimposed on the control signal of the valve. Based on the relationship between the parameters of the dither signal and the inherent characteristics of the proportional servo valve, a parameter tuning method was proposed, which uses a displacement sensor to measure the maximum static friction inside the valve. According to the experimental results, the proper amplitude ranges are determined for different pressures. In order to get the optimal parameters of the dither signal, some dither compensation experiments have been carried out on different signal amplitude and gas pressure conditions. Optimal parameters are determined under two kinds of pressure conditions. Using tuning parameters the valve spool displacement experiment has been taken. From the experiment results, hysteresis of the proportional servo valve is significantly reduced. And through simulation and experiments, the cut-off frequency of the proportional valve has also been widened. Therefore after adding the dither signal, the static and dynamic characteristics of the proportional valve are both improved to a certain degree. This research proposes a parameter tuning method of dither signal, and the validity of the method is verified experimentally.展开更多

An innovative CAE (computer aided engineering) methodology, developed combining CFD (computational fluid dynamics) simulations with lumped and distributed numerical modeling, is firstly introduced and tailored by comparing the numerical results with measurements coming from an experimental campaign performed for a wide range of pressure loads and metered flow rates. Then, both the reliability and the limits of the numerical approach are highlighted through a detailed numerical vs. experimental comparison, involving the pressure of the main hydraulic lines, the flow rate through the first section and the local compensator displacement. Finally, the CAE methodology has been applied for assessing the internal ducts hydraulic permeability and the local compensator spring pre-load influence on the control valve metering curves. At the end of this analysis, an optimized design configuration, featuring a maximum controlled volumetric flow rate increased of more than 25%, has been proposed.展开更多

Such designs are limited in adaptability and applicability. Moreover, their control valves can unload in the neutral position and eventually lead to serious hydraulic leakage over long operation periods. In response to the problems noted above, a multifunctional automatic hydraulic steering circuit is presented. The system design is composed of a 5-way-3-position proportional directional valve, two pilot-controlled check valves, a pressure-compensated directional valve, a pressurecompensated flow regulator valve, a load shuttle valve, and a check valve, among other components. It is adaptable to most open-center systems with constant flow supply and closed-center systems with load feedback. The design maintains the lowest pressure under load feedback and stays at the neutral position during unloading, thus meeting the requirements for steering. The steering controller is based on proportional-integral-derivative(PID) running on a 51-microcontroller-unit master control chip. An experimental platform is developed to establish the basic characteristics of the system subject to stepwise inputs and sinusoidal tracking. Test results show that the system design demonstrates excellent control accuracy, fast response, and negligible leak during long operation periods.展开更多

The performance of the valve is greatly influenced by the nonlinearity of the proportional solenoid, such as dead zone and low force gain with a small current, and this effect cannot be eliminated by a simple dead-zone current compensation. To avoid this disadvantage, we propose the differential control method(DCM). By employing DCM, the controller outputs differential signals to simultaneously energize both solenoids of the proportional valve, and the operating point is found by analyzing the force output of the two solenoids to make a minimum variation of the current force gain. The comparisons of the valve response characteristics are made between NCM and DCM by nonlinear dynamic simulation and experiments. Simulation and experimental results show that by using DCM, the frequency response of the valve is greatly enhanced, especially when the input is small, which means that the dynamic characteristics of the proportional valve are improved.展开更多

For the purpose of improving the dynamic performance, reliability, and digitization of the traditional proportional valve, a novel two-stage proportional valve with a pilot digital flow distribution is proposed from the viewpoint of the dual nozzle-flapper valve’s working principle. In particular, the dual nozzle-flapper is decoupled by two high-speed on/off valves (HSVs). First, the working principle and mathematical model of the proposed valve are determined. Then, the influences of the control parameters (duty cycle and switching frequency) and structural parameters (fixed orifice’s diameter and main valve’s spring) on the main valve’s motion are analyzed on the basis of theory, simulation, and experiment. In addition, in optimizing the value of the fixed orifice’s diameter, a new design criterion that considers the maximum pressure sensitivity, flow controllability, and flow linearization is proposed to improve the balance between the effective displacement and the displacement fluctuation of the main valve. The new scheme is verified by simulations and experiments. Experimental results of the closed-loop displacement tracking have demonstrated that the delay time of the main valve is always within 3.5 ms under different working conditions, and the tracking error can be significantly reduced using the higher switching frequency. The amplitude–frequency experiments indicate that a −3 dB-frequency of the proposed valve can reach 9.5 Hz in the case of ±50% full scale and 15 Hz in the case of 0%–50% full scale. The values can be further improved by increasing the flow rate of the pilot HSV.展开更多

文摘For an ultra-high-pressure hydraulic transmission system of a large-size hydraulic forging press(LHFP),a 70 MPa two-way proportional cartridge valve has been developed to improve the power weight ratio of the hydraulic forging press. In this study,a nominal diameter 25 mm(DN25)cartridge valve is taken as the research object.A longer concentric cylindrical annular gap is set to effectively prevent the ultra-high-pressure oil from flowing to the pilot stage and a seated valve structure is set to form the linear sealing zone in the closing state of the main valve port.Electric-displacement feedback is adopted to realize precise control of the main valve port flow and the features of this valve are investigated. In order to verify the strength and static and dynamic characteristics, the finite element model and a simulation model of the valve proposed above are built. There is a little deformation which does not affect the main valve spool movement, and the main valve port flow meets the design demands. Then, the prototype of DN2570 TPCV is manufactured and a ultra-high-pressure experimental platform is developed. The experimental results show that the DN2570 TPCV designed in this study has the advantage of fast response, high control precision, and low leakage, which can meet the requirements of LHFPs.

文摘To solve the dead⁃zone in the output flow curve of the proportional flow valve without displacement sensor,a dead⁃zone compensation approach is proposed in this paper.Instead of detection and feedback of the valve spool position, the proposed approach adopted the pressure drop across the valve metering orifice to accomplish the dead⁃zone compensation. The first step was to test and get the_(max)imum output flow,Q_(max),at a preset reference pressure drop, such asΔP_(0).The next step was to construct the target compensation flow curve, which is a line through(0,0)and(ΔP_(0),Q_(max)).Then a compensation law was designed to approach the target curve. However, the research results show that the above strategy caused over⁃compensation once the actual pressure drop deviated fromΔP_(0).Thus a correction coefficient,β,was presented to correct the initial compensation law as the pressure drop deviated fromΔP_(0).For example, the test results indicate that the corrected compensation approach could reduce the dead⁃zone from 53.9%to 3.5%at a pressure drop of 1 MPa;as the pressure drop was increased to 5 MPa,the dead⁃zone was reduced from 51.7%to 3.5%.Therefore,the following conclusions can be drawn:the proposed compensation approach is feasible, which can effectively reduce the dead⁃zone and improve the output flow static performance of the proportional flow valve without spool displacement feedback.
文摘The paper deals with the simulation and the experimental verification of the hydraulic behavior of an electro-hydraulic load-sensing proportional control valve. At the end of this analysis, an optimized design configuration, featuring a maximum controlled volumetric flow rate increased of more than 25%, has been proposed.

文摘Electro-hydraulic proportional valve is the core control valve in many hydraulic systems used in agricultural and engineering machinery. To address the problem related to the large throttling losses and poor stability typically associated with these valves, here, the beneficial effects of a triangular groove structure on the related hydraulic response are studied.A mathematical model of the pressure compensation system based on the power-bond graph method is introduced, and the AMESim software is used to simulate its response. The results show that the triangular groove structure increases the jet angle and effectively compensates for the hydrodynamic force. The steady-state differential pressure at the valve port of the new pressure compensation structure was 0.65 MPa.Furthermore, experimental results show that the pressure difference at the main valve port is 0.73 MPa,and that the response time is less than 0.2 s.It is concluded that the new compensation structure has good pressure compensation response characteristics.

文摘This paper presents a novel two-dimensional maglev servo proportional cartridge valve(2 D maglev valve),where a contactless maglev coupling is introduced between electro-mechanical converter and valve body to realize functions of force transmission, spool position feedback and linear-rotary motion conversion.Such configuration can effectively reduce cost of both valve manufacturing and electro-mechanical converter, while still maintain features of 2 D valve such as null pilot leakage, high power-to-weight ratio and excellent anti-pollution capacity.Firstly, the characteristic equation of the valve is derived using linear theory, and the stability criterion is established for parameter determination. The influences of crucial structural parameters such as initial height of overlapping area, width of high-pressure and low-pressure holes, acting radius of magnetic force, pitch angle of maglev coupling, length of sensitive chamber and system pressure on the dynamic response are investigated based on AMESim numerical simulation. The prototype valve is then designed and manufactured and a special test rig is built. The no-load flow characteristic, load flow characteristic, leakage characteristic, amplitude and phase frequency characteristics and step response under different system pressures are measured. The experimental results are in a good agreement with the simulated analysis. As an over-damped system, the prototype valve has excellent working stability, which can reach a no-load flow rate of 105.9 L/min with hysteresis of 3.51%,amplitude bandwidth of 28.7 Hz and phase bandwidth of 42.8 Hz under 21 MPa.The research indicates that the 2 D maglev valve can be a potential solution of flow rate control valve for flight control surface system of civil aircraft with high pressure and large flow rate application.

文摘Most automatic steering systems for large tractors are designed with hydraulic systems that run on either constant flow or constant pressure. Test results show that the system design demonstrates excellent control accuracy, fast response, and negligible leak during long operation periods.

文摘Calculating the flow coefficient of a spool-valve is complicated due to the coupling–throttling effect in the throttling grooves of a proportional–directional valve. In this paper,a methodology for expressing the flow coefficient of coupled throttling grooves is proposed to resolve that difficulty. With this purpose,an approach of a 3 D numerical simulation and an experimental bench were introduced based on the prototype of a commercial proportional valve. The results show consistency between the numerical simulation and the bench test.Based on that, the concept of‘saturation limit’is introduced to describe the value gap between the current and saturated flows,so that the flow-coefficient saturation limit of the prototype in the process can be deducted.Accordingly,an approximate flow coefficient suitable for coupled throttling grooves within finite variable space, which is based on three typical throttling structures(i.e.O-shape,U-shape,and C-shape)of the coupled throttling grooves,is obtained based on an orthogonal test. The model results are consistent with the numerical and experimental results, with maximum errors of less than 5.29%and 5.34%,respectively.This suggests that the proposed method is effective in approximating the flow coefficient.

文摘For the proportional directional valve controlled by two proportional solenoids, the normal control method(NCM) energizes only one solenoid at a time. Simulation and experimental results show that by using DCM, the frequency response of the valve is greatly enhanced, especially when the input is small, which means that the dynamic characteristics of the proportional valve are improved.

文摘Two-stage directional valves usually employ proportional pilot control technology, which has the disadvantages of dead zones, leakage, and the large moving mass of the pilot valve. It is difficult, therefore,to achieve fast-response performance of the main valve. In order to overcome this problem,a switching pilot technology that employs two independent high-speed on/off valves(HSVs)is proposed to replace the traditional pilot proportional valve.Due to the rapid switching characteristics of HSVs,the dead zone of the pilot stage is avoided, and the dynamic response performance of the main valve is improved. The experiments indicate that the switching frequency of the pilot HSVs and supply pressure of the pilot stage have a very large effect on the dynamic performance and control accuracy of the main valve.Increasing the switching frequency of the pilot HSVs is helpful for improving main-valve control accuracy. The larger supply pressure of the pilot stage can achieve a faster dynamic performance of the main valve while causing larger static errors. The results show that the switching pilot technology can clearly improve the static and dynamic performances of the main valve. With the increase of pilot supply pressure, the step rise time is reduced from 21.4 ms to 16.8 ms,and the dynamic performance of the main valve is improved by 21.5%.With the increase of pilot switching frequency, the steady-state error decreases from 24μm to 20μm,and the control accuracy of the main valve is improved by 16.7%.

文摘Pilot two-stage proportional valves are widely used in high-power hydraulic systems. The values can be further improved by increasing the flow rate of the pilot HSV.
