The results showed that the selection on breeding goal traits of each line was effective since 14 generations, especially the selection on growth traits did not cause adverse influence on reproductive performance. After the 6^ th generation, main performances of each line maintained in higher level, but the breeding progress obviously declined. It illustrated that current breeding means was effective for maintaining and consolidating breeding goal traits of Dahen broiler, and it should timely adjust breeding scheme to obtain more genetic progress.展开更多

Based on pure lines of yellow catfish,super-males and physiological females of yellow catfish were selected by GMT technique,hormonal sex reversal method and test-crossing to establish the germplasm bank of YY physiological females( YY♀). The propagation system of male yellow catfish( XY♂) was established based on the combination of super-males( YY♂) and pure-line female( XX♀) for large-scale production of pure-line yellow catfish males,which effectively overcome the disadvantages in the production of common fingerlings and male fingerlings using low-grade fish with slow growth and small size at the bottom of the fish grader as broodfish,such as progeny germplasm degeneration,loss of growth vigor and reduction of breeding benefits. [Method] Cbunjiang 16A was used as the female parent to cross with Indica-Japonica crossing material B125, which was used as male parent. Backcross breeding was contin- ued for consecutive generations to breed the CMS lines with wide compatibility and high outcrossing rate. [Result] Chunjiang 19A is a late medium Japonica CMS line with good fertility stability. The proportion of sterile plants and pollen abortion rates are 100% and the Cheng's index is 14. It is the japonicalinous CMS line with early flowering, partial stigma exsertion, high outcrossing rate, wide compatibility, high re- sistance to stripe disease and good combining ability. The hybrid rice combinations originated from Chunjiang 19A have strong tUlering ability, dominant heterosis, high resistance to stripe disease, great yield potential and good color change at mature stage. In order to determine the combining ability of elite inbred lines and the breeding potential of rapeseed hybrids in terms of pod shatter resistance, analysis of a 6×6 incomplete diallel cross was conducted at two locations. Results showed that a significant variation existed among breeding lines and their F1 hybrids for pod shatter resistant index (SRI), pod length and width. Pod shatter resistance was significantly positively correlated with pod length. The general combining ability (GCA) effects (GCA=l.58) played a more important role than specific combining ability (SCA) effects (SCA=0.20) for pod shatter trait. The elite lines R1, 1019B and 1055B displayed significant positive GCA effects for pod shatter resistance. Four crosses (1019B×R1, 1015B×R1, 6098B×R1, and 8908B×R1) with high mean performance and positive SCA effects were recommended for developing new hybrids for mechanical harvest in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River.展开更多

Four homologous restorer lines were obtained through testing the R target genes with molecular markers and analyzing parental genetic background. Inoculation of the four lines and their hybrids with the specific strains of Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae, P1, P6 and seven representative strains of Chinese pathotype, C Ⅰ -CⅦ, showed that all of the four lines and their hybrids were highly resistant and presented broad resistance-spectrum to BB. The hybrids of G46A / R207-2 displayed good agronomic characters and high yield potential, and R207-2 was named Shuhui 207.展开更多

UP-3s and two check sterile lines, Jin23-A and Xie-A which do not c...A new sterile line UP-3s, which carries the Dominant Early Maturity Gene (DEMG), was bred on the farm of University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB). UP-3s and two check sterile lines, Jin23-A and Xie-A which do not carry the Dominant Early Maturity Gene, were crossed with a group of different maturity restorer lines, PB-1R, PB-5R,PB11, PB-13R, PB-20, PB-21, PB-22R, and PB-23R. Eighteen new hybrid rice combinations of these crosses were then tested at UAPB in 2012 and 2013. The results showed that panicle differentiation (PD) of hybrids from female parent UP-3s (DEMG) crossed with the 8 male parents, were earlier than the hybrids from female parent Jin23-A or Xie-A crossed with the 8 male parents. The PD of these earlier hybrids was before Jun 25 and heading was before July 20. Early PD and heading avoided the high temperature (over 34°C) period which usually occurs after July 20 in Arkansas. The yields of these earlier maturity hybrids with female parent UP-3s were higher than those of the late maturity hybrids thatwereF1 progeny of sterile lines Jin23-A or Xie-A (these two female parent checks with non-DEMG). These results showed that the DEMG sterile line UP-3s can be adopted in making crosses with later maturity restorer lines to obtain earlier maturity hybrids to avoid the high temperature period in Arkansas.展开更多

Rice hybrids with dural resist...Genetic improvement is one of the most effective strategies to prevent rice from blast and bacterial blight (BB) diseases, the two most prevalent diseases jeopardizing rice production. Rice hybrids with dural resistance to blast and BB are needed for sustainable production of food. An incomplete diallele design resulted in 25 crosses between five blast and five BB resistant germplasm accessions. Only one pair of parents, DH146 ×TM487, showed polymorphism for all the markers to identify one blast resistance gene Pi25 and three BB resistance genes, Xa21, xa13 and xa5, thus it was used in the marker-assisted selection (MAS). F2 individuals of DH146× TM487 were genotyped using flanking markers of RM3330 and sequence tagged site (STS) marker SA7 for Pi25. The resistant F2 plants with Pi25 were used for pyramiding BB resistance genes Xa21, xa13 and xa5 identified by the markers pTA248, RM264 and RM153, respectively in subsequent generations. Finally, after selection for agronomic traits and restoration ability among 12 pyramided lines, we acquired an elite restorer line, R8012 including all four target genes (Pi25+Xa21+xa13+xa5). Hybrid Zhong 9NR8012 derived from the selected line showed stronger resistance to blast and BB, and higher grain yield than the commercial checks uniformally in experimental plots, 2007 state-wide yield trial and 2008 nation-wide yield trial. This study provides a paradigmatic example to show that MAS is a practically feasible tool in effectively pyramiding multiple resistance genes. The resultant restoring line and its hybrid would play an important role in securing rice production in China.展开更多

Previous studies have shown that soybean varieties with dwarf features and a short ...Phenotypic screening of soybean germplasm suitable for high planting density is currently the most viable strategy to increase yield. Previous studies have shown that soybean varieties with dwarf features and a short petiole often exhibit a compact plant architecture which could improve yield through increased planting density, although previously reported short petiole accessions were ultimately not usable for breeding in practice. Here, we established a method to assess petiole length and identified an elite mutant line, M657, that exhibits high photosynthetic efficiency. The agronomic traits of M657 were evaluated under field conditions, and appeared to be stable for short petiole across seven locations in northern, Huang–Huai, and southern China from 2017 to 2018. Compared with the Jihuang 13 wild type, the mutant M657 was shorter in both petiole length and plant height, exhibited lower total area of leaf, seed weight per plant and 100-seed weight, but had an increased number of effective branches and the growth period was prolonged by 2–7 days. Using M657 as a parental line for crosses with four other elite lines, we obtained four lines with desirable plant architecture and yield traits, thus demonstrating the feasibility of adopting M657 in breeding programs for soybean cultivars of high density and high yield.展开更多

All indicators of reproductive performance were improved in varying degrees during breeding, particularly the egg production at 68 weeks of age. The breeding progress of main target traits significantly slowed down after the second generation, but they still maintained at higher levels and the characters of S06M tended to be stable.展开更多

文摘Ningxian 2A is a new Indica CMS line with WA type sterile cytoplasm in rice. It was developed from the testcross between WA type indica CMS line Jin 23A and the single plant selected from the F_4 population of the cross Wuxiang 2B×Jin 23B followed by successive backcross over years. In September, 2014, it was technically identified by Jiangsu Provincial Crop Variety Appraisal Committee. Ningxian 2A has the characteristics of complete pollen sterility, high outcrossing rate, good plant type, high combining ability and good grain quality. Among its hybrids, Ningxian you 8( Ningxian 2A×R08) was registered and released for commercial production in Jiangsu Province in May, 2015.

文摘In 2006, the indica photoperiod- and thermo-sensitive genic male sterile (PTGMS) line Yan 161S was successful y bred by crossing the Guangzhan 63S (♀) and the medium indica breeding material Yan 229 (♂), which was bred by the Institute of Agricultural Sciences in Coastal Region of Jiangsu Province, after years' and generations’ selection in different areas. It passed the identification by Jiangsu Provincial Crop Variety Appraisal Committee in 2013. Crossing the Yan 161S with Yanhui 888, a new high-yielding and high-quality two-line hybrid rice combination Yanliangyou 1618 was developed, and it passed the variety identification in 2014. This paper introduced the breeding processes and characteristics of Yan 161S and Yanliangyou 1618 and the cultivation and seed production techniques of Yanliangyou 1618.

文摘The Chaling wild abortive type (CL-type) cytoplasmic male sterile line, E-Jing A, was characterized by stable sterility with a sterile plant percentage of 100%, a pollen sterile degree of 98% with dominated typical abortive pollens, and showed the characteristics of good outcrossing with a stigma exsertion rate of 48.2% and an outcrossing rate varied from 30% to 50%, good combining ability, and fine grain quality. E-Jing A was sensitive to temperature. Its duration from sowing to heading was 78-90 d when it was sown from mid May to early June at Wuhan. The breeding procedure of E-Jing A and its characteristics, relationship of restoring and maintaining were introduced.

文摘Renong 1Ais a new indica CMS line with leaf color marker, developed by testcrossing and continuous backcrossing, using a spontaneous mutant with vires-cent-yel ow leaf isolated from the progenies of T98B /Jin 23B ×Yixiang 1B as the male parent, and Fengyuan A as the female parent. Al the chlorotic leaves of Renong 1A turn green in later developmental stages from leaf tip to base. This is the reason why Renong 1A is a new ideal leaf color marker material in indica rice. It shows apparent and stable leaf marker trait, good agronomic traits, high outcross-ing rate, complete pol en sterility, fine grain quality and high combining ability. Renong 1A has already been technical y identified and certified by Hainan Provincial Crop Variety Appraisal Committee in 2013.

文摘Yangfujing 7A, derived from the cross between Xu 9201A and Yangfujing 7 and its successive backcrosses, is a BT-type japonica CMS line developed by the Agricultural Institute of Riparian Region of Jiangsu Province. It shows good integrat- ed characteristics, stable male sterility, good flowering habits, high out crossing rate, strong disease resistance, fine grain quality (reaching the 1st class of national standards for fine quality rice) and high combining ability. In 2012, it was technically identified in Jiangsu Province. Its F1 hybrid combination Tongyoujingl (Yangfujing 7 A/R98), showing high yield and good grain quality, was registered and released to commercial production by Jiangsu Crop Variety Appraisal Committee in 2013.

文摘Pod shatter resistance of rapeseed is of great importance for modem farming practice. In order to determine the combining ability of elite inbred lines and the breeding potential of rapeseed hybrids in terms of pod shatter resistance, analysis of a 6×6 incomplete diallel cross was conducted at two locations. Results showed that a significant variation existed among breeding lines and their F1 hybrids for pod shatter resistant index (SRI), pod length and width. Pod shatter resistance was significantly positively correlated with pod length. The general combining ability (GCA) effects (GCA=l.58) played a more important role than specific combining ability (SCA) effects (SCA=0.20) for pod shatter trait. The elite lines R1, 1019B and 1055B displayed significant positive GCA effects for pod shatter resistance. Four crosses (1019B×R1, 1015B×R1, 6098B×R1, and 8908B×R1) with high mean performance and positive SCA effects were recommended for developing new hybrids for mechanical harvest in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River.

文摘Kehui 36, derived from Minghui 63 / Taiyin 1(♀) // Nuo 89-1(♂), is a new rice restorer line developed by Chongqing Normal University, which exhibits strong cold tolerance, high restoring ability, large pollen amount and other characteristics. In 2013, Kehui 36 was technically identified by Chongqing Crop Variety Appraisal Committee. Gangyou 36, a hybrid line derived from Gang 46 A / Kehui 36,was registered and released for commercial production by Chongqing Crop Variety Appraisal Committee in 2012.
文摘Two bacterial blight (BB) resistance genes, Xa21 and Xa4, from IRBB24 were introduced into hybrid rice restorer line Mianhui 725, which is highly susceptible to BB, by using hybridization and molecular marker-assisted selection technology. Four homologous restorer lines were obtained through testing the R target genes with molecular markers and analyzing parental genetic background. Inoculation of the four lines and their hybrids with the specific strains of Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae, P1, P6 and seven representative strains of Chinese pathotype, C Ⅰ -CⅦ, showed that all of the four lines and their hybrids were highly resistant and presented broad resistance-spectrum to BB. The hybrids of G46A / R207-2 displayed good agronomic characters and high yield potential, and R207-2 was named Shuhui 207.
文摘A new sterile line UP-3s, which carries the Dominant Early Maturity Gene (DEMG), was bred on the farm of University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB). UP-3s and two check sterile lines, Jin23-A and Xie-A which do not carry the Dominant Early Maturity Gene, were crossed with a group of different maturity restorer lines, PB-1R, PB-5R,PB11, PB-13R, PB-20, PB-21, PB-22R, and PB-23R. Eighteen new hybrid rice combinations of these crosses were then tested at UAPB in 2012 and 2013. The results showed that panicle differentiation (PD) of hybrids from female parent UP-3s (DEMG) crossed with the 8 male parents, were earlier than the hybrids from female parent Jin23-A or Xie-A crossed with the 8 male parents. The PD of these earlier hybrids was before Jun 25 and heading was before July 20. Early PD and heading avoided the high temperature (over 34°C) period which usually occurs after July 20 in Arkansas. The yields of these earlier maturity hybrids with female parent UP-3s were higher than those of the late maturity hybrids thatwereF1 progeny of sterile lines Jin23-A or Xie-A (these two female parent checks with non-DEMG). These results showed that the DEMG sterile line UP-3s can be adopted in making crosses with later maturity restorer lines to obtain earlier maturity hybrids to avoid the high temperature period in Arkansas.

文摘A new rapeseed TGMS line 402S has been bred through six years with seven generations by hybridization and systematic breeding.402S possesses the similar thermo-sensitive male sterility to its female parent Xiangyou 91S which performed fertile,partially sterile and sterile throughout the flowering stage,and resembles its male parent Zhongshuang 4 on agronomic traits.And 402S has the double-low (low erutic acid and low glucosinolate) quality like its original parents.

文摘Genetic improvement is one of the most effective strategies to prevent rice from blast and bacterial blight (BB) diseases, the two most prevalent diseases jeopardizing rice production. Rice hybrids with dural resistance to blast and BB are needed for sustainable production of food. An incomplete diallele design resulted in 25 crosses between five blast and five BB resistant germplasm accessions. Only one pair of parents, DH146 ×TM487, showed polymorphism for all the markers to identify one blast resistance gene Pi25 and three BB resistance genes, Xa21, xa13 and xa5, thus it was used in the marker-assisted selection (MAS). F2 individuals of DH146× TM487 were genotyped using flanking markers of RM3330 and sequence tagged site (STS) marker SA7 for Pi25. The resistant F2 plants with Pi25 were used for pyramiding BB resistance genes Xa21, xa13 and xa5 identified by the markers pTA248, RM264 and RM153, respectively in subsequent generations. Finally, after selection for agronomic traits and restoration ability among 12 pyramided lines, we acquired an elite restorer line, R8012 including all four target genes (Pi25+Xa21+xa13+xa5). Hybrid Zhong 9NR8012 derived from the selected line showed stronger resistance to blast and BB, and higher grain yield than the commercial checks uniformally in experimental plots, 2007 state-wide yield trial and 2008 nation-wide yield trial. This study provides a paradigmatic example to show that MAS is a practically feasible tool in effectively pyramiding multiple resistance genes. The resultant restoring line and its hybrid would play an important role in securing rice production in China.

文摘Phenotypic screening of soybean germplasm suitable for high planting density is currently the most viable strategy to increase yield. Previous studies have shown that soybean varieties with dwarf features and a short petiole often exhibit a compact plant architecture which could improve yield through increased planting density, although previously reported short petiole accessions were ultimately not usable for breeding in practice. Here, we established a method to assess petiole length and identified an elite mutant line, M657, that exhibits high photosynthetic efficiency. The agronomic traits of M657 were evaluated under field conditions, and appeared to be stable for short petiole across seven locations in northern, Huang–Huai, and southern China from 2017 to 2018. Compared with the Jihuang 13 wild type, the mutant M657 was shorter in both petiole length and plant height, exhibited lower total area of leaf, seed weight per plant and 100-seed weight, but had an increased number of effective branches and the growth period was prolonged by 2–7 days. Using M657 as a parental line for crosses with four other elite lines, we obtained four lines with desirable plant architecture and yield traits, thus demonstrating the feasibility of adopting M657 in breeding programs for soybean cultivars of high density and high yield.

文摘The genetic and breeding progress of Dahen S06M line was analyzed, in order to improve the selection efficiency. The results showedthat six generations of selection was effective in selecting main characters of S06M line, especially the selection of growth rate had no adverse effecton reproductive performance. All indicators of reproductive performance were improved in varying degrees during breeding, particularly the egg production at 68 weeks of age. The breeding progress of main target traits significantly slowed down after the second generation, but they still maintained at higher levels and the characters of S06M tended to be stable.

文摘Taonong 1 A, developed from the cross of Jin 23A/(644B /Yixiang B) F2 and its successive backcrosses over years, is an indica CMS line in rice. It is characteristic of good agronomic characters, restorability, fine grain quality and high multiplication and hybrid seed yield. In 2012, its F1 hybrid combination Taoyou Xi- angzhan (Taonong 1A/Huanghuazhan) was evaluated as a 2nd class fine quality rice variety in Hunan Province. Both Taonong 1A and Taoyou Xiangzhan were regis- tered for release to commercial production by Hunan Provincial Crop Variety Ap- praisal Committee in 2015.
