Methods: Using the phenomenological research method in qualitative research, 12 pregnant women with fetal abnormalities less than 20 weeks of gestation in the obstetrics department of a hospital from January to April 2023 were selected as the research objects for semi-structured in-depth interviews. After information was collected to saturation, Colaizzi content analysis method was used to sort out, analyze and refine the data. Results: Through the interview results, three themes were refined from the transcript. Those are: 1) the support and assistance needed during the induction of labor;2) inner feelings after labor induction;3) The vision of future life. Conclusion: Abnormal fetal development at <20 weeks of gestation can cause anxiety, depression, guilt, loneliness and other negative emotions for pregnant women, and they need to get corresponding psychological support, especially during the period from fetal abnormality to induction of labor, pregnant women have to experience many physical and mental suffering, and need to get the care of family, relatives, friends, medical staff and society. Medical staff can help them seek multi-directional support, provide professional knowledge, and help them with self-management.展开更多

However, there is a limited understanding regarding the implications of specific patient advocacy outcomes experienced by nurses who advocate for patients in the hospital context. Purpose: This study explored the implications of patient advocacy outcomes experienced among practicing nurses in the hospital context. Methods: A qualitative, descriptive study design was utilized. Data was collected through purposive sampling and an in-depth semi-structured interview of 25 Registered Nurses in an acute care hospital. An inductive qualitative content analysis method was used, and the SRQR guidelines for reporting qualitative studies were followed. Results: This study revealed that nurses who succeeded in advocating for patients experienced feelings of happiness, increased confidence levels, increased work output, and job satisfaction. However, nurses who failed to succeed in advocating for patients experienced physical, emotional, and psychological consequences, which contributed negatively to the quality of patient care. Therapeutic communication and nurses’ commitment to intervene for patients emerged as vital qualities and skills required to succeed in the patient advocacy process. Conclusions: This study showed that patient advocacy has advantages. However, when nurses fail to succeed in their attempt to advocate for patients in clinical practice, the outcomes can negatively affect their own well-being and the quality of patient care delivery. These study results could promote awareness and help nurses to develop strategies for improving patient advocacy activities based on their experiences. Additionally, nurses can seek help, including psychological counseling, when necessary to enhance their optimal well-being as they care for their patients. Nursing educational institutions and hospital managers can support, train, and equip nurses with the required skills for enhancing positive advocacy outcomes. .展开更多

Methods: With descriptive phenomenology as the research method, semi-structured interviews were conducted with the medical staff in a tertiary hospital in Nanjing from February 1st to 10th, 2023, and Colaizzi seven-step analysis was used to analyze the data. Results: A total of 17 emergency medical staff were interviewed in this study. Four themes were derived from the analysis of the data: the etiology of acute abdomen is complex, so it is difficult to categorize them: acute abdomen requires immediate treatment, but the treat will be delayed if the categorization is inaccurate;the high pressure of nurses and the accuracy in categorizing the patients are problems that should be addressed. Conclusion: The categorization of patients with non-traumatic acute abdomen is challenging. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out corresponding intervention and formulate appropriate departmental evaluation tools to improve the accuracy of categorization of patients with acute abdomen.展开更多

Medical staff can help them seek multi-directional support, provide professional knowledge, and help them with self-management.
文摘Background: Nurses are expected by their international code of ethics to advocate for patients to enhance safety and quality care. Nursing educational institutions and hospital managers can support, train, and equip nurses with the required skills for enhancing positive advocacy outcomes. .
文摘Objective: To explore the work experience of medical staff in the emergency department of a general hospital in the triage of patients with non-traumatic acute abdomen to formulate corresponding intervention measures and branch evaluation tools. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out corresponding intervention and formulate appropriate departmental evaluation tools to improve the accuracy of categorization of patients with acute abdomen.

文摘Background:It is obvious that hemodialysis is a stressful process, leading to numerous social and psychological problems, and may cause fatigue and helplessness. Objective:This study aimed to explain the experiences of hemodialysis clients regarding the effect of psychological problems on fatigue. Methods:This article was extracted from a qualitative study conducted on clients undergoing hemodialysis in Khorramabad. To this end,a total of 15 participants were purposefully selected using the snowball sampling method and the required data was collected using individual, face to face, detailed and semi-structured interviews. There were 12 client interviewees and one doctor, one nurse and one hemodialysis client's spouse.Content analysis was used to analyze the data. Results:Continuous analysis of data and documents obtained from the interviews on the hemodialysis clients'experiences and comments regarding the main causes of fatigue revealed two main categories:1)Psychological effects with subcategories of psychological stress and exhaustion;2)Needs and constraints with subcategories of individual and social needs and constraints. Conclusion:According to the clients'speech and expression analysis, psychological impacts and disease-induced needs and constraints were the most important cause of fatigue and its continuation among these clients.
文摘Objective:This study aimed to describe the social determinants of health influencing obesity for the aged in a community context and based on the perspectives of various stakeholders. Methods:This was qualitative content analysis study using data from the focus group, individual in-depth interview, and observation. The study population was domiciled in Pakpoon Village,Mung Dis-trict,Nakhon Si Thammarat Province,a tight-knit settlement typical of most retirement communities.Data were collected through two focus group discussions, direct observation, and in-depth interviews with 19 participants.Respondents represented key community groups:local nurses and public health officers, elderly residents, family caregivers(family members),and village health volunteers. Results:The participants shared similar perspectives about the social determinants of health influencing obesity in the aged, which spanned three themes. These were:1)neighborhood food environment(easy access to unhealthy food,no choice to recruit healthy food);2)social networks influencing obesity(family affects food choices and prohibitions on exercise;belief, and socially imposed body image per-ceptions contributing to obesity in the aged);and 3)knowledge,attitudes,and beliefs behind lifestyle choices that cause obesity in the elderly(lack of awareness, personal attitudes, job and familial duties as barriers to engaging in physical activities;over-consumption behaviors lead to obesity in older people). Conclusion:These three themes were the root causes of obesity in the elderly in Pakpoon’s retirement community. This finding suggests that policymakers and nurses can create healthy environments, both to treat and prevent obesity,by raising awareness in younger generations, providing aging the provision of healthy food choices for older adults, encouraging health care professionals to share knowledge, and by modifying the attitudes and beliefs of both caregivers and older adults.
文摘Background: The Chinese Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CCUGH) was established within schools of public health in 2013 with the goal of enhancing global health in China.Expanding nursing students' exposure to global health curricula is important as nurses are essential actors in the health care system. However, information related to existing global health education within CCUGH-affiliated universities and the current engagement of Chinese schools of nursing in global health remains extremely limited. Objective: To identify and describe the current definitions and conceptualizations of global health education in Chinese universities, with a focus on schools of nursing,in order to explore potential opportunities for strengthened collaboration between global health initiative and schools of nursing in China. Methods: Purposive sampling with snowballing was used to recruit 19 key informants who were critical stakeholders in global health and nursing in China.Key informant interviews were conducted from July 2014 to February 2015,and data were updated in June 2016.Content analysis was used to analyze data via Atlas.ti 7.Results: There was a rapid growth in global health education within and beyond CCUGH-affiliated universities with nine universities establishing global health institutes.Translation and definition of global health lacked consistency in Chinese language.Though no course directly related to global health was offered, schools of nursing were gradually participating in global health education and research.Nursing was a critical component of global health, and global health and nursing mutually advanced each other.Nursing education should include global health contents, but at present independent global health curriculum in schools of nursing was not appropriate. Conclusion: Increasingly Chinese universities are promoting global health education through the platform of CCUGH.It is an ideal moment to promote and expand work across the fields of global health and nursing, specifically to highlight opportunities for collaboration across education, research and practice.
