Firstly, the partitioned spatial smoothing(PSS) technique is used to construct a block covariance matrix, so as to decorrelate the coherency of signals. Then a signal subspace can be obtained by singular value decomposition(SVD) of the covariance matrix. Using the signal subspace, two extended signal subspaces are constructed to compensate aperture loss caused by PSS.The elevation angles can be estimated by estimation of signal parameter via rotational invariance techniques(ESPRIT) algorithm. At last, the estimated elevation angles can be used to estimate automatically paired azimuth angles. Compared with some other ESPRIT algorithms, the proposed algorithm shows higher estimation accuracy, which can be proved through the simulation results.展开更多

However, it is quite difficult to find their DOAs due to the coherent nature of multipath signals and considerable computations when performing 2-D searches. In this paper, a new algorithm to estimate 2-D DOA of multiple narrow-band signals is proposed. A DOA cyclic matrix is constructed whose eigenvalues and eigenvectors can be simultaneously used to extract 2-D DOA without 2-D searches. By exploiting the temporal property of cyclostationarity, the signal detection capability is significantly improved. Besides, based on the decorrelation model for mobile terminal signals, the algorithm can be effectively extended to the coherent case without spatial smoothing and the loss of array aperture. Simulation results are given to illustrate the performance of the new algorithm.展开更多

An approach combining the combined information theoretic criteria and eigen- value correction, is presented to determine number of signals. The method uses maximum likelihood (ML) and information theoretic criteria to estimate coherent signals alternately, then eliminate the inequality of the eigenvalues caused by colored noise by correcting the noise eigenvalues. The computer simulation results prove the effective performance of the method.展开更多

A method to choose the bi-phase code is presented, which is 15 kinds of codes are picked out of 511 kinds of m series to do non-coherent integration. It is indicated that the power in- creasing times of larger target sidelobe is less than the power increasing times of smaller target main- lobe because of the larger target' s pseudo-randomness. Smaller target is integrated from larger tar- get sidelobe, which strengthens the detection capability of radar for smaller targets. According to the sidelobes distributing characteristic, a method is presented in this paper to remove the estimated sidelobes mean value for signal detection after non-coherent integration. Simulation results present that the SNR of small target can be improved approximately 6. 5 dB by the proposed method.展开更多

First, the sign Doppler Estimator is applied to estimate the Doppler shift of each radar resolution cell. And then, in terms of the Doppler shift, a retrieval algorithm extracting the vertical displacement of the sea surface has been proposed. The effects induced by radar look-direction and radar spatial resolution are both taken into account in this retrieval algorithm. The comparison between the sea surface spectrum of buoy data and the retrieved spectrum reveals that the function of the radar spatial resolution is equivalent to a low pass filter, impacting especially the spectrum of short gravity waves. For traditional GNSS receivers hardly able to track dynamic weak signals, the coupling between all visible satellite signals is ignored in the absence of navigation state feedback, and thermal noise error and dynamic stress threshold are contradictory due to non-coherent discriminators. The vector delay/frequency locked loop (VDFLL) with navigation state feedback and the joint vector tracking loop (JVTL) with coherent discriminator which is a synchronization parameter tracking loop based on maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) are proposed to improve the tracking sensitivity of GNSS receiver in dynamic weak signal environments. A joint vector position tracking loop (JVPTL) directly tracking user position and velocity is proposed to further improve tracking sensitivity. The coherent navigation parameter discriminator of JVPTL, being able to ease the contradiction between thermal noise error and dynamic stress threshold, is based on MLE according to the navigation parameter based linear model of received baseband signals. Simulation results show that JVPTL, which combines the advantages of both VDFLL and JVTL, performs better than both VDFLL and JVTL in dynamic weak signal environments.展开更多

Continuous coverage from close-in "pop-up" targets in clutter to long-range targets impacts selection of waveform parameters. The coherent processing interval (CPI) must be long enough to achieve a certain signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) that ensures the efficiency of detection. The condition of detection in the case of low SNR is analyzed, and three different cases that would occur during integration are discussed and a method to determine the CPI is presented. The time domain signal of every code sequence is collected by the data acquisition card (DAQ). A shift-averaging technique is applied in the frequency domain for the reason that the local oscillator (LO) in the coherent detection is fix-frequency deviated from the primary source. With the 31-bit simplex code, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) has 3.5-dB enhancement with the same single pulse traces, accordant with the theoretical analysis.
