In the algorithm, a frame length requires dynamical adjustment to achieve higher identification efficiency.Generally, the adjustment of the frame length is not only related to the number of tags, but also to the occurrence probability of capture effect. Existing algorithms could estimate both the number of tags and the probability of capture effect. Under large-scale RFID tag identification, however, the number of tags would be much larger than an initial frame length. In this scenario, the existing algorithm's estimation errors would substantially increase. In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm called capture-aware Bayesian estimate, which adopts Bayesian rules to accurately estimate the number and the probability simultaneously. From numerical results, the proposed algorithm adapts well to the large-scale RFID tag identification. It has lower estimation errors than the existing algorithms. Further, the identification efficiency from the proposed estimate is also higher than the existing algorithms.展开更多

With its focus on organizational efficiency and effectiveness, RFID technology is superior to barcodes in its ability to provide source automation features that increase the speed and volume of data collection for analysis. Today, applications that employ RFID are growing rapidly and this technology is in a continuous state of evolution and growth. As it continues to progress, RFID provides us with new opportunities to use business intelligence (BI) to monitor organizational operations and learn more about markets, as well as consumer attitudes, behaviors, and product preferences. This technology can even be used to prevent potentially faulty or spoiled products from ending up in the hands of consumers. However, RFID offers significant challenges to organizations that attempt to employ this technology. Most significantly, there exists the potential for RFID to overwhelm data collection and BI analytic efforts if organizations fail to effectively address RFID data integration issues. To this end, the purpose of this article is to explicate the dynamic technology of RFID and how it is being used today. Additionally, this article will provide insights into how RFID technology is evolving and how this technology relates to BI and issues related to data integration. This knowledge has never been more essential. While IT academic research into RFID development and issues has declined in recent years, RFID continues to be a vital area of exploration, especially as it relates to BI in the 21st century.展开更多

We call this system a PPS-RFID for short. The RFID systems have been found to have many applications in the internet of things (IOT) in the past decade. But semi-active RFID tags require an onboard battery which limits their applications in many fields. For these reasons, our research focuses on power sources for the RFID tags. This paper emphasizes the circuit design and simulation of PPS. In our tests, 0.283 mW was generated by PPS at 1 Hz vibration by a 650 N impact force. The results showed that the integrated PPS could supply sufficient power for the designed PPS-RFID tag. The PPS-RFID tag can be widely used for temperature monitoring during mobile transport of perishable items such as medicines or food.展开更多

In the measurements based on the frequency domain sampling (FDS), to expand the range of detection and allow the system work in harsh environments, it is necessary to enhance the identification capability at low SNR. In addition, to identify the tags in real time, it is important to reduce identification time. Therefore, estimation of signal parameters based on the Procrustes rotations via the rotational invariance technique (PRO-ESPRIT) is adopted. Experimental results show that good identification capability is achieved with a relatively faster measurement speed.展开更多

By harvesting these advantages of IR-UWB technology at the physical-layer design, this paper proposes that a cross layer architecture platform can be considered as a good integrator for different wireless short-ranges indoor protocols into a universal smart wireless-tagged architecture with new promising applications in cognitive radio for future applications. This RFID-M device allows for the rapid unique identification of the implant. Concern for imaging voids due to the presence of the RFID device during MRI screening scans have arisen given its metallic components. Our investigation aims to determine whether the Q Inside Safety Technology RFID-M device in the Motiva Implants Limits the visualization of breast tissue in conventional breast imaging modalities. Methods: Seven patients with Motiva Implants were referred to dedicated diagnostic breast imaging centers for evaluation of their prostheses and surrounding breast parenchyma between January and May 2018. Imaging indications included routine evaluation of implant integrity, evaluation of significant breast symptoms, oncologic follow-up, and breast cancer screenings. Results: Under mammography, the Motiva Implants have a similar contour and mobility to other commonly used implants. The RFID-M is not visible and produces no artifact, allowing for proper visualization and screening of all visualized parenchymal tissues. Under ultrasound, the Motiva Implants are well-visualized in all patients. The RFID-M was not visible in vivo. No related ultrasound artifact was apparent within the lumen or behind the implant as shown in Figure 2(a). Five patients received MRI. The breast parenchyma and axillae were well-visualized in all 5 patients. The RFID-M was found to produce a “butterfly-shaped” susceptibility artifact that projects into the lumen of the breast implant and causes image distortion in some of the surrounding soft tissues and chest wall posterior to the implant. Conclusion: Aside from making its presence evident inside the implant, the Q Inside Safety Technology RFID-M does not interfere with the mammographic or sonographic exam, its results, or any consequent diagnosis made via their analysis. In the same respect using optimized MRI sequences to evaluate patients we were able to obtain satisfactory visualization of breast tissue in patients with the new Motiva Implants, and recommend using optimized study protocols for both early cancer detection and assessment of the implant’s integrity.展开更多
