Energy Management of Networked Smart Railway Stations Considering Regenerative Braking, Energy Storage System, and Photovoltaic Units

The networking of microgrids has received significant attention in the form of a smart grid.In this paper,a set of smart railway stations,which is assumed as microgrids,is connected together.It has been tried to manage the energy exchanged between the networked microgrids to reduce received energy from the utility grid.Also,the operational costs of stations under various conditions decrease by applying the proposed method.The smart railway stations are studied in the presence of photovoltaic(PV)units,energy storage systems(ESSs),and regenerative braking strategies.Studying regenerative braking is one of the essential contributions.Moreover,the stochastic behaviors of the ESS’s initial state of energy and the uncertainty of PV power generation are taken into account through a scenario-based method.The networked microgrid scheme of railway stations(based on coordinated operation and scheduling)and independent operation of railway stations are studied.The proposed method is applied to realistic case studies,including three stations of Line 3 of Tehran Urban and Suburban Railway Operation Company(TUSROC).The rolling stock is simulated in the MATLAB environment.Thus,the coordinated operation of networked microgrids and independent operation of railway stations are optimized in the GAMS environment utilizing mixed-integer linear programming(MILP).

Research on the Application of Intelligent Construction Technology in Hangzhouxi Railway Station

Relying on the construction management of Hangzhouxi Railway Station,this paper analyses the comprehensive application of intelligent construction technology and the establishment of the common data environment(CDE)by using BIM technology.This paper gives the idea that such issues are deeply explored as large-span curved surface structure improvement,steel structure construction monitoring,special-shaped ticket check canopy construction,prefabricated machine room construction,grid construction management,etc.so as to form an intelligent construction management system based on BIM technology.The system has achieved good application results in economic benefits,social benefits and environmental benefits,which can promote the gradual transformation to a more digitalized,networked and intelligent Hangzhouxi Railway Station,and lay a solid foundation for achieving the construction goals of controllable construction period,excellent quality,green and low carbon,etc.

Study on the Application of Industrial Style Design in Railway Station Buildings along the Zhengzhou-Wanzhou High Speed Railway

With the improvement of economy and living quality,station buildings of high speed railway are no longer just a space to filfill the transport finction.As a business card of cities,station buildings of high speed railway prefer unique interior design,so the industrial style design featuring simplicity and variety gradually becomes a design trend.Taking the interior design of Changgebei Railway Station and Fangcheng Railway Station as an example,the paper analyzes the application of the industrial style design to high speed railway station buildings in three aspects:project overview,interior design and key issues of construction,and then reflects on and sums up the advantages and disadvantages of the design and construction.The two station buildings,among a very small quantity of station buildings nationwide where the industrial style design is adopted,provide experience and lessons while exploring a new direction for fiuture interior design of station buildings of high speed railway.

Simulation Modeling on Emergency Evacuation in High-Speed Railway Stations in China

A simulation study on occupant evacuation in high-speed railway stations(HSRSs) was presented in China.Pathfinder was employed as the simulation platform and a typical HSRS in a medium-sized city in China was selected for model development.The model was carefully calibrated and validated by comparing simulation results with field data.Evacuation efficiency could be improved with the increased door width while such effect decreased when the door width reached a marginal value.And the marginal value varied under different occupant densities.An exponential function between evacuation time and occupant density was fitted,indicating that occupant density significantly affected evacuation efficiency.A set of different evacuation strategies were compared,in terms of their evacuation performances.It was found that a balanced door usage would result in more efficient evacuations in HSRSs.Thus occupant flows were suggested to be managed considering door capacity.To avoid potential safety issues caused by such strategy(e.g.,more occupants could be evacuated from a smaller area designed with higher door capacity),occupants needed to enhance their awareness of following evacuation guidance instead of panic escape in emergencies.Moreover,such safety issues could also be avoided during the design phase that the evacuation capacity was designed to be proportional to the room capacity for each floor.The results of this study provide valuable information for HSRS design and flow management in China.

Assessment and simulation of evacuation in large railway stations

Evacuation systems in buildings are frequently assessed to improve emergency response processes.This paper proposes a method to evaluate the performance of different evacuation modes,and determine a rational mode for large railway stations.We developed a simulation for the evaluation of fire safety in large buildings based on an analytic hierarchy process(AHP)method.This approach includes AHP-based exploration and simulation-based refinement.We considered a typical railway station for validation,conducted a field survey to collect the data,and calculated the influencing factors based on expert opinion.The influencing factors were further processed based on the principles of a hierarchical model.The relative weights of the influencing factors were calculated through a series of pairwise comparisons using the AHP.Further,we applied factor refinement based on the evacuation simulations to determine the degree and status of influence of each factor.The influence of external factors was generally stronger than that of the internal factors.Among them,the building component characteristics and people's physiological capabilities were the core of the evacuation assessment in large railway stations.Additionally,the exit width,seat layout,visibility,speed,and reaction capabilities were crucial to the evacuation process.The proposed method is practical as it demands limited computations to provide useful information,such as a priority ranking of each influencing factor,for the evaluation process.

Defensible citadel:History and architectural character of the Lahore Railway Station

This study aims to investigate the defensible character of the Lahore railway station built in response to"the war of independenee in 1857,"which greatly impacted the location and design of the building.This study demonstrates the in tegral role played by the railway station in the development of the new colonial city,which the British wants to be defensive in every aspect.Railways were introduced in Pakistan(India)soon after their inauguration in Britain.Beginning from the mode of transportation,the multifaced contribution of railways toward the urban growth,new architectural style,mode of construction,and technology cannot be recanted.The research is based on the documentation and analysis of the history of Lahore railway station design.First,this study uses primary and secondary data to offer a history of the Lahore railway station from its inception to final execution.Second,it explores the criteria adopted by the British for its site selection to make the station a defensible post.The research finding in eludes the visual features that enhanced the architectural character of the building.Qualitative methods are used including several other approaches,namely,literature review,archival data collection,analysis of photographs,and study of architectural drawings and old maps,to achieve the objectives.
