Tracking and monitoring the environmental effects brought forth by the participating members along a supply chain is important to GSCM. The GreenSCOR model developed by the Supply Chain Council provides a generic framework for measuring the total carbon footprint and environmental footprint in a supply chain. The model is based on the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model, which represents a supply chain network in a hierarchically structured manner. This paper describes the GreenSCOR framework and its potential application to the construction industry. This paper also presents a web services approach to incorporate the GreenSCOR model to the implementation of collaborative information systems. Each process element in the SCOR model is represented and delivered as individual web service units, which can be reused and integrated using standard web services technologies. The service units are combined and managed in a prototype web service collaborative framework, called SC Collaborator, which is designed and developed for supporting construction supply chain management. An illustrative example is presented to demonstrate the implementation of the GreenSCOR-based SC Collaborator framework.展开更多

A novel exponential demand function is adopted, and the penalty cost is introduced explicitly to capture the deviation production cost caused by the market demand disruption. The optimal strategies are obtained for different disruption scale under the centralized mode. For the decentralized mode, it is proved that the supply chain can be fully coordinated by adjusting the price discount policy appropriately when disruption occurs. Furthermore, the authors point out that similar results can be established for more general demand functions that represent different market circumstances if certain assumptions are satisfied.展开更多

When integrated with the internet of things (IoT) to form RFID-IoT, this technology brings transformative advancements to SCM, enabling automated sensing, pervasive computing, and ubiquitous data access across the entire supply chain, from manufacturers and distributors to retailers and consumers. This integration facilitates real-time identification and monitoring of products, enhances various processes, improves logistic tracking, and ensures better product quality management. Despite its promising benefits, the adoption of RFID-IoT in SCM faces several challenges, including technical complexities, data security concerns, and high implementation costs. However, the future potential of RFID-IoT technology remains substantial. It is anticipated that further integration with other emerging technologies, such as block chain and artificial intelligence, will lead to more comprehensive and robust SCM solutions, offering unprecedented levels of transparency, efficiency, and automation in supply chain operations.展开更多
