BCM aims to reduce risks and develops plans for r...Planning and implementation as well as increased control over the Business Continuity Management (BCM) is a complex task in the company requiring adequate resources. BCM aims to reduce risks and develops plans for restoring business activities if they are interrupted by a disaster. The purpose of the paper is to analyze and describe two standards, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology (COBIT), especially their mapping for the improved planning and implementation of the BCM as well as the increased control over the BCM activities. COBIT is used more as a management framework, providing management tools, such as control objectives, metrics and maturity models in order to complement the control framework. ITIL includes process steps and tasks because it is more oriented towards IT processes (process framework), defining the best practice for IT service management. Within this mapping, ITIL processes may be used to achieve and demonstrate compliance with COBIT control objectives for BCM process.展开更多
On account of the background of China's "new normal" characterized by slower economic growth, this paper analyses the low-carbon economy status quo in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and empirically inv...On account of the background of China's "new normal" characterized by slower economic growth, this paper analyses the low-carbon economy status quo in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and empirically investigates the relationship between carbon dioxide(CO_2) emissions and its various factors for China's Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region using panel data econometric technique. We find evidence of existence of Environmental Kuznets Curve. Results also show that economic scale, industrial structure, and urbanization rate are crucial factors to promote CO_2emissions. However, technological progress, especially the domestic independent research and development, plays a key role in C0_2 emissions abatement. Next, we further analyze the correlation between each subregion and various factors according to Grey Relation Analysis. Thereby,our findings provide important implications for policymakers in air pollution control and C0_2 emissions reduction for this region.展开更多

Objective:Using isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation(i TRAQ)technology to study differential protein expression in the retinal tissue of DR mouse models,providing proteomic evidence at the protein leve...Objective:Using isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation(i TRAQ)technology to study differential protein expression in the retinal tissue of DR mouse models,providing proteomic evidence at the protein level for the pathogenesis of DR.Methods:Firstly,establish diabetic mice and DR mice models,use i TRAQ technology to detect the retinal tissue samples of normal control group and DR model group mice,label the total retinal proteins of mice with i TRAQ reagent,and analyze them using mass spectrometry technology.Evaluate the differential proteins of the two groups using BioWorks TM 3.0 software,and conduct interaction feature analysis on the different proteins using the STRING website.Results:The i TRAQ technology detected a total of 406 different proteins between the diabetes and normal control groups,with 19 of them closely related to retinal cell apoptosis.Among them,significantly different proteins include acyl-CoA dehydrogenase short chain specific(ACADS),ataxin-10(ATXN10),BCL-2-associated X protein(BAX),caspase-3(CASP3),collagen type IIα1 chain(COL4A2),glycyl-tRNA synthetase(GARS),glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP),legumain(LGMN),mucin-4(MUC4),N-myc downstream-regulated gene 1 protein(NDRG1),with ratios to internal controls in the normal group of 1.67,2.06,1.76,2.16,1.53,1.87,1.24,1.61,0.42,0.56,respectively;and there is a potential functional association between GFAP,CASP3,and BAX proteins.Conclusion:In DR mice retinas,there are abnormal changes in the expression of a large number of apoptosis-related proteins.i TRAQ technology can effectively screen out key apoptosis proteins,among which GFAP,CASP3,and BAX may have adverse effects on the progression of DR by participating in the apoptosis process.The application of i TRAQ technology can provide new technical support for proteomic research on apoptosis proteins.展开更多
In the field of philosophy of technology,the concept of mediation is central to understanding how technology shapes human experience and behavior.Our aim in this paper is to contribute to the understanding of technolo...In the field of philosophy of technology,the concept of mediation is central to understanding how technology shapes human experience and behavior.Our aim in this paper is to contribute to the understanding of technological mediation,in particular how and why it is possible.Technological mediation occurs within a mediation space between the technological realm and the user realm.In the technological realm,technology regularizes events and actions,while in the user realm,the user interprets the significative potential of the technology.This interpretation process is identical with use and involves the formation of user habits,which are constrained by technological,cognitive,and sociocultural factors.To provide a theoretical framework for our analysis,we propose the Semiotic Model of Technological Mediation(SMTM),which draws on Charles Peirceʼs semiotics.To illustrate our argument,we focus on assistive technology and provide a recurring example of the Medimi®Smart,a digital,comprehensive system for medication handling.展开更多
Crop yields are affected by climate change and technological advancement.Objectively and quantitatively evaluating the attribution of crop yield change to climate change and technological advancement will ensure susta...Crop yields are affected by climate change and technological advancement.Objectively and quantitatively evaluating the attribution of crop yield change to climate change and technological advancement will ensure sustainable development of agriculture under climate change.In this study,daily climate variables obtained from 553 meteorological stations in China for the period 1961-2010,detailed observations of maize from 653 agricultural meteorological stations for the period 1981-2010,and results using an Agro-Ecological Zones(AEZ) model,are used to explore the attribution of maize(Zea mays L.) yield change to climate change and technological advancement.In the AEZ model,the climatic potential productivity is examined through three step-by-step levels:photosynthetic potential productivity,photosynthetic thermal potential productivity,and climatic potential productivity.The relative impacts of different climate variables on climatic potential productivity of maize from 1961 to 2010 in China are then evaluated.Combined with the observations of maize,the contributions of climate change and technological advancement to maize yield from 1981 to 2010 in China are separated.The results show that,from 1961 to 2010,climate change had a significant adverse impact on the climatic potential productivity of maize in China.Decreased radiation and increased temperature were the main factors leading to the decrease of climatic potential productivity.However,changes in precipitation had only a small effect.The maize yields of the 14 main planting provinces in China increased obviously over the past 30 years,which was opposite to the decreasing trends of climatic potential productivity.This suggests that technological advancement has offset the negative effects of climate change on maize yield.Technological advancement contributed to maize yield increases by 99.6%-141.6%,while climate change contribution was from-41.4%to 0.4%.In particular,the actual maize yields in Shandong,Henan,Jilin,and Inner Mongolia increased by 98.4,90.4,98.7,and 121.5 kg hm^(-2) yr^(-1) over the past 30 years,respectively.Correspondingly,the maize yields affected by technological advancement increased by 113.7,97.9,111.5,and 124.8 kg hm^(-2) yr^(-1),respectively.On the contrary,maize yields reduced markedly under climate change,with an average reduction of-9.0 kg hm^(-2) yr^(-1).Our findings highlight that agronomic technological advancement has contributed dominantly to maize yield increases in China in the past three decades.展开更多
