First, the relevance feedback isadapted to refine the recognition results and reduce the ambiguity incrementally based on theestablishment of a feature-based vector model of a user's sketches. Secondly, a dynamic usermodeling is introduced to model the user's sketching habits based on recording and analyzinghistorical information incrementally. A model-based matching strategy is also employed in the methodto recognize sketches dynamically. Experiments prove that the proposed method is both effective andefficient.展开更多

It has a good effect on reducing the semantic gap between high semantics and low semantics of images. There are many kinds of support vector machines (SVM) based relevance feedback methods in image retrieval, but all of them may encounter some problems, such as a small size of sample, an asymmetric positive sample and negative sample as well as a long feedback cycle. To deal with these problems, an improved asymmetric bagging (IAB) relevance feedback algorithm is proposed. Furthermore, we apply a new fuzzy support machine (FSVM) to cooperate with IAB. To solve the over-fitting and real-time problems, we use modified local binary patterns (MLBP) as image features. Finally, experimental results demonstrate that our method performs other methods in terms of improving retrieval precision as well as retrieval efficiency.展开更多

This paper describes an online metric learning approach for a set of ranking functions. In the feedback round, the most relevant and most nonrelevant images related to the target image are selected to construct a relative comparison triplet. The weighting parameters of the multiple ranking functions are updated by minimizing a quadratic objective function constrained by the triplet. The approach unifies the learning algorithm for the most commonly used ranking functions. Thus, multiple features with their own ranking function can easily be employed in the ranking module without feature reconstruction. The method is computationally inexpensive and appropriate for large-scale e-commerce image retrieval applications. Customized ranking functions are well supported. Practically, simplified ranking functions yield better results when the number of query rounds is relatively small. Experiments with an image dataset from a real e-commerce platform show the superiority of the proposed approach.展开更多
Background Circular electron positron collider(CEPC)is a 100-km electron positron collider proposed by IHEP.The longitudinal coupled-bunch instability(LCBI)of CEPC main ring operating to study the Z particle(Z machine...Background Circular electron positron collider(CEPC)is a 100-km electron positron collider proposed by IHEP.The longitudinal coupled-bunch instability(LCBI)of CEPC main ring operating to study the Z particle(Z machine)may be a limiting factor of CEPC and needs to be considered seriously.Purpose The purposes of this paper are to calculate the LCBI caused by the fundamental mode of superconducting RF cavities in CEPC main ring,which is the most critical impedance,and to complete the design of the RF feedback systems suitable for CEPC,whose specifications can suppress the LCBI to a manageable level.Methods The LCBI growth rate in the CEPC main ring is calculated in the frequency domain.Two kinds of RF feedback,i.e.,direct feedback and one-turn delay feedback,are simulated with the program to suppress the LCBI.And according to the suppression effect of LCBI growth rate after adding RF feedback,the required design parameters are given.Results Two operation conditions of Z machine have severe LCBI without suppression,and dozens of longitudinal modes are unstable.Only the direct RF feedback is needed to suppress LCBI in the case of Z-30 MW,while both the direct RF feedback with maximum gain and one-turn feedback are needed in the case of Z-50 MW.The LCBI growth rates can be reduced to the order of half frequency of the synchronous oscillation.Conclusion The LCBI of CEPC Z machine has been studied.Selecting appropriate feedback RF feedback can reduce the LCBI to an acceptable value that bunch by bunch feedback can suppress.展开更多

The selection of the terms that are suitable for use as additional words is in general dependent on the degree of relatedness between each candidate expansion term and the query keywords. In this paper, we propose two criteria for evaluating the degree of relatedness between a candidate expansion word and the query keywords: (1) co-occurrence frequency, where more importance is attributed to terms oc- curring in the largest possible number of documents where the query keywords appear; (2) proximity, where more im- portance is assigned to terms having a short distance from the query terms within documents. We also employ the strength Pareto fitness assignment in order to satisfy both criteria si- multaneously. The results of our numerical experiments on MEDLINE, the online medical information database, show that the proposed approach significantly enhances the re- trieval performance as compared to the baseline.展开更多
