The formation strength plateau of ceramics is addressed. A set of of 99A1203 are conducted, mechanism of the residual subjected to thermal shock thermal shock experiments where the thin specimens of 1 mm× 10 mm×50 mm exhibit parallel through edge cracks, and thus permit quantitative measurements of the crack patterns. The cracks evolve with the severity of ther- mal shock. It is found that there is a correlation between the length and density of the thermal shock cracks. The increase of crack length weakens the residual strength, whereas the increase of crack density improves it. In a considerably wide temperature range, the two contrary effects just counteract each other; consequently a plateau appears in the variation curve of the residual strength. A comparison between the numerical and experimental results of the residual strength is made, and they are found in good agreement. This work is helpful to a deep understanding of the thermal shock failure of ceramics. 展开更多

Using a modified 3D random representative volume(RV)finite element model, the effects of model dimensions(impact region and interval between impact and representative regions),model shapes(rectangular, square, and circular),and peening-induced thermal softening on resultant critical quantities(residual stress,Almen intensity, coverage, and arc height)after shot peening are systematically examined.A new quantity,i.e.,the interval between impact and representative regions,is introduced and its optimal value is first determined to eliminate any boundary effect on shot peening results. Then, model dimensions are respectively assessed for all model shapes to reflect the actual shot peening process, based on which shape-independent critical shot peening quantities are obtained.Further,it is found that thermal softening of the target material due to shot peening leads to variances of the surface residual stress and arc height, demonstrating the necessity of considering the thermal effect in a constitutive material model of shot peeing. Our study clarifies some of the finite element modeling aspects and lays the ground for accurate modeling of the SP process. 展开更多

However, it often contains a high concentration of heavy metals so its application should cause our concern. An incubation experiment was conducted to study the risk of pig biogas residue (PBR) and chicken biogas residue (CBR) application on Liuminying soil (LS) and Yixing soil (YS). The soils were incubated for one, three and six months with 0, 2%, 4% and 6% addition of BRs. According to BCR extraction results, the PBR and CBR applications induced an increase in the concentration of exchangeable fraction of Zn. As for the concentration of exchangeable fraction of Cu, an increase was only observed in the treatments with PBR application. The heavy metal binding intensity also showed a similar trend. With the PBR application, for the LS and YS, the highest concentrations of exchangeable Zn increased 3.6 and 9.5 times, respectively, while the exchangeable Cu was increased by 52.6% and 187.1%. Dissolved organic carbon was the limiting factor for the exchangeable Cu while the exchangeable Zn was controlled by soil pH. PBR presented more agricultural risk than CBR when used as fertilizer. Meanwhile, BRs were more adaptable to LS than YS according to the heavy metal release results. 展开更多
