By comparing with the creep rule of dry rock in the same location, the creep rule of deep saturated rock was analyzed. Based on the united rheological mechanical model, the rheological model of deep saturated rock was recognized, and the parameters of the model were determined. The results show that the creep curves are very smooth under low stress, but the phenomena of wave and catastrophe turn up under high stress, and the bearing capacity of rock is weakening over time. This paper examines temperature effects on the rheological properties of two types of high-density water-based drilling fluids (fresh water-based and brine-based) under high temperature and high pressure (HTHP) with a Fann 50SL rheometer. On the basis of the water-based drilling fluid systems formulated in laboratory, this paper mainly describes the influences of different types and concentration of clay, the content of a colloid stabilizer named GHJ-1 and fluid density on the rheological parameters such as viscosity and shear stress. In addition, the effects of aging temperature and aging time of the drilling fluid on these parameters were also examined. Clay content and proportions for different densities of brine-based fluids were recommended to effectively regulate the rheological properties. Four theological models, the Bingham, power law, Casson and H-B models, were employed to fit the rheological parameters. It turns out that the H-B model was the best one to describe the rheological properties of the high-density drilling fluid under HTHP conditions and power law model produced the worst fit. In addition, a new mathematical model that describes the apparent viscosity as a function of temperature and pressure was established and has been applied on site.展开更多

It is more reasonable to describe the reversible and the irreversible deformations of sample separately during creep process. A nonlinear elastic-visco-plastic rheological model is presented to characterize the time-based deformational behavior of hard rock. Specifically, a spring element is used to describe reversible instantaneous elastic deformation. A reversible nonlinear visco-elastic (RNVE) model is developed to characterize recoverable visco-elastic response. A combined model, which contains a fractional derivative dashpot in series with another Hook’s body, and a St. Venant body in parallel with them, is proposed to describe irreversible visco-plastic deformation. Furthermore, a three-stage damage equation based on strain energy is developed in the visco-plastic portion and then nonlinear elastic-visco-plastic rheological damage model is established to explain the trimodal creep response of hard rock. Finally, the proposed model is validated by a laboratory triaxial rheological experiment. Comparing with theoretical and experimental results, this rheological damage model characterizes well the reversible and irreversible deformations of the sample, especially the tertiary creep behavior.展开更多

A new grease rheological model suited to a shear strain rate range of 0—3.5×10~6s^(-1) was presented. The results showed that the shear stress increased linearly at first and then increased nonlinearly with the increase in shear strain rate up to 1.5×10~6s^(-1), and finally the shear stress decreased slightly with the successive increase in shear strain rate. The shear stress increased with a decreasing rolling speed and an increasing contact pressure. The apparent viscosity decreased rapidly with the increase of shear strain rate at beginning and could approach the viscosity of the base oil if the shear strain rate surpassed 1.5×10~6s^(-1). The fits between the test data and the predicted values by the new model were fairly good.展开更多

The shear thinning effect on the viscosity is taken into account in the lubricant rheological model. The perturbation theory and short bearing theory are employed to set up the static and dynamic lubrication model on the head disk interface. Close solutions are given for the pressure distribution, load capacity and the dynamic characteristics such as stiffness and damping coefficients, which provide a simple method to analyze the dynamic response of the slider supported by the ultra thin fluid film lubricated bearing. Based on the close solutions the static and dynamic responses of the IBM 3380 slider are simulated. Some interesting results are obtained for the analysis of the slider’s flying stability.展开更多

The time-dependent skin degradation is simulated with a non-linear rheological model capable of simulating tertiary creep, whereby two different pillar failure cases are investigated. The first case is of an isolated pillar in a deep hard rock underground mine and subjected to high stresses. The results show that pillar degradation is limited to the regions near the surface or the skin until two months after ore extraction. Afterwards degradation starts to extend deeper into the pillar, eventually leaving a highly-stressed pillar core due to stress transfer from the failed skin.Rockburst potential indices show that the risk increases exponentially at the core as time goes by. It is then demonstrated that the progressive skin degradation cannot be simulated with conventional strain-softening model assuming brittle failure. The parametric study with respect to the degree of heterogeneity reveals that heterogeneity is key to the occurrence of progressive skin degradation. The second case investigated in this study is pillar failure taking place in a very long period. Such failure becomes significantly important when assessing the risk for ground subsidence caused by pillar collapse in an abandoned mine. The analysis results demonstrate that the employed non-linear rheological model can simulate gradual skin degradation taking place over several hundred years. The percentage of damage zone volume within the pillar is merely 1% after a lapse of one days and increases to 50% after one hundred years, indicating a high risk for pillar collapse in the long term. The vertical displacements within the pillar also indicate the risk of subsidence. The proposed method is suitable for evaluating the risk of ground surface subsidence above an abandoned mine.展开更多

The results show that the spatio-temporal change of bulk-strain produced by the hard inclusion has three stages of different characteristics, which are similar to most of those geodetic deformation curves, but those by a soft inclusion do not. The α-stage is a long stage in which the precursors in both the near source region and the far field develop from the focal region to the periphery. The β-stage indicates a very rapid propagation of the precursors, so that they almost appear everywhere. During the γ-stage, the precursors in the far-field converge from the periphery, and the precursors in the near source region develop outwards. The theoretical results have been used to explain tentatively the stage characteristics of the spatio-temporal change of earthquake precursors.展开更多

However, most of rock is in a deformation environment and non hydrostatic state, especially in an orogenic belt, so that the calculated depth may be exaggerated in comparison with the actual depth according to the hydrostatic formula. In the finite slight deformation and elastic model, the relative actual depth value from the 3 axis strain data was obtained with the measurement of strain including that of superimposed tectonic forces but excluding that of time factor for the strain. If some data on the strain speed are obtained, the depth would be more realistically calculated according to the rheological model because the geological body often experiences long term creep strains.展开更多

Based. on the theory of rock rheology and probability integral method, this study developed the superposltlOn model for the prediction and analysis of the ground dynamic subsidence in mining area of thick !oose layer. The model consists of two parts (the prediction of overlying bedrock and the prediction of thick loose layer). The overlying bedrock is regarded as visco-elastic beam, of which the dynamic subsidence is predicted by the Kelvin visco-elastic rheological model. The thick loose layer is regarded as random medium, and the ground dynamic subsidence, is predicted by the probability integral model. At last, the two prediction models are vertically stacked in the same coordinate system, and the bedrock dynamic subsidence is regarded as a variable mining thickness input into the prediction model of ground dynamic subsidence. The prediction results obtained were compared w^th actual movement and deformation data from Zhao I and Zhao II mine, central China. The agreement of the prediction results with the. field measurements.show that the superposition model (SM) is more satisfactory and the formulae obtained are more effective than the classical single probability Integral model(SPIM), and thus can be effectively used for predicting the ground dynamic subsidence in mining area of thick loose layer.展开更多

The fits between the test data and the predicted values by the new model were fairly good.
文摘Static and dynamic numerical simulations of high recording density disk drivers are presented in this paper. Some interesting results are obtained for the analysis of the slider’s flying stability.

文摘This paper focuses on the instability mechanism of an isolated pillar, caused by time-dependent skin degradation and strength heterogeneity. The proposed method is suitable for evaluating the risk of ground surface subsidence above an abandoned mine.

文摘Large squeezing deformation of layered soft rock tunnel under high geo-stress has a significant time-dependent deformation behavior. In this paper,we studied the deformation mechanism during the construction period of deep-buried softrock tunnel by means of a combination of field observations and a numerical method.First,a new classification criterion for large deformations based on the power exponent variation law between the deformation and the strength-stress ratio is proposed. Then, the initial damage tensor reflecting the bedding plane(joint)distribution and an equivalent damage evolution equation derived from the viscoplastic strain are introduced based on the geometric research method,i.e.,a new rheological damage model(RDL model)of layered soft rock is established consisting of elastic, viscous, viscoelastic, viscoplastic and plastic elements.A field test was conducted on the Maoxian tunnel in Sichuan province, southwestern China, which is in broken phyllite(layered soft rock)under high geo-stress.The tunnel has experienced large deformation due to serious squeezing pressure, thus we adopted double primary support method to overcome the supporting structure failure problems. The rheological parameters of phyllite in the Maoxian tunnel were recognized by using SA-PSO optimization, and the RDL model does a good job in describing the time-dependent deformation behavior of a layered soft-rock tunnel under high geo-stress.Thus,the RDL model was used to investigate the supporting effect and bearing mechanism of the double primary support method.Compared with the single primary support method, the surrounding rock pressure, secondary lining force, surrounding rock deformation, and the depth of the damage to the rock mass was reduced by 40%-60%after the double primary support method was used.
文摘Based on the theoretical expression of the three-dimension rheologic inclusion model, we analyze in detail the spatio-temporal changes on the ground of the bulk-strain produced by a spherical rheologic inclusion in a semi-infinite rheologic medium. The theoretical results have been used to explain tentatively the stage characteristics of the spatio-temporal change of earthquake precursors.
文摘Some current methods for the calculation of the geogenetic depth are based on the hydrostatic model, it is induced that the depth in certain underground place is equal to the pressure divided by the specific weight of rock, on the assumption that the rock is hydrostatic and overlain by no other force but gravity. If some data on the strain speed are obtained, the depth would be more realistically calculated according to the rheological model because the geological body often experiences long term creep strains.

文摘The dynamic ground subsidence due to underground mining is a complicated time-dependent and rate- dependent process. Based. on the theory of rock rheology and probability integral method, this study developed the superposltlOn model for the prediction and analysis of the ground dynamic subsidence in mining area of thick !oose layer. The agreement of the prediction results with the. field measurements.show that the superposition model (SM) is more satisfactory and the formulae obtained are more effective than the classical single probability Integral model(SPIM), and thus can be effectively used for predicting the ground dynamic subsidence in mining area of thick loose layer.

文摘Given that the current ballasted tracks in Australia may not be able to support faster and significantly heavier freight trains as planned for the future, the imminent need for innovative and sustainable ballasted tracks for transport infrastructure is crucial.Over the past two decades,a number of studies have been conducted by the researchers of Transport Research Centre(TRC)at the University of Technology Sydney(UTS)to investigate the ability of recycled rubber mats,as well as waste tyre cells and granulated rubber to improve the stability of track substructure including ballast and subballast layers. This paper reviews four applications of these novel methods, including using recycled rubber products such as CWRC mixtures(i.e.,mixtures of coal wash(CW)and rubber crumbs(RC))and SEAL mixtures(i.e.,mixtures of steel furnace slag,CW and RC)to replace subballast/capping materials, tyre cells reinforcements for subballast/capping layer and under ballast mats;and investigates the energy dissipation capacity for each application based on smallscale cyclic triaxial tests and large-scale track model tests. It has been found that the inclusion of these rubber products increases the energy dissipation effect of the track, hence reducing the ballast degradation efficiently and increasing the track stability. Moreover,a rheological model is also proposed to investigate the effect of different rubber inclusions on their efficiency to reduce the transient motion of rail track under dynamic loading. The outcomes elucidated in this paper will lead to a better understanding of the performance of ballast tracks upgraded with resilient rubber products, while promoting environmentally sustainable and more affordable ballasted tracks for greater passenger comfort and increased safety.
