BACKGROUND Gynaecologists should be aware of a rare obstructive Mullerian duct abnormality like Robert’s uterus and perform further surgery when necessary.CASE SUMMARY We report a 41-year-old mother of two children w...BACKGROUND Gynaecologists should be aware of a rare obstructive Mullerian duct abnormality like Robert’s uterus and perform further surgery when necessary.CASE SUMMARY We report a 41-year-old mother of two children with Robert’s uterus who was examined and treated by laparoscopy and hysteroscopy.Unlike the existing cases reported in the literature,this patient had a late onset of Robert’s uterus symptoms.Due to right tubal ectopic pregnancy 3 years previously,the patient was treated with right salpingectomy and left tubal ligation but suffered aggravated left lower abdominal pain.She was examined and treated by laparoscopy and hysteroscopy,and is completely asymptomatic at 5-year followup.CONCLUSION The typical obstructive Mullerian abnormality requires further surgery.Combined laparoscopy and hysteroscopy is an effective,minimally invasive technique with better recovery outcomes than traditional transabdominal procedures.展开更多
As an ekphrastic poem re-created from the painting Coronation of the Virgin,“Fra Lippo Lippi”lacks adequate scrutiny from the perspective of interart poetics.With regards to the core concept of ekphrasis,this paper ...As an ekphrastic poem re-created from the painting Coronation of the Virgin,“Fra Lippo Lippi”lacks adequate scrutiny from the perspective of interart poetics.With regards to the core concept of ekphrasis,this paper makes an in-depth analysis of the features and functions of ekphrasis in the poem.The former lie in the poet’s identification with the painter,and his imaginative supplementation in“the verbal representation of visual representation”.The latter are embodied in the revelation of the invisible in the painting,namely,the desires and value of human beings,as well as the power of beauty and truth.Browning enriches the poem with both philosophical and artistic contemplation,thus strongly conveying the thematic implications of“know thyself”and the persistent pursuit of beauty and truth.It is hoped that this study can shed some light on the studies of Robert Browning and the poem itself,and contribute to the development of the interart poetics.展开更多

BACKGROUND Congenital glaucoma associated with Roberts syndrome(RS)is an unusual and unique condition.No previous report describes this association.A multidisciplinary approach including molecular studies were conduct...BACKGROUND Congenital glaucoma associated with Roberts syndrome(RS)is an unusual and unique condition.No previous report describes this association.A multidisciplinary approach including molecular studies were conducted to reach the final diagnosis.CASE SUMMARY We present a rare case of a 1-wk-old male with RS associated with bilateral congenital glaucoma,left ectopic kidney,and left-hand rudimentary digits.A comprehensive approach was applied by which bilateral non-penetrating glaucoma surgery was performed with good control of intraocular pressure for more than 6 mo.Cytogenetic and molecular testing were conducted and revealed normal measurements.CONCLUSION This report described a case of a male baby with clinical features of RS but with a negative molecular analysis,presenting with left-hand rudimentary digits,bilateral congenital glaucoma,and left ectopic kidney.To the best of our knowledge,this is the first case reported with phocomelia,bilateral congenital glaucoma,and unilateral ectopic kidney.展开更多
A ten-month field research study was meticulously conducted at Robert Moses State Park (RMSP) on the south shore of Long Island, NY. The objective was to determine if aerial phenomena of an unknown nature exist over a...A ten-month field research study was meticulously conducted at Robert Moses State Park (RMSP) on the south shore of Long Island, NY. The objective was to determine if aerial phenomena of an unknown nature exist over a coastal location and to characterize their properties and behaviors. Primary and secondary field observation methods were utilized in this data-centric study. Forensic engineering principles and methodologies guided the study. The challenges set forward were object detection, observation, and characterization, where multispectral electro-optical devices and radar were employed due to limited visual acuity and intermittent presentation of the phenomena. The primary means of detection utilized a 3 cm X-band radar operating in two scan geometries, the X- and Y-axis. Multispectral electro-optical devices were utilized as a secondary means of detection and identification. Data was emphasized using HF and LF detectors and spectrum analyzers incorporating EM, ultrasonic, magnetic, and RF field transducers to record spectral data in these domains. Data collection concentrated on characterizing VIS, NIR, SWIR, LWIR, UVA, UVB, UVC, and the higher energy spectral range of ionizing radiation (alpha, beta, gamma, and X-ray) recorded by Geiger-Müller counters as well as special purpose semiconductor diode sensors.展开更多
