BACKGROUND Gynaecologists should be aware of a rare obstructive Mullerian duct abnormality like Robert’s uterus and perform further surgery when necessary.CASE SUMMARY We report a 41-year-old mother of two children w...BACKGROUND Gynaecologists should be aware of a rare obstructive Mullerian duct abnormality like Robert’s uterus and perform further surgery when necessary.CASE SUMMARY We report a 41-year-old mother of two children with Robert’s uterus who was examined and treated by laparoscopy and hysteroscopy.Unlike the existing cases reported in the literature,this patient had a late onset of Robert’s uterus symptoms.Due to right tubal ectopic pregnancy 3 years previously,the patient was treated with right salpingectomy and left tubal ligation but suffered aggravated left lower abdominal pain.She was examined and treated by laparoscopy and hysteroscopy,and is completely asymptomatic at 5-year followup.CONCLUSION The typical obstructive Mullerian abnormality requires further surgery.Combined laparoscopy and hysteroscopy is an effective,minimally invasive technique with better recovery outcomes than traditional transabdominal procedures.展开更多

This article compares two Latin poem dedications which may contain hidden sub-meanings and possible displays of a basic puzzle method called acrostics, each dedicated to the same nobleman. The Latin verse in 1579 by A...This article compares two Latin poem dedications which may contain hidden sub-meanings and possible displays of a basic puzzle method called acrostics, each dedicated to the same nobleman. The Latin verse in 1579 by Anthony Munday follows acrostic English poems and may refer to his patron as ＂a lover of Pallas Athena＂ （the Spear-shaker of Greek mythology）. The Latin verse in Robert Greene＇s 1584 book may contain a Latin acrostic and appears to identify Cupid, the ＂winged Love,＂ as a companion of the same patron as Munday＇s from five years earlier. That Cupid trope appears similar to ＂the little love god＂ allusions to Cupid in several of Shakespeare＇s sonnets （e.g., #s 153 and 154）. More than these discussions, this article explores difficulties of translating from Latin into English, or vice versa, and the pitfalls which can occur.展开更多

In about 1949,there was a large-scale migration of architects from the mainland to Hong Kong,China.Among them were those important figures in the modern Chinese architectural history such as Robert Fan,Su Gin-Djih,and...In about 1949,there was a large-scale migration of architects from the mainland to Hong Kong,China.Among them were those important figures in the modern Chinese architectural history such as Robert Fan,Su Gin-Djih,and Chu Pin.Their arrival at this colony had changed its architectural practice substantially from professional organization to actually built environment.Their unique contributions to Hong Kong’s modern architecture have been a new research interest in recent years.This paper tells a story about Robert Fan and his design of the Chung Chi College campus in the 1950s with an intention to reveal the multiaspects of the so called“migrant architects”through a single architectural event.The author tries to capture the intertwining relationship between the migrant architects and educators through the reconstruction of the recruitment process for a campus architect by Chung Chi College and to identify Mr.Robert Fan’s concept of campus planning with reference to his early design experience in the mainland of China.展开更多
