In order to monitor the working state of piston motor and measure its instantaneous rotation speed accurately, the measuring principle and method of instantaneous rotation speed based on industrial personal computer and data acquisition card are introduced, and the major error source, influence mechanism and processing method of data quantization error are dis- cussed. By means of hybrid programming approach of LabVIEW and MATLAB, the instantaneous rotation speed measurement system for the piston motor in variable speed hydraulic system is designed. The simulation and experimental results show that the designed instantaneous speed measurement system is feasible. Furthermore, the sampling frequency has an important influ- ence on the instantaneous rotation speed measurement of piston motor and higher sampling frequency can lower quantization er- ror and improve measurement accuracy. 展开更多

In order to apply grinding method for degradation of pentachlorophenol(PCP) to an industrial scale, the proportion of different materials[CaO,SiO_2 and CO(NH_2)_2]and the size of grinding balls were examined. For saving energy and increasing dechlorination efficiency, the rotation speed and grinding time were maintained at relatively low values. At a mass ratio of grinding balls to materials(40:1),PCP was added into a big steel jar(300 ml) with other materials to grind at 300 r ·min^(-1)for 5 h.The results indicated that when PCP was mixed with CaO and SiO_2in a molar ratio of 1:60:60,the best dechlorination of 58.4%was achieved.CO(NH_2)_2 could not be used as hydrogen donor in the dehalogenation by mechanochemical reaction, since it restrained the dechlorination process. The size of grinding balls has significant effect on the reaction. The experiment with 5 mm steel balls indicates that the weight is too light to provide appropriate energy for the reaction, while steel balls of 10 and 15 mm could give better dechlorination reaction. It indicates that dechlorination depends on the mass of balls and fill rate. 展开更多

Al-doped ZnO(AZO)thin films were deposited on glass substrates by rf-sputtering at room temperature. The effects of substrate rotation speed(ωS)on the morphological, structural, optical and electrical properties were investigated.SEM transversal images show that the substrate rotation produces dense columnar structures which were found to be better defined under substrate rotation.AFM images show that the surface particles of the samples formed under substrate rotation are smaller and denser than those of a stationary one, leading to smaller grain sizes.XRD results show that all films have hexagonal wurtzite structure and preferred c-axis orientation with a tensile stress along the c-axis.The average optical transmittance was above90%in UV-Vis region. The lowest resistivity value(8.5×10?3Ω·cm)was achieved atωS=0r/min,with a carrier concentration of1.8×1020cm?3,and a Hall mobility of4.19cm2/(V·s).For all other samples, the substrate rotation induced changes in the carrier concentration and Hall mobility which resulted in the increasing of electrical resistivity. These results indicate that the morphology, structure, optical and electrical properties of the AZO thin films are strongly affected by the substrate rotation speed. 展开更多

For the test of rotation speed of high spinning projectile, the general formula of the motional electromotive force (MEMF) of planar magnetic induction coil (PMIC) is derived in case of 3D rotation in a stable magnetic field. Under a reasona-ble assumption, the MEMF of PMIC is simplified after the aforementioned general formula is used to calculate high spinning PMIC in the geomagnetic field environment. The determination approach of half-cycle is discussed and the method of rotation speed test is studied, and a test is conducted in the paper. The rotation speed curve obtained by the approach in this paper is consistent with the curve by telemetry. 展开更多

Two ingots were produced by centrifugal casting at mould rotational speeds of 600 rpm and 800 rpm using 20 vol%SiC p /AlSi9Mg composite melt, respectively. The microstructure along the radial direction of cross-sectional sample of ingots was presented.SiC particles migrated towards the external circumference of the tube, and the distribution of SiC particles became uniform under centrifugal force.Voids in 20 vol%SiC p /AlSi9Mg composite melt migrated towards the inner circumference of the tube. The quantitative analysis results indicated that not only SiC particles but also primaryαphases segregated greatly in centrifugal casting resulting from the transportation behavior of constitutions with different densities in the SiC p /AlSi9Mg composite melt.In addition, the eutectic Si was broken owing to the motion of SiC p /AlSi9Mg composite melt during centrifugal casting. 展开更多

The 42 kg industrial H13 castings were prepared by different super-gravity fields with multi-rotation speeds, and the distribution of oxide inclusions in the castings was studied. In addition, the inward movement Reynolds number and inward movement time of oxide inclusions as well as the solidification time of molten steel at different positions in the castings were calculated to clarify the removal mechanism of oxide inclusions in super-gravity field. The results show that the large size(i.e.,greater than 10μm)oxide inclusions are mainly concentrated in the inner and outer parts of the super-gravity castings with constant rotation speed(500 r min^(-1))and five-stage rotation speeds(500,600,750,850,and 950 r min^(-1)),respectively,while there are no large oxide inclusions in the super-gravity castings with three-stage rotation speeds(500,600,and 750 r min^(-1)).Although an increase in the particle size of inclusion and the rotation speed in super-gravity field is conducive to the increase in the inward movement Reynolds number of oxide inclusions and reduction in the inward movement time of oxide inclusions,it will reduce the local solidification time of molten steel. In the range of the rotation speed studied, the super-gravity field with three-stage rotation speeds has the best effect on the removal of inclusions in H13 molten steel. 展开更多

Additive friction stir deposition(AFSD)is a novel structural repair and manufacturing technology has become a research hotspot at home and abroad in the past five years. In this work, the microstructural evolution and mechanical performance of the Al-Mg-Si alloy plate repaired by the preheating-assisted AFSD process were investigated. To evaluate the tool rotation speed and substrate preheating for repair quality, the AFSD technique was used to additively repair 5 mm depth blind holes on 6061 aluminum alloy substrates. The results showed that preheat-assisted AFSD repair significantly improved joint bonding and joint strength compared to the control non-preheat substrate condition. Moreover, increasing rotation speed was also beneficial to improve the metallurgical bonding of the interface and avoid volume defects.Under preheating conditions, the UTS and elongation were positively correlated with rotation speed.Under the process parameters of preheated substrate and tool rotation speed of 1000 r/min,defect-free specimens could be obtained accompanied by tensile fracture occurring in the substrate rather than the repaired zone. The UTS and elongation reached the maximum values of 164.2MPa and 13.4%,which are equivalent to 99.4%and 140%of the heated substrate, respectively. 展开更多

Recent research in cross-domain intelligence fault diagnosis of machinery still has some problems, such as relatively ideal speed conditions and sample conditions. In engineering practice, the rotational speed of the machine is often transient and time-varying,which makes the sample annotation increasingly expensive.Meanwhile, the number of samples collected from different health states is often unbalanced. To deal with the above challenges,a complementary-label(CL)adversarial domain adaptation fault diagnosis network(CLADAN)is proposed under time-varying rotational speed and weakly-supervised conditions. In the weakly supervised learning condition, machine prior information is used for sample annotation via cost-friendly complementary label learning.A diagnosticmodel learning strategywith discretized category probabilities is designed to avoidmulti-peak distribution of prediction results. In adversarial training process,we developed virtual adversarial regularization(VAR)strategy, which further enhances the robustness of the model by adding adversarial perturbations in the target domain.Comparative experiments on two case studies validated the superior performance of the proposed method. 展开更多

This paper presents a study on measuring rotation speed of moving glass beads with an average diameter of 500 p.m in a pilot-scale circulating fluidized bed (CFB) riser with a high-speed digital imaging system. Two methods have been developed to calculate particle rotation speed from the particle images. The first method consists of a fully automated algorithm based on cross-correlation of gray distribution of particle images for particles whose rotation axes are (nearly) perpendicular to the imaging plane, and the second method calculates the speed of particle rotation by identifying its rotation axis using two or more characteristic points on its surface. The reliability of the two methods is verified by using a small sphere with known speed and direction of rotation. The first method is shown to be capable of measuring accurately the rotation speed for the particle with a rotation axis (nearly) perpendicular to the imaging plane and filtering off other particles using an appropriate threshold of correlation coefficient. The second method is shown to be capable of yielding both the speed and direction of particle rotation, with a measurement error of less than 10%. Results of both methods on real glass beads in a CFB riser are compared against each other. 展开更多

In this study, 5052 steel were joined by a new way aluminum alloy and Q235 of arc milling brazing, with the Zn15%A1 filler metal and no use of flux. Effect of rotation speed on mechanical properties and microstructure of joint interface was investigated. The results show that increasing rotation speed is in favor of formation of weld and spread of filler metal on substrate. The fine grain with homogeneous composition in brazed seam can be realized by the stronger stirring in pool induced by milling at more higher rotation speed. And, a composite joint reinforced with needle-like or block-like Fe-A1-Zn intermetallic compounds (IMCs) particle can be obtained by arc milling brazing, which comes from the reaction between steel scrape and Zn-A1 filler alloy. The test on strength of joint interface shows that with the increase in rotation speed, there is a peak value in variation ranges of strength of joint interface. This is to say, when rotation speed is 2720 r.min-~, the strength of joint has maximum value (182.01 MPa). Moreover, a thin and discontinuous IMCs layer at joint interface can be obtained by increasing rotation speed. But at a low or high rotation speed, there also is a crack at joint interface, which weakens the strength of joint interface. Only at 2720 r.min-1, a good joint interface without an obvious crack can be realized. 展开更多

Low-speed rotation of disc in an internal circulation of a novel de-emulsification with rotation-dise horizental contactor(RHC-D) realized de-emulsification for O/W emulsions due to repeated coalescence in oil-wet narrow channels at a low rotation speed. For three emulsions included ethanol/water/2-ethyl-1-hexanol, ethanol/water/2-ethyl-1-hexanol/SDS(Sodium Dodecyl Sulfonate) and 2-ethyl-1-hexanol/water/SDS emulsion, deemulsification ratios of oil phase could reach 1, 1 and 0.67 respectively at 170 r·min-1, and de-emulsification ratios increased obviously after agitating 10 min. De-emulsification experiment in the seam indicated that oil droplet sizes in O/W emulsion became larger after de-emulsification. The main de-emulsification mechanism in RHCD was the coalescence of oil droplets in oil-wet narrow channels. With increase of the rotation speed, oil droplets dispersed better in the aqueous phase. However, de-emulsification effect enhanced due to the increase of the coalescence rate at a bit higher rotation speed. In addition, internal circulation made those O/W emulsions to be broken repeatedly, consequently de-emulsification ratio increased. Repeated de-emulsification through internal circulation might make continuous extraction of ethanol come true at a low rotation speed. 展开更多

In order to address the issues of traditional resampling algorithms involving computational accuracy and efficiency in rolling element bearing fault diagnosis, an equal division impulse-based(EDI-based) resampling algorithm is proposed. First, the time marks of every rising edge of the rotating speed pulse and the corresponding amplitudes of faulty bearing vibration signal are determined. Then, every adjacent the rotating pulse is divided equally, and the time marks in every adjacent rotating speed pulses and the corresponding amplitudes of vibration signal are obtained by the interpolation algorithm. Finally, all the time marks and the corresponding amplitudes of vibration signal are arranged and the time marks are transformed into the angle domain to obtain the resampling signal. Speed-up and speed-down faulty bearing signals are employed to verify the validity of the proposed method, and experimental results show that the proposed method is effective for diagnosing faulty bearings. Furthermore, the traditional order tracking techniques are applied to the experimental bearing signals, and the results show that the proposed method produces higher accurate outcomes in less computation time. 展开更多

The particle mixing was studied in a cylindrical stirred tank with elliptical dished bottom by experiments and simulations. The impeller types used were double helical ribbon(HR) + bottom HR,pitched blade ribbon + bottom HR,inner and outer HR + bottom HR,and pitched blade ribbon + Pfaudler + bottom HR labeled as impellers Ⅰ to Ⅳ,respectively. The quantitative correlations among the rotational speed, fill level and power consumption for impeller Ⅰ and impeller Ⅱ were obtained by experiments to validate the discrete element method(DEM) simulations. The particle mixing at different operating conditions was simulated via DEM simulations to calculate the mixing index using the Lacey method, which is a statistical method to provide a mathematical understanding of the mixing state in a binary mixture. The simulation results reveal that as the rotational speed increases, the final mixing index increases, and as the fill level increases, the final mixing index decreases. At the same operating conditions, impeller Ⅲ is the optimal combination, which provides the highest mixing index at the same revolutions. 展开更多

An attempt was made to synthesize Cu/B4C surface composite using friction stir processing(FSP) and to analyze the influence of tool rotational speed on microstructure and sliding wear behavior of the composite. The tool rotational speed was varied from 800 to 1200 r/min in step of 200 r/min. The traverse speed, axial force, groove width and tool pin profile were kept constant. Optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy were used to study the microstructure of the fabricated surface composites. The sliding wear behavior was evaluated using a pin-on-disc apparatus. The results indicate that the tool rotational speed significantly influences the area of the surface composite and the distribution of B4C particles. Higher rotational speed exhibits homogenous distribution of B4C particles, while lower rotational speed causes poor distribution of B4C particles in the surface composite. The effects of tool rotational speed on the grain size, microhardness, wear rate, worn surface and wear debris were reported. 展开更多

By discretizing the convection terms with AUSM+-up scheme in the rotating coordinate system,a finite volume analysis code based on multi-block structured grids was developed independently so as to realize the numerical solving of internal flow fields of turbomachineries.Taking an unshrouded radial impeller with the working fluid of water vapour as the research object, the flow response to the fluctuation of rotational speed was calculated.By comparing the surface pressure profiles and velocity contours calculated by the code and commercial software respectively, the accuracy of flow solver was verified. The analysis of flow response data indicates that,as the working condition shifts closer towards the surge boundary, the response of flow parameters such as mass flow and aerodynamic torque will be more nonsynchronous with the fluctuation of rotational speed, and also the influence of density variation on mass flow variation will be smaller. Moreover, the transient variation region of working condition performance will deviate farther away from the steady performance curve as the working condition approaches the surge boundary.Compared to the working conditions with small mass flows, the distribution characteristics of pressure difference load on the blade surface vary little under large mass flow conditions. The reduction of fluctuation amplitude of rotational speed exerts no influence on abating the hysteresis of flow response. 展开更多

Traditional dynamic stability analyses of the rolling projectiles are mainly based on solving the systems' transfer functions or angular motion' s homogeneous equations to obtain their charac- teristic roots. The solving processes of these methods are complex and lacking further analysis of the results. To solve this problem, Routh stability criterion is introduced to determine the stability of rolling missiles based on the transfer function model, and an important advantage of this method is that it is unnecessary to solve the system' s characteristic equation. Rotational speed ranges satisfy- ing the dynamic stability of rolling projectiles with four different characteristics are acquired, and the correctness of analysis results is verified by computing the system' s root locus. The analysis results show that the relation between stability and rotational speed for static stable missiles is opposite to that for spin-stabilized projectiles, and the relative size of gyroscopic effect and Magnus effect has an extremely important influence on the trend of the stability of the system with increasing rotational speed. 展开更多

In this work the influence of the density of the molten metal on the emergence of the raining phenomenon in the horizontal centrifugal casting process is numerically studied. Transient 2D numerical simulations were carried out using Computational Fluid Dynamics software. Three molten metals with different density, namely aluminum, iron and lead, and three angular frequencies, namely 50, 66 and 77 rad/s were considered. It is found that the density of the molten metal significantly affects the emergence, transient or permanent, of the rain phenomenon. However, the magnitude and duration of the rain phenomenon depend on the angular frequency of the rotating mold. Likewise, since gravitational forces affect the metal according to its density, the value of the critical rotation speed of the mold is also affected. 展开更多

Cavitation is a common issue in pumps, causing a decrease in pump head,a fall in volumetric efficiency, and an intensification of outlet flow pulsation. It is one of the main hazards that affect the regular operation of the pump.Research on pump cavitation mainly focuses on mixed flow pumps, jet pumps, external spur gear pumps, etc. However, there are few cavitation studies on external herringbone gear pumps. In addition, pumps with different working principles significantly differ in the flow and complexity of the internal flow field. Therefore,it is urgent to study the cavitation characteristics of external herringbone gear pumps.Compared with experimentalmethods, visual research and cavitation area identification are achieved through computation fluid dynamic(CFD),and changing the boundary conditions and shape of the gear rotor is easier. The simulation yields a head error of only 0.003%under different grid numbers, and the deviation between experimental and simulation results is less than 5%.The study revealed that cavitation causes flow pulsation at the outlet, and the cavitation serious area is mainly distributed in the meshing gap and meshing area.Cavitation can be inhibited by reducing the speed, increasing the inlet pressure, and changing the helix angle can be achieved. For example, when the inlet pressure is 5 bar,the maximumgas volume fraction in themeshing area is less than 50%.These results provide a reference for optimizing the design and finding the optimal design parameters to reduce or eliminate cavitation. 展开更多
