Effects of acidity and mesoporosity development in ZSM-5 on biomass-derived ethylene oligomerization for liquid fuel synthesis

The acidities of different Si O2/Al2O3 ratio ZSM-5 zeolites, CBV3024 E, CBV5524 G and CBV8014 were investigated with temperature-programmed desorption of ammonia and diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy, and their catalytic performances were evaluated to screen the optimal CBV8014 catalyst for ethylene oligomerization. The mesoporosity development in CBV8014 zeolite was conducted by desilication in alkaline medium. The porous characteristics, structural properties and acidic properties of parent and alkali-treated CBV8014 zeolites were studied, and their catalytic performances were evaluated, indicating that CBV8014 treated by 0.2 mol/L NaO H solution has an appropriate mesoporosity development, well preservation of catalyst acidity and crystallinity, good catalytic activity and stability, and high liquid fuel yield for ethylene oligomerization. The effect of reaction pressure on ethylene oligomerization over 0.2HZ catalyst was also investigated, and JP-8 likely hydrocarbon jet fuel was obtained by using 0.2HZ catalyst at 0.344 75 MPa with a high catalyst stability and high liquid yield. 展开更多

The mu oil tree(Vernicia montana Lour.) is a dioecious species, but the genetic mechanisms underlying its phenotypic sexual dimorphism are unclear. In this study, we determined two pivotal phases of sex differentiation of mu oil tree via morphological and histological analyses of unisexual flowers:(Ⅰ) differentiation of male or female primordia to produce staminate flowers(SFs) or transient hermaphrodite flowers(HFs),and(Ⅱ) complete abortion of stamens in transient HFs to generate pistillate flowers(PFs). A total of 1621 sex-biased genes were identified by comparative transcriptome analysis which exhibited elevated rates of protein evolution than unbiased genes. The female-biased genes were enriched in the production of defense compounds while male-biased genes were focused on the production of viable pollens. Transcriptomebased analysis revealed that the differentially expressed genes(DEGs) between PFs and SFs in phase Ⅰ involved in abscisic acid(ABA), auxin(AUX), cytokinin(CK), ethylene(ET), and gibberellin(GA) biosynthesis and signaling showed higher expression levels in males than in females in general, whereas the DEGs involved in jasmonic acid(JA) and salicylic acid(SA) pathways displayed opposite expression patterns. Moreover,differentially expressed endogenous ABA, AUX, GAs, JA, and SA exhibited consistent biased expression patterns with the DEGs by UPLC-MSbased analysis. Exogenous application of an anti-ethylene plant growth regulator could promote the development of stamens in PFs and generated HFs. Comparative transcriptomic and hormonal analyses of PFs and SFs in phase Ⅱ indicated an increase in ET concentration when abortion of stamens in PFs occurred. This study suggested that phytohormones play key roles in sex dimorphism and ET may determine the development of stamens in PFs of mu oil tree, which provides an insight into plant sex differentiation mechanisms. 展开更多

Carotenoids, a class of natural pigments found in all photosynthetic organisms, are involved in a variety of physiological processes, including coloration, photoprotection, biosynthesis of abscisic acid (ABA) and chloroplast biogenesis. Although carotenoid biosynthesis has been well studied biochemically, the genetic basis of the pathway is not well understood. Here, we report the characterization of two allelic Arabidopsis mutants, spontaneous cell death1-1 (spcl-1) and spc1-2. The weak allele spc1-1 mutant showed characteristics of bleached leaves, accumulation of superoxide and mosaic cell death. The strong mutant allele spc1-2 caused a complete arrest of plant growth and development shortly after germination, leading to a seedling-lethal phenotype. Genetic and molecular analyses indicated that SPC1 encodes a putative ζ-carotene desaturase (ZDS) in the carotenoid biosynthesis pathway. Analysis of carotenoids revealed that several major carotenoid compounds downstream of SPC 1/ZDS were substantially reduced in spc1-1, suggesting that SPC 1 is a functional ZDS. Consistent with the downregulated expression of CAO and PORB, the chlorophyll content was decreased in spc1-1 plants. In addition, expression of Lhcb1. 1, Lhcbl. 4 and RbcS was absent in spc1-2, suggesting the possible involvement of carotenoids in the plastid-to-nucleus retrograde signaling. The spc1-1 mutant also displays an ABA-deficient phenotype that can be partially rescued by the externally supplied phytohormone. These results suggest that SPC1/ZDS is essential for biosynthesis of carotenoids and plays a crucial role in plant growth and development. 展开更多

Ethylene regulates multiple physiological processes in cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) ranging from square and boll abscission to senescence. This field study investigated the effect of an ethylene inhibiting compound 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) on boll development and the corresponding subtending leaves. The study was conducted in 2011 and 2012 at the Texas A & M Agri-LIFE Research Farm in Burleson County, TX. The study consisted of two rates of 1-MCP (0 and 10 g a.i. ha-1) applied at one and two weeks after first flower. Boll development and subtending leaves were studied on the tagged flowers during the growing season. 1-MCP treatment increased cotton boll weight at 20 days after flowering. This study showed that 1-MCP-treated subtending leaves exhibited decreased membrane damage and lipid peroxidation, and higher chlorophyll content and photosynthetic efficiency at 20 to 30 days after flowering. The healthier state of subtending leaves should have provided more carbohydrates for the fruits which could partially explain the reason for the increased boll weight. However, this beneficial effect of 1-MCP did not last to the end of the growing season and failed to result in a yield increase ultimately. Multiple applications or extending effective duration of 1-MCP is desirable to enhance the activity of 1-MCP to make a significant difference in cotton yield. 展开更多

Loss-of-function ethylene insensitive 2 (EIN2) mutations showed ethylene insensitivity in Arabidopsis, which indicated an essential role of EIN2 in ethylene signaling. However, the function of EIN2 in fruit ripening has not been investigated. To gain a better understanding of EIN2, the temporal regulation of LeEIN2 expres- sion during tomato fruit development was analyzed. The expression of LeEIN2 was constant at different stages of fruit development, and was not regulated by ethylene. Moreover, LeEIN2-silenced tomato fruits were developed using a virus-induced gene silencing fruit system to study the role of LeEIN2 in tomato fruit ripening. Silenced fruits had a delay in fruit development and ripening, related to greatly descended expression of ethylene-related and ripening-related genes in comparison with those of control fruits. These results suggested LeEIN2 positively mediated ethylene signals during tomato development. In addition, there were fewer seeds and Iocules in the silenced fruit than those in the control fruit, like the phenotype of parthenocarpic tomato fruit. The content of auxin and the expression of auxin-regulated gene were declined in silenced fruit, which indicated that EIN2 might be important for crosstalk between ethylene and auxin hormones. 展开更多

Three independent ethylene insensitive mutants were selected from an EMS- mutagenized population of Lotus japonicus MG-20 (Miyakojima). The mutants, called 'Enigma', were mutated in the LjEIN2a gene from Lotus chromosome 1, sharing significant homology with Arabidopsis EIN2 (ethylene-insensitive2). All three alleles showed classical ethylene insensitivity phenotypes (e.g., Triple Response), but lacked the increased nodulation phenotype commonly associated with ethylene insensitivity. Indeed, all showed a marginal reduction in nodule number per plant, a phenotype that is enigmatic to sickle, an ethylene- insensitive EIN2 mutant in Medicago truncatula. In contrast to wild type, but similar to an ETRI-1 ethylene ethylene-insensitive transgenic of L. japonicus, enigma mutants formed nodules in between the protoxylem poles, demonstrating the influence of ethylene on radial positioning. Suppression of nodule numbers by nitrate and colonisation by mycorrhizal fungi in the enigma-1 mutant were indistin- guishable from the wild-type MG-20. However, reflecting endogenous ethylene feedback, the enigma-1 mutant released more than twice the wild-type amount of ethylene, enigma-1 had a moderate reduction in growth, greater root mass (and lateral root formation), delayed flowering and ripening, smaller pods and seeds. Expression analysis of ethylene-regulated genes, such as ETR1, NRL1 (neverripe-like 1), and ElL3 in shoots and roots of enigma-1 and MG-20 illustrated that the ethylene-insensitive mutation strongly affected transcriptional responses in the root. These mutants open the possibility that EIN2 in L. japonicus, a determinate nodulating legume, acts in a more complex fashion possibly through the presence of a duplicated copy of LjEIN2. 展开更多

Cytokinins and ethylene control plant development via sensors from the histidine kinase(HK)family.However,downstream signaling pathways for the key phytohormones are distinct.Here we report that not only cytokinin but also ethylene is able to control root apical meristem(RAM)size through activation of the multistep phosphorelay(MSP)pathway.We found that both cytokinin and ethylene-dependent RAM shortening requires ethylene binding to ETR1 and the HK activity of ETR1.The receiver domain of ETR1 interacts with MSP signaling intermediates acting downstream of cytokinin receptors,further substantiating the role of ETR1 in MSP signaling.We revealed that both cytokinin and ethylene induce the MSP in similar and distinct cell types with ETR1-mediated ethylene signaling controlling MSP output specifically in the root transition zone.We identified members of the MSP pathway specific and common to both hormones and showed that ETR1-regulated ARR3 controls RAM size.ETR1-mediated MSP spatially differs from canonical CTR1/EIN2/EIN3 ethylene signaling and is independent of EIN2,indicating that both pathways can be spatially and functionally separated.Furthermore,we demonstrated that canonical ethylene signaling controls MSP responsiveness to cytokinin specifically in the root transition zone,presumably via regulation of ARR10,one of the positive regulators of MSP signaling in Arabidopsis. 展开更多

果实发育是决定葡萄产量和质量的关键时期,WRKY家族转录因子在调节植物生长发育和环境适应过程中发挥重要作用。乙烯是调控果实发育的重要植物激素,ACC合成酶是调节乙烯合成的关键酶。为研究葡萄WRKY家族转录因子VvWRKY13在果实发育过... 果实发育是决定葡萄产量和质量的关键时期,WRKY家族转录因子在调节植物生长发育和环境适应过程中发挥重要作用。乙烯是调控果实发育的重要植物激素,ACC合成酶是调节乙烯合成的关键酶。为研究葡萄WRKY家族转录因子VvWRKY13在果实发育过程中的作用及其与乙烯之间的作用关系,以葡萄品种左优红、VvWRKY13过表达葡萄愈伤组织以及转VvWRKY13番茄株系为材料,利用植物生理生化方法及分子生物学技术进行研究。结果表明,在葡萄果实发育早期VvWRKY13、ACC合成酶基因VvACS2和VvACS7表达量均显著上调;VvWRKY13过表达葡萄愈伤组织中VvACS7表达量显著高于对照,VvACS2与对照差异不显著;酵母单杂交试验证明,VvWRKY13可与VvACS7启动子直接结合,与VvACS2无直接作用。同时,异源过表达VvWRKY13番茄中乙烯含量与合成酶基因ACS家族一些成员,如SlACS1b、SlACS4和SlACS6,表达量显著高于野生型,番茄开花—果实转色的时间比野生型缩短3~6 d。以上结果表明,VvWRKY13能够通过促进ACC合成酶基因表达调控乙烯合成,进而促进果实发育。 展开更多

综述了蒸汽裂解制乙烯的反应机制、裂解原料及工艺流程。介绍了国内外关键的蒸汽裂解制乙烯技术的开发历程。并在此基础上,对SRT-VI、USC-U、Pyrocrack1-1、GK-V及CBL-1这5种具有代表性的蒸汽裂解制乙烯工艺,并在裂解炉性能、裂解原料... 综述了蒸汽裂解制乙烯的反应机制、裂解原料及工艺流程。介绍了国内外关键的蒸汽裂解制乙烯技术的开发历程。并在此基础上,对SRT-VI、USC-U、Pyrocrack1-1、GK-V及CBL-1这5种具有代表性的蒸汽裂解制乙烯工艺,并在裂解炉性能、裂解原料、裂解温度、供热/急冷方式、反应停留时间、运行周期及乙烯收率等方面展开详细论述。通过不同生产工艺自身特点的对比分析,提出在“双碳”目标的制约下,企业应不断开发和选择适合自身的新型蒸汽裂解制乙烯工艺,以促进我国乙烯产业向着“大型化、炼化一体化、集约化”的方向健康发展。 展开更多
