The role of nutraceuticals and functional foods in this area has a significant place due to the adverse effects of contemporary modes of treatment. CurCousin® is a nutritional ingredient containing bioactive Calebin A, (analog of Curcumin) with self-affirmed GRAS status. CurCousin® has been a clinically studied dietary supplement ingredient with a positive impact on body weight, lipid levels and metabolic health. Bioenhancers play an important role in increasing the bioavailability of the active in turn enhancing efficacy as well as reducing the dosage required to achieve the therapeutic effect. This study investigated the possible pharmacokinetic interaction between CurCousin® at two different doses (2.25 and 4.5 mg/kg) in the presence and absence of BioPerine® (0.27 mg/kg), a natural bioenhancer in Sprague-Dawley rats. The results revealed that the addition of BioPerine® into CurCousin® (2.25 mg/kg) half the dose when administered enhances the bioavailability and was equipotent to CurCousin® (4.5 mg/kg) double the dose without BioPerine®. Thus, leading to future clinical studies to evaluate its improved pharmacological efficacy as well as reduced therapeutic dosage.展开更多

By specifically combining 18F-FES with ER, 18F-FES PET/CT imaging uses standard uptake value(SUV) to semi-quantitatively reflect the distribution of ER and its biological activity in patients, and assesses the expression of ER in breast cancer patients about primary and metastases before or after treatment, to provide a basis for personalized treatment of breast cancer. In this review, we will review the imaging principles of a new ER detection method 18F-FES PET/CT, and the research progress in the clinical application of breast cancer, and compare its diagnostic and treatment value with non-specific tumor imaging 18F-FDG PET/CT in breast cancer.展开更多

The isolated Lentinus squarrosulus AF5 was assessed for decolourization of textile azo dyes, and had shown ~93%, 88% and 70% decolorization of Reactive blue 160 (RB160), Reactive black 5 (RB5) and Amido black 10B (AB10B) respectively. Further analysis using UV-vis, HPLC, and FTIR, 1H NMR had shown the degradation of the dyes. Toxicity analysis of the metabolites was performed using seed germination and plant growth on two agriculturally important plants Guar (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba) and wheat (Triticum aestivum) as well as cytotoxicity analysis using the human keratinocyte cell line (HaCaT). The dye mix appeared inhibitory for seed germination (20% - 40%), whereas metabolites were non-inhibitory for germination. Treatment of HaCaT cells with of dye mix and metabolites led into 45% and ~100% of cell viability of HaCaT cells respectively. Therefore, metabolites following degradation of the dye mix were observed to be non-toxic.展开更多

The identification of novel prognostic and pathogenesis biomarkers plays a key role in disease management. Methods: The GSE145854 and GSE164494 datasets were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database and used for screening and validating hypertension signature genes, respectively. Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment analysis was performed on the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) related to calcium ion metabolism in patients with hypertension. The core genes related to immune infiltration were analyzed and screened, and the activity of the signature genes and related pathways was quantified using gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA). The infiltration of immune cells in the blood samples was analyzed, and the DEGs that were abnormally expressed in the clinical blood samples of patients with hypertension were verified via RT-qPCR. Results: A total of 176 DEGs were screened. GO showed that DEGs was involved in the regulation of calcium ion metabolism in biological processes (BP), actin mediated cell contraction, negative regulation of cell movement, and calcium ion transmembrane transport, and in the regulation of protease activity in molecular functions (MF). KEGG analysis revealed that the DEGs were involved mainly in the cGMP-PKG signaling pathway, ubiquitin-protein transferase, tight junction-associated proteins, and the regulation of myocardial cells. MF analysis revealed the immune infiltration function of the cells. RT-qPCR revealed that the expression of Cacna1d, Serpine1, Slc8a3, and Trpc4 was up regulated in hypertension, the expression of Myoz2 and Slc25a23 was down regulated. Conclusion: Cacna1d, Serpine1, Slc8a3, Trpc4, Myoz2 and Slc25a23 may be involved in the regulation of calcium metabolism pathways and play key roles in hypertension. These differentially expressed calcium metabolism-related genes may serve as prognostic markers of hypertension.展开更多
