Food safety controls in different governance structures in China's vegetable and fruit industry 被引量:12

Food safety issues constitute an international topic discussed by many scholars. Although there is an extensive body of literature on comparisons of food safety control practices across different governance structures, these studies have been conducted mainly in terms of qualitative and descriptive analysis. In addition, little attention has been given to family farms. This study addresses the food safety control practices adopted by firms with different governance structures in China. Food safety control is expressed by the following aspects, i.e., pollution-free, green, organic, and/or geographical indication prod- ucts certification, establishment of production records, and pesticide residue testing. Three types of governance structures that engage in agricultural production are distinguished: farmer cooperatives, agricultural companies, and family farms. The food safety control practices of various governance structures are investigated based on a database that comprises 600 vegetable and fruit enterprises in Zhejiang, China. The results show that (1) pesticide residue testing is adopted by the most firms, followed by products certification, and production records are adopted by the fewest firms, and (2) agricul- tural companies adopt more food safety control practices than family farms, while farmer cooperatives adopt the fewest food safety control practices. Governance structure features of a cooperative in terms of ownership, decision-making, and income distribution are the main reasons for the low level of food safety control in the cooperative. 展开更多

Various kinds of pathogenic bacteria derived from the intestinal tract of animals exist in compost material like cow dung. In order to sterilize the pathogenic bacteria completely in compost material, the cow dung was put into a heat treatment machine in pilot plan, and harmless condition in short time was examined. The results indicated, pathogenic indicator bacteria such as coliform bacteria, fecal coliform, Escherichia coli and salmonella were all 106 cfu/g dw at the beginning, died rapidly when cow dung temperature rose to above 50~C, and not detected at 54-68~C for 6-24 h heat treatment. Coliform bacteria and salmonella in heated cow dung were not detected by re-growth culture and enrichment culture examination. Moreover, it was hardly influenced on the fermentation ability of composting microbe, organic decomposition bacteria. During heat treatment, the mesophile decreased rapidly and the thermophile stabilized or increased, and the most of composting microbe were bacillus in cow dung by fluorescence microscope, this indicated that bacillus was dominator and composting microbe in composting process. 展开更多

On a narrow warship platform,the coordinated use of shipborne weapon systems may cause firepower conflicts,which seriously endangers the ship safety.Meanwhile,with directed-energy weapons mounted on ships,firepower conflicts between weapons become a“high probability event”.Aiming at the problem of firepower safety control,based on the research about the collision probability model of air crafts and space targets and according to the cone of fire model of conventional weapons and directed-energy weapons,this paper solved the firepower conflict probabilities between conventional weapons as well as between conventional weapons and directed-energy weapons respectively using the methods of probability theory,and established the firepower safety control model.Then the calculation of firepower conflict probability was carried out using the dimensionality reduction method based on the equivalent conversion of polar coordinates and the power series method based on Laplace transform.The simulation results revealed that the proposed model and calculation methods are effective and reliable,which can provide theoretical basis and technical support for resolution of firepower conflicts between weapons. 展开更多

In the process of blasting excavation, stress wave propagation and gas expansion can basically induce damage to surrounding rocks, which is detrimental to rock mass integrity and engineering safety. In this case, evaluation and control of blast-induced effects are essential to the safety of nearby buildings and integrity of bedrock in blasting field. In Fangchenggang nuclear power station of China, the drill-and- blast method was employed for bedrock excavation. In order to reduce the blast-induced damage zone, the wave propagation and associated damage to rock mass should be carefully investigated. In this paper, the wave propagation regressively obtained from field monitoring data was presented based on empirical formula (e.g. Sadovsloj formula). The relationship between the peak particle velocity (PPV) at a distance of 30 m away from the charge hole and charge per delay in blast design was derived. Meanwhile, the acoustic tests before and after blasting were conducted to determine the damage depth of rock mass. The charge per delay in blast design was then calibrated based on the blast-induced wave propagation regularity. The results showed that a satisfactory effect was achieved on blast-induced damage control of rock mass. This could be helpful to rock damage control in similar blasting projects. 展开更多

[Objective]The paper was to explore application of nativo in control against cucumber powdery mildew.[Method]Taking "Zhenghuang 3" cucumber as the material,the effects of nativo on growth of cucumber at different periods were studied by soaking seeds and spraying treatment on stems and leaves.The field efficacy trial against powdery mildew was also carried out to comprehensively evaluate control effect of nativo against powdery mildew.[Result]Seed soaking by nativo had good preventive effect on powdery mildew,while plant height,root length and increase rate of stem diameter were significantly lower than that of hexaconazole.Rates of plant height inhibition were 15.62% and 4.65% at seedling and flowering stage after spraying 60mg/L of nativo,respectively, which were significantly lower than that of hexaconazole.The control efficacies of nativo were 73.82%-84.26% in field trial,which was as good as that of hexaconazole but higher than that of Topsin-M.[Conclusion]Nativo is safe to growth of cucumber,with good control effect on powdery mildew.It can be used as an alternative fungicide to control cucumber powdery. 展开更多

The rapid development of the anti-missile weapon technology brings new challenges to the cooperative penetration strategy solution and the guidance law design for Hypersonic Vehicles(HVs).This paper studies the coordinated game penetration guidance problem for multiple hypersonic vehicles faced with space threat areas.A scheme for seeking cooperative game penetration guidance strategy under safety critical control framework is presented.In this scheme,a multiHV cooperative game model is proposed in a minimum optimization form which can simplify the solving process and accelerate the computing speed.Then,a second-order control barrier function is developed to transform the implicit nonlinear constraints of the proposed model into linear ones.In order to obtain better performance of guidance strategy,a composite guidance law under the safety critical control framework is presented to allocate guidance strategies appropriately in the whole process.It is shown that the proposed scheme can guarantee successful penetration while avoiding threat areas.Finally,a comparative simulation with a two-on-three game is conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

Our proposal here is to automatically monitor the moving objects by image sensing/recognition method, such that the machine system can get enough information about the environment situation and about the production progress at any time, and therefore the machines can accordingly take some corresponding actions automatically to avoid hazard. For this purpose, two types of monitor systems are proposed. The first type is based on the omni directional vision sensor, and the second is based on the stereo vision sensor. Each type may be used alone or together with another type, depending on the safety system's requirements and the specific situation of the manufacture field to be monitored. The aim of this paper is to investigate the effect of vehicle dynamics control systems (VDCS) on both the collision of the vehicle body and the kinematic behaviour of the ve- hicle's occupant in case of offset frontal vehicle-to-vehicle collision. A unique 6-degree-of- freedom (6-DOF) vehicle dynamics/crash mathematical model and a simplified lumped mass occupant model are developed. The first model is used to define the vehicle body crash parameters and it integrates a vehicle dynamics model with a vehicle front-end structure model. The second model aims to predict the effect of VDCS on the kinematics of the occupant. It is shown from the numerical simulations that the vehicle dynamics/crash response and occupant behaviour can be captured and analysed quickly and accurately. Yurthermore, it is shown that the VDCS can affect the crash characteristics positively and the occupant behaviour is improved. 展开更多

Thailand has continuously established biosafety and security laws since 1932.The present law,the Pathogens and Animal Toxins Act 2015,was established for the controlled production,possession,sales,import,export,and transit of pathogens and animal toxins.The law is in accordance with the current world situation—that is,outbreaks of emerging and re-emerging diseases and the development of modern biotechnology,such as genetic modification of pathogens with the potential for beneficial or harmful use.The principles of the pathogen control measures of Thai law are similar to those of foreign laws in countries such as Canada,the United States,Singapore,and the People’s Republic of China.Control measures are based on the risk levels of pathogens to humans,animals,and the environment.This review briefly presents details of the law’s development in Thailand.Details are given in comparison with those of other countries;the export and import of pathogens and animal toxins according to EU export controls are also discussed.The practice and experience of applying the law in Thailand are also presented.Dissemination of enforcement details will ensure effective legal biosafety and biosecurity control measures in Thailand.This may be useful for establishing a law involving regulatory controls for biosafety and biosecurity. 展开更多
