Genomic regions and pathways associated with gastrointestinal parasites resistance in Santa Inês breed adapted to tropical climate

Background: The aim of this study was to estimate variance components and to identify genomic regions and pathways associated with resistance to gastrointestinal parasites, particularly Haemonchus contortus, in a breed of sheep adapted to tropical climate. Phenotypes evaluations were performed to verify resistance to gastrointestinal parasites, and were divided into two categories: i) farm phenotypes, assessing body condition score(BCS), degree of anemia assessed by the famacha chart(FAM), fur score(FS) and feces consistency(FC); and ii) lab phenotypes,comprising blood analyses for hematocrit(HCT), white blood cell count(WBC), red blood cell count(RBC),hemoglobin(HGB), platelets(PLT) and transformed(log10) egg per gram of feces(EPG_(log)). A total of 576 animals were genotyped with the Ovine SNP12k Bead Chip(Illumina, Inc.), that contains 12,785 bialleleic SNP markers. The variance components were estimated using a single trait model by single step genomic BLUP procedure.Results: The overall linkage disequilibrium(LD) mean between pairs of markers measured by r2 was 0.23. The overall LD mean between markers considering windows up to 10 Mb was 0.07. The mean LD between adjacent SNPs across autosomes ranged from 0.02 to 0.10. Heritability estimates were low for EPG_(log)(0.11), moderate for RBC(0.18), PLT(0.17) HCT(0.20), HGB(0.16) and WBC(0.22), and high for FAM(0.35). A total of 22, 21, 23, 20, 26, 25 and 23 windows for EPG_(log)for FAM, WBC, RBC, PLT, HCT and HGB traits were identified, respectively. Among the associated windows, 10 were shown to be common to HCT and HGB traits on OAR1, OAR2, OAR3, OAR5, OAR8 and OAR15.Conclusion: The traits indicating gastrointestinal parasites resistance presented an adequate genetic variability to respond to selection in Santa Inês breed, and it is expected a higher genetic gain for FAM trait when compared to the others. The level of LD estimated for markers separated by less than 1 Mb indicated that the Ovine SNP12k Bead Chip might be a suitable tool for identifying genomic regions associated with traits related to gastrointestinal parasite resistance. Several candidate genes related to immune system development and activation, inflammatory response,regulation of lymphocytes and leukocytes proliferation were found. These genes may help in the selection of animals with higher resistance to parasites. 展开更多

It passed the identification by Jiangsu Provincial Crop Variety Appraisal Committee in 2013. Crossing the Yan 161S with Yanhui 888, a new high-yielding and high-quality two-line hybrid rice combination Yanliangyou 1618 was developed, and it passed the variety identification in 2014. In order to reduce the use of peat resources and realize the sustainable development of tobacco, the pH of distiller s grain substrate was adjusted with humic acid, and the effects of various distiller s grain substrates on the growth of tobacco seedlings were studied to find out the method of cultivating high-quality tobacco seedlings by using distiller s grain substrate. The results showed that when 60% of humic acid was added to the distiller s grain substrate made from coarse distiller s grains, fine distiller s grains, perlite and vermiculite, both the pH and electrical conductivity decreased significantly and were similar to that of the conventional substrate. Moreover, the emergence rate of tobacco seedlings, the rate of strong tobacco seedlings, leaf number, stem height, root growth and quality of tobacco seedlings were good. 展开更多

All indicators of reproductive performance were improved in varying degrees during breeding, particularly the egg production at 68 weeks of age. Introducing the 1S^1 chromosome of Aegilops longissima into wheat genome can significantly improve wheat grain quality and contents of iron and zinc. Therefore, the development of molecular markers specific to 1S^1 chromosome of A. longissima is of important significance for breeding high-quality wheat with high contents of iron and zinc in grains. In this study, nine molecular markers specific to 1S^1 chromosome of A. longissima were developed, including two 1S^1S specific markers,six 1S^1L specific markers and one 1S^1 specific marker which was located on both short and long arms. The practicability of these molecular markers were verified using hybrid population as materials. The results showed that hybrid population could be effectively screened and identified, which indicated that the developed 1S^1 chromosome-specific molecular markers could be used for screening and identification of hybrid population and could be used in marker-assisted breeding of high-quality wheat with high contents of Fe and Zn in grains. 展开更多

By integrating unpublished data of field surveys conducted by us and published information on the species, we provide information on the status of distribution, breeding biology of the remaining population at the Dagang Forest Farm, population trends at currently known breeding sites, selection of breeding habitats and threats faced by the Jankowski’s Bunting. 目的 根据肾-骨髓-血细胞-脑髓相互影响的中西医理论,建立一种阿尔茨海默病(Alzheimer′s disease, AD)“肾虚酿毒伤髓”模型,筛查AD有效中药,并初步探讨该模型的临床应用。方法 由于AD患者B淋巴细胞可以促进神经细胞产生Aβ毒素。将肾... 目的 根据肾-骨髓-血细胞-脑髓相互影响的中西医理论,建立一种阿尔茨海默病(Alzheimer′s disease, AD)“肾虚酿毒伤髓”模型,筛查AD有效中药,并初步探讨该模型的临床应用。方法 由于AD患者B淋巴细胞可以促进神经细胞产生Aβ毒素。将肾虚型AD患者外周血提取B淋巴细胞永生化,建立淋巴母细胞系(lymphoblastoid cell lines, LCL),并与人神经上皮瘤细胞(SKNMC)共培养,产生Aβ毒素,制成阿尔茨海默病“肾虚酿毒伤髓”模型。通过免疫荧光法检测Aβ_(1-42)的表达量,筛查有抑制Aβ_(1-42)生成的中药。并初步探讨该模型的临床应用。结果 与正常对照组相比,肾虚型AD模型中神经细胞Aβ_(1-42)的生成明显增多,具有统计学意义(P<0.01)。与肾虚模型组相比,白术、人参、黄芪、生地黄、梓醇减少了神经细胞Aβ_(1-42)的生成,差异具有统计学意义(P<0.01)。结论 白术、人参、黄芪、生地黄、梓醇可以减少AD中Aβ_(1-42)的生成。该模型除了筛查有效中药外,可以作为AD患者“肾虚酿毒”严重程度的生物标记物,及评价中药干预的疗效指标。 展开更多

对家蚕育种亲本及其新品种性状数据档案实行信息化管理,可在家蚕育种和品种的种性维持过程中自动实现完整的信息采集、计算、调用、选择等功能。开发了一个基于B/S结构的家蚕育种与种性维持信息管理系统,主要包括品种管理、计划任务管... 对家蚕育种亲本及其新品种性状数据档案实行信息化管理,可在家蚕育种和品种的种性维持过程中自动实现完整的信息采集、计算、调用、选择等功能。开发了一个基于B/S结构的家蚕育种与种性维持信息管理系统,主要包括品种管理、计划任务管理、饲育信息管理、蚕茧信息管理、选种信息管理、选优信息管理等功能模块。选种信息管理模块的运行过程是通过电子天平称量蚕茧质量,然后根据计算模型自动进行数据信息处理与统计分析实施选择。用户可以方便地通过网络访问该系统,实现家蚕新品种选育及种性维持工作的自动化。 展开更多
