The year of 1956 saw the establishment of the Department of Industrial Economics, predecessor of the School of Business Administration of China University of Petroleum (Beijing), at former Beijing Petroleum Institute. Currently, the School consists of Department of Management, Department of Applied Economics, Department of Accounting and Finance, a Research Institute of Petroleum Economics and Business Experiment Center. It offers students academic programs for doctoral degree in petroleum engineering management, for master degree in industrial economics, engineering economics, management science and engineering, business management, accounting, project management, and industrial engineering, and for bachelor degree in accounting, business management, financial management, information management and information system, international economics and trade, and marketing. 展开更多

Purpose-This study focuses on the establishment and evolution of the school curriculum administrative system in China.Design/Approach/Methods-Based on policy papers and documents,this paper explores changes of the concept,tradition and practices of curriculum administration in China.Findings-The curriculum administration since 1949 has developed from an“excessively centralized curriculum administration”model to a“sharing-based curriculum administration”.China’s three-level curriculum administrative system,comprising a national-,local-,and school-level curriculum administration framework,is explained and analyzed.Originality/Value-This is a comprehensive scholarly review of historical changes in school curriculum administration in China.This paper also provides provocative suggestions for future development of school curriculum administration in the Chinese context. 展开更多

More than twenty years ago,Wuhan University and Nanjing University offered library science(LS)graduate programs.Since then,LS graduate education has been growing quickly in many aspects.At the same time,however,LS graduate education was also facing enormous challenges stemming from the dynamic development and wide applications of information technologies into the pedagogical arena of teaching and learning at all levels.Social evolution also made it necessary for LS educators to re-examine once again their graduate education model,curricular composition,educational philosophy and educational missions.In analyzing the present situation of LS graduate education in China,this paper focuses on the following issues:1)Growing size of LS graduate education(quantity and quality);2)educational objectives,including research direction and placement for graduates;3)structure of knowledge and curricular construction;4)conditions of administering a library school of high quality and 5)the management of teaching resources.The keystone of this paper is to pinpoint where current library science curricular deficiencies are lying.It is hoped that more serious scholarly discussions and perhaps also even concerted efforts among LS scholars and library practioners may be evoked in having the graduate education system of library and information science thoroughly realigned for the informational needs of the 21st century. 展开更多
