A Study on Strategy and Method of Acquisition of the Second Foreign Language

With the successful hosting of the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 and the World Exposition Shanghai China 2010,English,next to our mother tongue,has become the most important language in China.Therefore,learning English well is very important for most Chinese people.However,learning a foreign language well is not easy.We have to master several learning strategies and methods to learn it successfully.This paper will help all the foreign language learners to find the effective way in learning the second foreign languge.The paper mainly talks about two aspects:improving the abilities in listening,speaking and reading in order to communicate well;developing the ability of writing in English and perfecting the function of social communication.It gives out the concrete methods in listening,speaking,reading,writing,and translating.The authors hope that the paper would be helpful in assisting the foreign language learners to learn and master the second foreign language.

Successful treatment of liver abscess secondary to foreign body penetration of the alimentary tract: A case report and literature review

Hepatic abscess caused by foreign body penetration of the alimentary tract is rare. We report a case of gastric antrum penetration due to a toothpick complicated by liver abscess formation. A 41-year-old man was admitted to our hospital with the chief complaint of upper abdominal pain for 2 mo. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy performed at a local clinic revealed a toothpick penetrating the gastric antrum. Computed tomography (CT) of the abdomen at our hospital revealed a gastric foreign body embedded in the posterior wall of gastric antrum with regional phlegmon over the lesser sac and adhesion to the pancreatic body without notable vascular injury, and a hepatic abscess seven cm in diameter over the left liver lobe. Endoscopic removal of the foreign body was successfully performed without complication. The liver abscess was treated with parenteral antibiotics without drainage. The patient’s recovery was uneventful. Abdominal ultrasonography demonstrated complete resolution of the hepatic abscess six months after discharge. Relevant literature from the PubMed database was reviewed and the clinical presentations, diagnostic modalities, treatment strategies and outcomes of 88 reported cases were analyzed. The results showed that only 6 patients received conservative treatment with parenteral antibiotics, while the majority underwent either image-guided abscess drainage or laparotomy. Patients receiving abscess drainage via laparotomy had a significantly shorter length of hospitalization compared with those undergoing image-guided drainage. There was no significant difference in age between those who survived and those who died, however, the latter presented to hospitals in a more critical condition than the former. The overall mortality rate was 7.95%.

With the process of economic and cultural globalization,the number of second foreign language learners has soared in recent years.Second foreign language learning has been an obvious trend in our times.This essay is devoted to exploring the causes of the phenomenon,the status of our second foreign language learning,the gains,the obstacles and their possible reasons during the learning process of the second-foreign-language learning.This essay falls into a questionnaire and four chapters in the body part.The questionnaire aims to help us find out the current status and the influence of second foreign language learning,the learners' attitude to learning and the material,the practical methods of learning the second foreign language.

The Influence of Second Language Attrition on Foreign Language Teaching

Besides the sessions of teaching and learning in language learning activities, language attrition, as the concomitant product of language acquisition, exerts significant impact on language teaching, especially on foreign language teaching. 基于Tv-SECOND的自动驾驶场景下的3D目标检测

针对自动驾驶场景中复杂环境下的3D目标检测任务,特别是远距离和遮挡条件下,为提高模型的检测准确率,在SECOND的基础上提出了Tv-SECOND两阶段算法。该算法提出一种基于Transformer架构的提案框特征提取模块,并在传统体素特征编码基础上提出可变形的体素特征编码模块。在KITTI数据集上进行测试,结果显示,所提出的算法相比SECOND在远距离和遮挡严重的情况下分别提高了7.49%、9.72%。同时与其他先进的两阶段方法相比,检测精度有不同程度的提升,证明了Tv-SECOND算法的有效性。新算法能够建立特征之间的依赖关系,聚合周边广域的上下文信息,增强模型的学习推理能力,有效提升了模型在远距离和遮挡的情况下的检测性能。

Phlyctenulosis-Like Presentation Secondary to Embedded Corneal Foreign Body

Case Presentation: A nine-year-old boy presented to the general ophthalmologist with a several weeks history of redness, photophobia and intermittent foreign body sensation in the right eye. A pigmented lesion with anterior chamber inflammation was noted on examination. B-scan ultrasound was performed and revealed no foreign body. The patient was diagnosed with anterior uveitis, which did not completely respond to treatment. The differential diagnosis was expanded to include peripheral ulcerative keratitis, phlyctenulosis, pigmented neoplasm, and corneal foreign body. Upon referral to a cornea specialist, an exam under anesthesia revealed a large foreign body consistent with a rock fragment in the peripheral cornea, which was subsequently removed without complication. Conclusion: This case highlights an atypical presentation of foreign body as well as a differential diagnosis of pigmented peripheral corneal lesions. Foreign bodies represent the most common cause of urgent ophthalmic evaluation. When evaluating lesions of the cornea, it is imperative to keep an extensive differential diagnosis, giving the potential for severe and rapid development of visually threatening complications.

A Study on the Compilation of Dictionaries for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language Based on the Second Language Acquisition Theory

On the Cognition of Second Language Mental Lexicon and Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language

Lower Lid Entropion Secondary to Missed Intraorbital Foreign Body in a Child

Background: Intraorbital foreign bodies can result in various complications if not appropriately managed. Aim: To report a case of lower lid entropion secondary to a missed intraorbital foreign body. Case Presentation: A 7-year-old boy presented with inward turning of the left lower lid for three days prior to admission. A week before, the child was in the garden when part of the roof of their home suddenly broke off, with pieces of the debris falling near him. He complained of left eye irritation, but a visit to a general practitioner found no eye abnormalities. Three days after that, the mother sought an ophthalmology opinion as she noticed inversion of the left lower lid. On examination, visual acuity in both eyes was 6/6. There was left lower lid entropion, and a deeply embedded foreign body seen in the lower lid. No other eye abnormalities noted. Computed tomography scan of the orbits revealed a welldefined foreign object in the lower orbit, fracturing the antero-superior wall of the left maxillary sinus. The left eye foreign body was removed uneventfully via a transconjunctival approach. Conclusion: A thorough examination is mandatory in any case of ocular trauma especially in young children, who are usually unable to provide a clear history of the injury.

Motivation to Study a Second Foreign Language: A Case of Chinese University Learners of German

Not much research has been done on motivation to study a second,third or even fourth foreign language though learners of such languages have been increasing.To contribute to this,the present study examined German learning motivation of Chinese university students at different proficiency levels.A total of 297 German learners at three different proficiency levels at a university in Beijing filled in the questionnaires,of whom 191 answered the open-ended question and 50 were informally interviewed.Analyses of the data revealed the following major findings;(1)most respondents at cach proficiency level had limited access to and little chance to use German,liked the language,studied it(very)hard and did not think the language was difficult,(2)students at different proficiency levels studied German for similar reasons such as major study/research,further education,future career,interest in foreign language learning and German,and(3)students at higher proficiency levels perceived German to be more difficult and worked harder on it.Students at higher proficiency levels were both integratively and instrumentally more motivated to study German and had greater motivation intensity as well.It is clear that students at different proficiency levels were motivated to study German and that students at the advanced level tended to be more integratively motivated than those at the beginning level.Based on these findings,some suggestions are discussed.

Spontaneous Abortions in the Second Trimester of Pregnancy: Research and Analysis of Factors Associated at Laquintinie Hospital in Douala

Introduction: Spontaneous abortion of the second trimester is an interruption of pregnancy with complete expulsion or not of the product of conception between 15 and 28 weeks of pregnancy without any maneuvers. The objective of our study was to determine the factors associated with second trimester spontaneous abortions at Laquintinie Hospital in Douala. Methodology for this purpose: We conducted a case-control study from January to May 2019 on pregnant women who may or may not have had spontaneous second trimester abortions. Results: In total we recorded 1609 pregnancies and recruited 184 patients, including 46 cases and 138 controls;which gave a frequency of spontaneous abortion in the second trimester of pregnancy of 2.85%. A correlative analysis showed that spontaneous abortions in the second trimester were associated with housewife status (OR = 2.89;CI = 1.21 - 6.79;p = 0.010), gestation > 5 (OR = 4.09;CI = 1.02 - 17.66;p = 0.040), multiparity (OR = 3.81;CI = 1.59 - 9.16;p = 0.002), history of endouterine maneuvers (OR = 5.64;CI = 2.43 - 13 .03;p = 0.000), malaria in pregnancy (OR = 3.99;CI = 1.1 - 14.76;p = 0.030), incompleteness on the second trimester ultrasound (OR = 2.37;CI = 1.18 - 4.70;p = 0.010), jolts when traveling (OR = 46.04;CI = 17.29 - 123.66;p = 0.000), long car journeys (OR = 7.05;CI = 1.99 - 27.77;p = 0.000). After logistic regression eliminating the confounding factors, only the following were associated with abortions: Multiparity (OR = 13.90;CI = 2.96 - 65.18;p = 0.000), endo uterine maneuvers (OR = 3.69;CI = 1. 01 - 13.44;p = 0.047), jolts when traveling (OR = 72.63;CI = 19.47 - 270.96;p = 0.000), long car journeys (OR = 15.41;CI = 2.7 - 85, 95;p = 0.000). Conclusion: Our study reveals that a set of factors contribute to the occurrence of spontaneous abortions in the second trimester of pregnancy in our context.

The Influence of LI Transfer on Second Language Acquisition and Its Implication on Foreign Language Teaching in China

Understanding the catalytic performance and deactivation behaviour of second-promoter doped Pt/WO_(χ)/γ-Al_(2)O_(3) catalysts in the glycerol hydrogenolysis for selective and cleaner production of 1,3-propanediol

The selective aqueous-phase glycerol hydrogenolysis is a promising reaction to produce commercially useful 1,3-propanediol(1,3-PDO).The Pt-WOx bifunctional catalyst can catalyse the glycerol hydrogenol-ysis but the catalyst deactivation via sintering,metal leaching,and coking can predominantly occur in the aqueous phase reaction.In this work,the effect of reaction temperature,pressure and second promoter(Cu,Fe,Rh,Mn,Re,Ru,Ir,Sn,B,and P)on catalytic performance and deactivation behaviour of Pt/WOx/-Al2O3 was investigated.When doped with Rh,Mn,Re,Ru,Ir,B,and P,the second promoter boosts catalytic activity by promoting great dispersion of Pt on support and increasing Pt surface area.The increased Bronsted acid sites lead to selective synthesis of 1,3-PDO than 1,2-propanediol(1,2-PDO).The characterization studies of fresh and spent catalysts reveal that the main cause of catalyst deactivation is the Pt sintering,as interpreted based on XRD,CO chemisorption,and TEM analyses.The Pt sintering is affected depending on the second promoter that can either or reduce the interaction between Pt,WO_(χ)/γ and Al_(2)O_(3).As an electron acceptor of Pt in Pt/WO_(χ)/γ-Al_(2)O_(3),Re and Mn as second promoters resulted in increased Pt^(2+) on the catalytic surface,which strengthens the contact between Pt andγ-Al_(2)O_(3) and WO_(χ),resulting in a decrease in Pt sintering.The metal leaching and coking are not affected by the presence of second promoter.The catalyst modified with a second promoter possesses improved catalytic activity and 1,3-PDO production,however the stability continues to remain a challenge.The present work unrav-elled the determining parameters of catalytic activity and deactivation,thus providing a promising pro-tocol toward effective catalysts for glycerol hydrogenolysis.
