To enable that the second harmonic of the primary CGW mode can accumulate along the circumferential direction, an appropriate mode pair of primary and double frequency CGWs is chosen. Finite element simulations and evaluations of nonlinear CGW propagation are analyzed for the selected CGW mode pair. The numerical simulations performed directly demonstrate that the response of SHG is completely generated by the desired primary CGW mode that satisfies the condition of phase velocity matching at a specific driving frequency, and that the second harmonic of the primary CGW mode does have a cumulative effect with circumferential angles. The numerical perspective obtained yields an insight into the complicated physical process of SHG of primary CGW propagation unavailable previously.展开更多

The present work is performed based on the preconditions that the phase velocity matching is satisfied and that the transfer of energy from the primary Lamb wave to the double frequency Lamb wave is not zero. It investigates the influences of the difference between the group velocities of the primary Lamb wave and the double frequency Lamb wave, the propagation distance and the duration of the primary Lamb wave waveform on the envelope shape of the time-domain second harmonic. It finds that the maximum magnitude of the envelope of the second-harmonic waveform can grow within some propagation distance even if the condition of group velocity matching is not satisfied. Our analyses also indicate that the maximum magnitude of the envelope of the second-harmonic waveform is kept constant beyond a specific propagation distance. Furthermore, it concludes that the integration amplitude of the time-domain second-harmonic waveform always grows with propagation distance within the second-order perturbation. The present research yields new physical insight not previously available into the effect of generation of the time-domain second harmonic by propagation of a primary Lamb wave waveform.展开更多

A pair of wedge transducers is used to generate the primary circumferential guided wave desired and to detect its fundamental-frequency and second-harmonic amplitudes on the outside surface of the circular tube. The amplitudes of the fundamental waves and the second harmonics of the circumferential guided wave propagation are measured for different separations between the two wedge transducers. At the driving frequency where the primary and the double-frequency circumferential guided waves have the same linear phase velocities, the clear second-harmonic signals can be observed. The quantitative relationships between the second-harmonic amplitudes and circumferential angle are analyzed. It is experimentally verified that the second harmonics of primary circumferential guided waves do have a cumulative growth effect with the circumferential angle.展开更多

The polarization distribution and SHG intensity are calculated as functions of the sample radius and probe depth. The numerical results show that refractive index mismatch can result in peak intensity degradation, increase secondary lobes and extension of second- harmonic polarization distribution. Because of the attenuation of polarization intensity, the detected SHG intensity significantly decreases with increasing probe depth, which can limit the imaging depth of SHG microscopy inside thick samples. Forward SHG intensity decays slowly than backward SHG, due to the combination of extension second-harmonic polarization distribution and strong dependency of forward SHG on sample radius.展开更多

The expressions of the second-harmonic generation circular dichroism are derived from our presented three-coupled-oscillator model for the tripod-like chiral molecules. Spectral dependence of the circular dichroism of SHG from film surface composed of tripod-like chiral molecules is simulated numerically and analysed. Influence of ehiral parameters on the second-harmonic generation circular dichroism spectrum in chiral films is studied. The result shows that the second-harmonic generation circular dichroism is a sensitive method of detecting chirality compared with the ordinary circular dichroism in linear optics. Periodic fork-shaped gratings are extremely important in this context because they are capable of generating second-harmonic vortex beams from a fundamental Gaussian wave, which has versatile applications in optical trapping and materials engineering. However, previous studies mainly focused on the normal incidence of the fundamental Gaussian beam, resulting in symmetric emissions of the second-harmonic vortices. Here we present an experimental study on second-harmonic vortex generation in periodic fork-shaped gratings at oblique incidence, in comparison with the case of normal incidence. More quasi-phase-matching resonant wavelengths have been observed at oblique incidence, and the second-harmonic emissions become asymmetric against the incident beam. These results agree well with theoretic explanations. The oblique incidence of the fundamental wave is also used for the generation of second-harmonic Bessel beams with uniform azimuthal intensity distributions. Our study is important for a deeper understanding of nonlinear interactions in a 3D periodic medium. It also paves the way toward achieving highquality structured beams at new frequencies, which is important for manipulation of the orbital angular momentum of light.展开更多

文摘Within the second-order perturbation approximation, this paper investigates the physical process of generation of the time-domain second harmonic by a primary Lamb wave waveform in an elastic plate. The present research yields new physical insight not previously available into the effect of generation of the time-domain second harmonic by propagation of a primary Lamb wave waveform.

文摘On the basis of the vector diffraction theory and Green's function method, this paper investigates the effects of refractive index mismatch on second-harmonic generation (SHG) microscopy. Forward SHG intensity decays slowly than backward SHG, due to the combination of extension second-harmonic polarization distribution and strong dependency of forward SHG on sample radius.

文摘On the basis of second-order perturbation approximate and modal expansion approach,we investigate the enhancement effect of cumulative second-harmonic generation(SHG)of circumferential guided waves(CGWs)in a circular tube, which is inherently induced by the closed propagation feature of CGWs.An appropriate mode pair of primary-and double-frequency CGWs satisfying the phase velocity matching and nonzero energy flux is selected to ensure that the second harmonic generated by primary CGW propagation can accumulate along the circumference.Using a coherent superposition of multi-waves,a model of unidirectional CGW propagation is established for analyzing the enhancement effect of cumulative SHG of primary CGW mode selected. The theoretical analyses and numerical simulations performed directly demonstrate that the second harmonic generated does have a cumulative effect along the circumferential direction and the closed propagation feature of CGWs does enhance the magnitude of cumulative second harmonic generated.Potential applications of the enhancement effect of cumulative SHG of CGWs are considered and discussed. The theoretical analysis and numerical simulation perspective presented here yield an insight previously unavailable into the physical mechanism of the enhancement effect of cumulative SHG by closed propagation feature of CGWs in a circular tube.

文摘This paper first demonstrates second-harmonic generation (SHG) in the intact cell nucleus, which acts as an optical indicator of DNA malignancy in prostate glandular epithelial cells. Within a scanning region of 2.7 μm×2.7μm in cell nuclei, SHG signals produced from benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate carcinoma (PC) tissues (mouse model C57BL/6) have been investigated. Statistical analyses (t test) of a total of 405 measurements (204 nuclei from BPH and 201 nuclei from PC) show that SHG signals from BPH and PC have a distinct difference (p 〈 0.05), suggesting a potential optical method of revealing very early malignancy in prostate glandular epithelial cells based upon induced biochemical and/or biophysical modifications in DNA.

文摘A generation system of continuous-variable (CV) quadripartite entangled state based on two cascaded second- harmonic generation (SHG) cavities below the threshold is investigated. Two reflected fundamental bearias of the first cavity, the reflected second-harmonic beam and the output fourth-harmonic beam of the second cavity are proved to be entangled, and the dependence of the entanglement degree on the normalized frequency, pump parameter, fourth-harmonic loss parameter, and second-harmonic loss parameter is also analyzed. Due to the fact that the cavity parameters and the nonlinear crystals of the two SHG cavities can be freely chosen, the practicality of the proposed protocol is relatively perfect and the system can also be extended to the preparation of multicolor entangled states for a quantum network.

文摘Here we propose a hybrid polymer-LN waveguide for achieving phase-matched second-harmonic generation(SHG).From the aspect of super-mode theory, the geometric parameters of the hybrid semi-nonlinear waveguide were optimized to utilize both symmetric(even)and antisymmetric(odd)modes of the pump and SHG waves so as to facilitate phase matching with large modal overlap.Phase matching between a fundamental even(TE_(00)-like)mode at 1320 nm and a fundamental odd(TE_(01)-like)mode at 660 nm was found with a calculated modal overlap integral of 0.299,while utilizing the largest nonlinear coefficient d_(33),and achieving an efficient calculated normalized conversion efficiency of 148%W^(-1)·cm^(-2).Considering the fabrication feasibility of such hybrid waveguide with features including etchless, large dimension, and low structural sensitivity,we believe our findings would provide a useful reference for future on-chip efficient nonlinear conversion devices.

文摘Nonlinear optical frequency mixing, which describes new frequencies generation by exciting nonlinear materials with intense light field, has drawn vast interests in the field of photonic devices, material characterization, and optical imaging.Investigating and manipulating the nonlinear optical response of target materials lead us to reveal hidden physics and develop applications in optical devices. Here,we report the realization of facile manipulation of nonlinear optical responses in the example system of MoS_(2) monolayer by van der Waals interfacial engineering. We found that, the interfacing of monolayer graphene will weaken the exciton oscillator strength in MoS_(2) monolayer and correspondingly suppress the second harmonic generation(SHG)intensity to 30%under band-gap resonance excitation. While with off-resonance excitation, the SHG intensity would enhance up to 130%,which is conjectured to be induced by the interlayer excitation between MoS_(2) and graphene. Our investigation provides an effective method for controlling nonlinear optical properties of two-dimensional materials and therefore facilitates their future applications in optoelectronic and photonic devices.

文摘The second-harmonic generation (SHG) circular dichroism in the light of reflection from chiral films of tripod-like chiral molecules is investigated. All of our work indicates that the classical molecular models are very effective to explain the second-harmonic generation circular dichroism of chiral molecular system. The classical molecular model theory can give us a clear physical picture and brings us very instructive information about the link between the molecular configuration and the nonlinear processes.

文摘Functionalized black phosphorus(BP)nanosheets have been considered as promising nanoagents in cancer therapy due to their excellent photothermal conversion efficiency. However,it is still difficult to visually monitor the dynamic localization of BP nanoagents in cancer cells. In this paper,we systematically studied the second-harmonic generation(SHG)signals originating from exfoliated BP nanosheets.Interestingly, under the excitation of a high frequency pulsed laser at 950 nm,the SHG signals of BP nanosheets in vitro are almost undetectable because of their poor stability. However, the intracellular SHG signals from BP nanosheets could be measured by in vivo optical imaging due to the efficient enrichment of living HeLa cells. Moreover, the SHG signal intensity from BP nanosheets increases with the prolonged incubation time.It can be expected that the BP nanosheets could be a promising intracellular SHG nanoprobe employed for visually in vivo biomedical imaging in practical cancer photothermal therapy(PIT).

文摘Three-dimensional(3D) nonlinear photonic crystals have received intensive interest as an ideal platform to study nonlinear wave interactions and explore their applications. It also paves the way toward achieving highquality structured beams at new frequencies, which is important for manipulation of the orbital angular momentum of light.
