An Introduction to The Construction of English Multiplex Teaching Evaluation System in Secondary Vocational Schools

In view of the current situation that the evaluation mode of English Teaching in secondary vocational school is still dominated by the summative evaluation,the new evaluation mode,the multiple evaluation system,is applied to the English teaching practice of secondary vocational school in the form of experiment,and the situation of studentst learning strategies,autonomous learning,interest in learning and English level after the implementation of the multiple evaluation system is analyzed.The results show that the multiple evaluation system of English Teaching in secondary vocational school has a positive impact on studentst English learning strategies,learning autonomy and learning interest,and also plays a certain role in promoting the improvement of students’ overall English level.

An investigation into the 2003 new English curriculum in China through teachers＇ interviews

Interviews are made with 10 middle school English teachers in Guangdong to seek their opinions and discover the implementation of the 2003 new English curriculum. It was agreed that there are many improvements, including the proposal of learning strategies and emotions, and attitudes to learning English. However, few actual measures are carried out in implementation. Lack of support from school, parents and students proves to be a headache for teachers. The problems that hinder Chinese secondary ELT are hence pointed out： the traditional teaching methods, examination means, constraints, teacher quality and lack of support. Compromises should be made between the decision makers, teachers to bring satisfactory results to ELT in China. especially the course planners and the middle school

Job Burnout of English Teachers in Secondary Schools in Western China

Through the analysis of 86 valid questionnaires and twice follow-up interviews connected with twice MBI-ESs for the three chosen participants, this study shows that： 1） The job burnout syndrome of English teachers in secondary schools is not very serious; 2） There＇s no significant difference between male and female teachers, between teachers in junior and senior middle schools or between teachers in key and average schools, but teachers with more teaching experience can often find a sense of personal achievement; 3） The causes of English teachers＇ job burnout in secondary schools lie in external factors, such as unreasonable school policy, student-management pressure, exam pressure, etc. and internal factors, such as knowledge exhaustion, lacking self-adjustment, etc.

An Investigation on Chinese Elementary and Secondary School English Teachers' Perceptions on AWE as Formative Assessment Tools

The research is designed to examine current teaching practices and perceptions of elementary and secondary school language teachers so as to inform the design of a large-scale project on AWE （Automated Writing Evaluation） application in the Chinese classroom. The data indicated that teachers were confident in their computer use and understood formative assessment notions and their role in technology-enhanced teaching and learning. However, concerns were raised on the writing rubrics interpretation, the pedagogy on integrating AWE into teaching, and the suitability of the whole English software to Chinese learners. Solutions and suggestions were discussed. Sample lesson plans, pedagogy training and technical support were considered necessary for the participating teachers.

THE METHODOLOGICAL EXPLORATION OF THE ENGLISH TEACHING IN SECONDARY SCHOOL

The English Teaching Guideline for the nine-year compulsory education of full-time Sec-ondary school points out that:"the aim of English teaching for secondary school students is to letstudents master the basic knowledge of English language and the prelimanary ability to use Englishby the rutine practice of listening,speaking,reading and writing.To encourage students for deepinterest in the English study,and adaPt themselves to a good habit for further study,and developthe imagination and self-teaching ability."In order to meet the requirement,we must better sev-eral aspects as what should be taught,the timing arrangement,the teaching sequence arrange-ment,the improvement of teaching method in class.Among which,the reforming of teachingmethod is the key step.
