In this paper, the MPF integrated system is described that can form a variety of part shapes without the need for solid dies, and given only geometry and material information about the desired part. The central component of this system is a pair of matrices of punches, and the desired discrete die surface is constructed by changing the positions of punches though the CAD and control system. The basic MPF process is introduced and the typical application examples show the applicability of the MPF technology. Wrinkle and dimple are the major forming defects in MPF process, numerical simulation is a feasible way to predict forming defects in MPF. In conventional stamping, the mode to form sheet metal with blankholder is an effective way to suppress wrinkling; the same is true in MPF. A MPF press with flexible blankholder was developed, and the forming results indicated the forming stability of this technique. Based on the flexibility of MPF, varying deformation path MPF and sectional MPF were explored that cannot be realized in conventional stamping. By controlling each punch in real-time, a sheet part can be manufactured along a specific forming path. When the path of deformation in MPF is designed properly, forming defects will be avoided completely and lager deformation is achieved. A work piece can be formed section by section though the sectional MPF, and this technique makes it possible to manufacture large size parts in a small MPF press. Some critical experiments were performed that confirmed the validity of two special MPF techniques.展开更多

One of the most serious defects, wrinkling, during the multi-point forming process of a shallow rectangle cup is discussed by means of numerical simulation on the shallow rectangle cup forming process. The effects of thickness, material of sheet metal and the pressure of the blank holder are investigated. Based on the simulation results, the reasons and control methods of wrinkling are pointed out. Moreover, the experiment on the multi-point die forming of the shallow rectangle cup by the MPF machine is done to validate the efficiency of the numerical simulation, and the result proves that the application of an elastic cushion in the forming can restrain wrinkling efficiently.展开更多

Numerical simulation and experimental results showed that the use of discrete steel pads in the multi-point forming process can substantially improve the stress–strain state on the plate and suppress dimple, straight-edge, and wrinkle defects. L. method) was established to simulate roll forming process of channel section with outer edge. The deformation characteristics of strip was analyzed, and the three-dimensional displacement field, strain field and stress field of deformed strip were got. The calculation example proves that the peak transverse pressing membrane strain is on the corner part of the deformed strip, and the peak longitudinal stretching strain is on the outer edge part of the deformed strip in front of rolls. In addition, the transverse deformation of the deformed strip is principal, and the longitudinal deformation is small.展开更多

Three hypotheses were tested: (H...The aim of this study was to compare mandibular form (i.e., size and shape) between patients with agenesis of the lower second premolar (P2) and a control group with no agenesis. Three hypotheses were tested: (H1) agenesis causes a change in mandibular morphology because of inadequate alveolar ridge development in the area of the missing tooth (mandibular plasticity); (H2) agenesis is caused by spatial limitations within the mandible (dental plasticity); and (H3) common genetic/ epigenetic factors cause agenesis and affect mandibular form (pleiotropy). A geometric morphometric analysis was applied to cross-sectional images of computed tomography (CT) scans of three matched groups (n= 50 each): (1) regularly erupted P2; (2) agenesis of P2 and the primary second molar in situ; and (3) agenesis of P2 and the primary second molar missing for 〉3 months. Cross-sections of the three areas of interest (first premolar, P2, first molar) were digitized with 23 landmarks and superimposed by a generalized Procrustes analysis. On average, the mandibular cross-sections were narrower and shorter in patients with P2 agenesis compared with that in the control group. Both agenesis groups featured a pronounced submandibular fossa. These differences extended at least one tooth beyond the agenesis-affected region. Taken together with the large interindividual variation that resulted in massively overlapping group distributions, these findings support genetic and/or epigenetic pleiotropy (H3) as the most likely origin of the observed covariation between mandibular form and odontogenesis. Clinically, reduced dimensions and greater variability of mandibular form, as well as a pronounced submandibular fossa, should be expected during the treatment planning of patients with P2 agenesis.展开更多
The paper reports an analytical formula for the production cross section of e^(+)e^(−)annihilation to hadrons in the vicinity of a narrow resonance,particularly in theτ-charm region,while considering initial state ra...The paper reports an analytical formula for the production cross section of e^(+)e^(−)annihilation to hadrons in the vicinity of a narrow resonance,particularly in theτ-charm region,while considering initial state radiation.Despite some approximations in its derivation,comparison between the analytical formula and direct integration of ISR shows good accuracy,indicating that the analytical formula meets current experimental requirements.Furthermore,this paper presents a comparison of the cross section between the analytical formula and calculations using the ConExc Monte Carlo generator.The efficiency of the analytical formula in significantly reducing computing time makes it a favorable choice for the regression procedure to extract the parameters of narrow charmonium resonances in experiments.展开更多
